underline;\">the arrest of a suspect in a recent Kenosha bar shooting<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/a> caught our attention:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8220;<strong>The suspect <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">was described<\/span><\/em> as a <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">black male<\/span><\/em> over\u00a0six feet tall wearing a light-colored hooded sweatshirt.<\/strong>&#8220;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Except he <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">WASN&#8217;T<\/span><\/em>, as we took particular notice when first reading about the incident\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/abc7chicago.com\/bar-kenosha-shooting-mass\/10524839\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #0000ff;\"><em>the shooter was described as<\/em><\/span><\/a> &#8220;as a six foot tall <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">man<\/span><\/em> wearing a light-colored hooded sweatshirt&#8221;, which led us to think&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/tEQei-Khmfk?start=97&amp;end=100&amp;\" width=\"420\" height=\"235\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>You know, one which included the RACE of the suspect?!?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Meanwhile, the first drops in a trickle which we underline;\">very<\/span><\/em> careful for what they wish.\u00a0 As for us&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/download-9.jpeg\"><img comments such as these:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u201c<span style=\"color: #008080;\"><strong>It was a murder in the full light of day and it ripped the blinders off the whole world to see. <span style=\"color: #800080;\">Systemic racism is a stain on our nation\u2019s soul.<\/span><\/strong><\/span>\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pardon our French, but WTF did George Floyd&#8217;s death have to do with systemic racism?!?\u00a0 As we said in our <em>Quote of the Day<\/em>, especially in light of the short time it took them to reach a guilty verdict on all three counts (which caused Speed to quip, &#8220;He was guilty of a lot, but not <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>that<\/em><\/span>\u00a0much!&#8221;), the jury ignored the facts and convicted on murder charge involving a man who ingested enough Fentanyl to kill a herd of elephants.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>The fact that we don\u2019t know this officer\u2019s name is concerning enough,\u00a0but what\u2019s <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">equally concerning<\/span><\/em> is that we don\u2019t even know what agency he belongs to.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Was this officer part of the Capitol Police force?<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Well, the secrecy surrounding the case would suggest that yes perhaps he was, but we\u2019re only speculating.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Everything<\/span><\/em> is a mystery when it comes to the Capitol Police because <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">they operate under a totally different set of rules<\/span><\/em>.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Thanks to their buddies in Congress, the U.S. Capitol Police <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">do not follow the same public reporting or transparency protocols that most other major police forces do<\/span><\/em>.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>For example, if someone is shot outside the Capitol by a DC police officer, the department is required by law to release the names of the officers involved in the shooting.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>The Capitol Police force is <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">not required to release the names of officers involved in any shooting<\/span><\/em>, and most-often times they <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">choose to withhold<\/span><\/em> that information from the public.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Not to mention, Capitol Police are also <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">under no obligation to respond to FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) requests<\/span><\/em>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>The Capitol Police are part of the Legislative Branch and are\u00a0<span class=\"s1\">not subject to the Freedom of Information Act<\/span>. <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">That means if a journalist or watchdog group asks for records on police misconduct or\u00a0<span class=\"s1\">inspector general reports<\/span>, they\u2019ll come up empty because Capitol Police <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">are not required under the law to comply<\/span><\/em>.\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/span><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Not very \u201ctransparent\u201d policing, is it?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>If the man who shot Ashli Babbit is not in fact a member of the Capitol Police, is it possible that authorities are studiously hiding his agency affiliation in order to avoid FOIA requests which don\u2019t apply to Capitol Police but could for other agencies (say, the Secret Service).<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Some more facts. <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Unlike most major police departments, Capitol police <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">are not equipped with body cameras<\/span><\/em>.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Honestly, it\u2019s mind-boggling that <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Democrats are demanding a nation-wide discussion on police reform and transparency<\/span><\/em>, yet the officers who are sworn to protect <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">them<\/span><\/em> have almost <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>no transparency and no accountability whatsoever to the public who pay their salaries<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/span>&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Next thing you know, Congress will be voting themselves raises and exempting themselves from the laws they impose on the rest of us.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>And how, one might ask, do the Capitol Police occupy their time when they&#8217;re not shooting unarmed rioters or refusing FOIA requests?\u00a0 Why, arranging police escorts for members of the Legislative branch&#8230;like Mad Maxine:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/maxine.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-92667\"
