text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #800080; text-decoration: underline;\">Maryland trooper fatally shot a 16-year-old<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/h1>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/maxresdefault.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-92440\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/maxresdefault.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"420\" height=\"236\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/maxresdefault.jpeg 420w, https:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/maxresdefault-300x169.jpeg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 420px) 100vw, 420px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8220;&#8230;<span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>Police\u00a0confirmed\u00a0they received two calls Tuesday about a suspicious man holding what <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">appeared<\/span><\/em> to be a gun. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">A uniformed trooper then confronted the male teen, who <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>appeared<\/em><\/span> to have a gun and a knife.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>Police said <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">a witness<\/span><\/em> informed them that the teen adopted what <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">appeared<\/span><\/em> to be <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">a shooting stance and pointed a gun at the trooper<\/span><\/em>. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">A <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>second witness<\/em><\/span> told investigators that <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">after the trooper fired a shot<\/span><\/em>, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>wounding<\/em><\/span> the teen, the person <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">pulled out a knife and tried to get up<\/span><\/em>.<\/span> The trooper <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">ordered the teen to drop the knife before firing for a second time<\/span><\/em>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8230;<strong><span style=\"color: #333399;\">The gun recovered at the scene was determined to be an <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">airsoft gu<span style=\"color: #333399; text-decoration: underline;\">n<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/span><\/strong><strong><span style=\"color: #333399;\">\u00a0that is \u201ca close representation of an actual handgun,\u201d police said<\/span><\/strong>&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sorry, but if getting yourself shot for resisting arrest for outstanding warrants (See &#8220;<em>Blake, Jacob<\/em>&#8220;, &#8220;<em>Wright, Daunte<\/em>&#8220;, &#8220;<em>Brooks, Rayshard<\/em>&#8220;, <em>etc<\/em>., <em>etc<\/em>., <em>etc<\/em>., <em>ad infinitum<\/em>, <em>ad nauseam<\/em>.) was a bad idea, we cannot even <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">begin<\/span><\/em> to fathom the thought process behind pointing an airsoft gun at a trooper who has already drawn down on you, let alone pulling a knife <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">after<\/span><\/em> having <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">already been shot<\/span><\/em>!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/4WMErc1n6Ks?start=114&amp;end=116&amp;\" width=\"420\" height=\"235\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>In what comes as no surprise, Kim Potter, the Brooklyn Center police officer who, after 26 years on the job still couldn&#8217;t tell her Taser from her Glock, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/news\/minnesota-cop-who-shot-daunte-wright-to-be-charged-with-manslaughter\/?utm_source=email&amp;utm_medium=breaking&amp;utm_campaign=newstrack&amp;utm_term=23532391\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">will be charged with second degree manslaughter<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/a>.\u00a0 You can review the Minnesota statute for second degree manslaughter <a href=\"https:\/\/www.revisor.mn.gov\/statutes\/cite\/609.205\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">here<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/a>, but the only section applicable to Kim Potter we found was this:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8220;<strong>(1) by the person&#8217;s <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">culpable negligence<\/span><\/em> whereby the person creates an <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">unreasonable risk<\/span><\/em>, and <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">consciously takes chances<\/span><\/em> of causing death or great bodily harm to another;<\/strong>&#8220;<\/p>\n<p><strong>From what we could determine, &#8220;c<b>ulpable negligence&#8221;<\/b>\u00a0as\u00a0<b>defined<\/b>\u00a0by\u00a0<b>Minnesota<\/b>\u00a0courts means gross\u00a0<b>negligence<\/b>\u00a0combined with recklessness.\u00a0 Thus a jury will have to determine Potter was <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">grossly negligent and reckless<\/span><\/em> when she created an <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">unreasonable risk<\/span><\/em>\u00a0by attempting to stop a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>wanted felon<\/em><\/span> from escaping police custody a <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">second time<\/span><\/em>, and <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">consciously<\/span><\/em>\u00a0took the chance she&#8217;d mistake her Glock&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/55o09c.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-92454\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/55o09c.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"420\" height=\"280\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/55o09c.jpeg 420w, https:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/55o09c-300x200.jpeg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 420px) 100vw, 420px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8230;for her Taser.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/zaQlAHptguM?start=46&amp;end=50&amp;\" width=\"420\" height=\"235\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; justice may <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">occasionally<\/span><\/em> be swift, but this was the Operation Warp Speed of criminal investigations.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Though the truth will eventually out, for now, here&#8217;s a second shot of the juice: Some mistakes, however honest, you live with the rest of your life, as Kim Potter is already learning.\u00a0 Other mistakes, like Daunte Wright <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">choosing<\/span><\/em> to resist arrest, you don&#8217;t live long enough to regret.\u00a0 A sad, sad state of affairs any way you cut it.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Next up, two commentaries from <em>NRO<\/em>&#8216;s Dan McLaughlin on the Dimocrats&#8217; underline;\">can<\/span><\/em> cause fevers or internal bleeding, which <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">can<\/span><\/em> be fatal,&#8221;\u00a0<em><span style=\"text-decoration: &#8220;x&#8221; over each fang mark and sucking out the venom?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Second, if the zoo in fact remains &#8220;in close contact&#8221; with the bite victim, how would they not know his or her status?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Lastly, how many expert sources did the reporter need to consult for this story?\u00a0 Seriously, National Geographic, a study from the American College of Medical Toxicology <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">and<\/span><\/em> the Seneca Park Zoo!\u00a0 As for that last one, though we grew up south of Rochester and visited the Seneca Park Zoo on many occasions in our youth, we never realized they were an authority on African bush vipers, notwithstanding the fact they feature one in their reptile exhibit.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>On the other hand, we never realized the highest paid bureaucrat in the federal government could know so little about <em><span style=\"text-decoration:
