<span style=\"color: #000000;\">to the United States<\/span><\/span>: Billy Madison.\u00a0 Or perhaps more accurately, this scene from <em>Billy Madison<\/em>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/5hfYJsQAhl0\" width=\"420\" height=\"235\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>It&#8217;s all part of what Ben Shapiro terms&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<h1 class=\"headline\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/townhall.com\/columnists\/benshapiro\/2021\/04\/28\/the-circular-logic-of-systemic-racism-n2588619\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #800000; text-decoration: underline;\">The Circular Logic of Systemic Racism<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/h1>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/57lf53.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-93093\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/57lf53.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"420\" height=\"321\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/57lf53.jpeg 420w, https:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/57lf53-300x229.jpeg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 420px) 100vw, 420px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Last week, ex-police officer Derek Chauvin was convicted of second-degree murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">The evidence on the murder charges was weak; the evidence on manslaughter was significantly stronger.<\/span> Still, the jury took only 10 hours and zero questions to come to its conclusion: guilty on all counts.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #333399;\">In and of itself, the Chauvin case <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>never should have been<\/em><\/span> a national news story.<\/span> After all, an average of three suspects are shot by police every day in the United States, and thousands of homicides that have nothing whatsoever to do with the police take place in the United States every year. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">Theoretically, national news stories should be indicative of profound national problems, not man-bites-dog statistical rarities.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>But, of course, <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">that was the entire point<\/span><\/em> of elevating the George Floyd story to national attention: <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>to declare it indicative of a deeper rot at the core of America<\/em><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">Thus, Chauvin was convicted not of his individual criminal activity but of a charge that was never even brought against him: <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>the charge of racism<\/em><\/span>.<\/span> As Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>admitted<\/em><\/span>, there was <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>no evidence whatsoever<\/em><\/span> that Chauvin was a racist, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>or<\/em><\/span> that his killing of George Floyd was <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>motivated by race<\/em><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">&#8220;We don&#8217;t have <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">any evidence<\/span><\/em> that Derek Chauvin <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>factored in George Floyd&#8217;s race<\/em><\/span> as he did what he did,&#8221; Ellison ruefully told incredulous &#8220;60 Minutes&#8221; host Scott Pelley.<\/span> And Pelley, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>speaking for the entire establishment media<\/em><\/span> &#8212; a left-wing bubble thoroughly invested in the narrative of systemic American racism &#8212; responded, &#8220;<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>The whole world<\/em><\/span> sees this as a white officer killing a black man <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>because he is black<\/em><\/span>.&#8221; <span style=\"color: #008000;\">(<em>Thanks to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">you and your ilk<\/span>, Scott!<\/em>)<\/span><i class=\"fa fa-arrow-circle-right\"><\/i><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #333399;\">Pelley <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">isn&#8217;t wrong<\/span><\/em>.<\/span> In the end, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>evidence<\/em><\/span> for systemic racism is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>utterly unnecessary<\/em><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">Systemic racism requires <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>no evidence of intent<\/em><\/span>, either individual <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">or<\/span><\/em> systemic.<\/span> It requires <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>only evidence of disparate outcome by race<\/em><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">Which is why Ellison explained that even though he couldn&#8217;t charge <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Chauvin<\/em><\/span> with a hate crime, he could charge <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">the entire system with racism<\/span><\/em> in the Chauvin case: &#8220;In order for us to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>stop and pay serious attention<\/em><\/span> to this case <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>and<\/em><\/span> be <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>outraged by it<\/em><\/span>, it&#8217;s <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">not necessary<\/span><\/em> that Derek Chauvin had a specific racial intent to harm George Floyd.<\/span>\u00a0(P)eople of color, Black people, end up with harsh treatment from law enforcement<span style=\"color: #333399;\">. And <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">other folks doing the exact same thing just don&#8217;t<\/span><\/em>.&#8221;<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Now, statistically speaking, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>this is simply untrue<\/em><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">In late 2020, the Bureau of Justice Statistics released a report that found <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>no statistically significant difference by race between criminal activity and arrest<\/em><\/span> &#8212; in other words, you get <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>arrested<\/em><\/span> in America <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>if you are reported to have committed a crime<\/em><\/span>, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>no matter your race<\/em><\/span>.<\/span> Multiple studies, from Harvard&#8217;s Roland Fryer to professor Peter Moskos of John Jay College of Criminal Justice at City University New York, show that <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">police officers are less likely to kill black Americans than white Americans in similar circumstances<\/span><\/em>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #333399;\">But to <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">ask for evidence<\/span><\/em> of systemic racism beyond mere inequality of outcome <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>is to be complicit in systemic racism<\/em><\/span>, according to the circular logic of systemic racism.<\/span> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Any<\/em><\/span> incident of <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">white-cop-on-black-suspect<\/span><\/em> violence <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">must<\/span><\/em> be chalked up to the racist system; the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>evidence<\/em><\/span> of the racist system is the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>presence<\/em><\/span> of such violence in the first place; to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>deny<\/em><\/span> that race lies at the root of such incidents <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>makes you a cog in the racist system<\/em><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">The circular logic, protected by an enormous so-called Kafka trap &#8212; in which <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>protestations of innocence are treated as proof of guilt<\/em><\/span> &#8212; means that <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>systemic racism is subject to no falsification<\/em><\/span>.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>And that&#8217;s <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">precisely the point<\/span><\/em>. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">Systemic racism is a <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">fundamentalist religious belief<\/span><\/em>.<\/span> It posits original sin; it posits saints and prophets; it posits its own malevolent god of the gaps. <span style=\"color: #333399;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Most of all<\/em><\/span>, it <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>persecutes heretics in the name of a supposedly higher good<\/em><\/span>.<\/span> To be <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">saved<\/span><\/em> is to <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">declare fealty<\/span><\/em> to radical racial polarization; to be <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">damned<\/span><\/em> is to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>deny<\/em><\/span> such fealty.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>We&#8217;ll grant some buy into such pagan apostasy through ignorance and misinformation, though the truth is available to anyone of a mind to seek it.\u00a0 But what word better describes those who <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">know<\/span><\/em> the truth, yet continue to sow discord and division in the pursuit of personal power and profit than&#8230;<em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">evil<\/span><\/em>?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Now, here&#8217;s\u00a0<em>The Gouge<\/em>!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>First up, since we&#8217;re on the subject of evil, 46* is proposing yet <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>another<\/em><\/span> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-admin\/post.php?post=91927&amp;action=edit\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">multi-trillion dollar spending boondoggle<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/a>, we thought it appropriate we allow Kelly Johnson, writing at\u00a0<em>Inside Sources<\/em>, to explain how the promise the middle class won&#8217;t see an increase in their taxes to pay for any of this is a <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">bald-faced lie<\/span><\/em>:<\/strong><\/p>\n<h1 class=\"postTitle\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/insidesources.com\/how-one-biden-tax-proposal-will-hit-the-middle-class-hard\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #333399; color: #0000ff;\"><em>lowered tax rates for everyone<\/em><\/span> and especially corporations. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Biden also <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>PROMISED NOT<\/em><\/span> to raise taxes on incomes of less than $400,000 per year.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>But <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>terms are redefined constantly by progressives<\/em><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Rep. Mondaire Jones (D-N.Y.), for example, tweets that \u201cSupreme Court expansion is infrastructure.\u201d<\/span> <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">What isn\u2019t<\/span><\/em>?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>You will be told<\/em><\/span> that the tax plan <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>only taxes the wealthy<\/em><\/span>.<\/span> <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Untrue<\/span><\/em>.\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #0000ff;\"><em><a style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/timworstall\/2011\/09\/12\/corporations-do-not-pay-tax\/?sh=d5caeb15a0d8\" class=\"broken_link\">Corporations do not ultimately pay taxes<\/a><\/em><\/span>\u00a0\u2013 they <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>collect<\/em><\/span> them.<\/span> Their \u201cpromise\u201d <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>won\u2019t include<\/em><\/span>\u00a0<em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/robertwood\/2020\/08\/25\/this-biden-tax-hike-will-hit-mom--pop-hard\/?sh=710357912d8d\" class=\"broken_link\">intergenerational transfers of property and assets, like houses, family businesses, family farms, and stock<\/a><\/span><\/em><\/span>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Meet\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #0000ff;\"><em><a style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/advisor\/investing\/stepped-up-basis-biden-tax-plan\/\" class=\"broken_link\">stepped-up basis<\/a><\/em><\/span>.<\/span> Here\u2019s how that works. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Say you\u2019re a 60-year-old almost-retiree whose 90-year-old parent just passed away.<\/span> You are bequeathed their Florida home acquired in 1980 for $100,000. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Its value is now $500,000.<\/span> Hopefully, it won\u2019t be complicated by a reverse mortgage or isn\u2019t burdened by other forms of leveraged debt. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">You sell it for $500,000.<\/span> Thanks to \u201cstepped-up basis,\u201d <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>you should owe no federal capital gains tax on the sale<\/em><\/span>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">But what happens if all this happens <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>after<\/em><\/span> Democrats <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>eliminate<\/em><\/span> this so-called \u201cloophole?\u201d<\/span> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>You\u2019ll owe capital gains taxes on the gain in value since the property was purchased 41 years ago, most of which is probably inflation<\/em><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">That\u2019s a likely <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>20 percent tax hit on the \u201cgain\u201d of $400,000<\/em><\/span> \u2013 some $<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>80,000 to Uncle Sam<\/em><\/span>.<\/span> For people with incomes over $1 million, Biden may raise Capital Gains taxes to match the highest personal income tax rate of 39.5 percent.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">The Biden plan may\u00a0exempt\u00a0the first $1 million of \u201cunrealized\u201d gains, but that\u2019s a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>shallow threshold<\/em><\/span> for many family businesses and farms.<\/span> And it is not just homes or beach property. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">It includes <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>stocks and family businesses<\/em><\/span>.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>Being allowed to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>keep<\/em><\/span> your or your family\u2019s <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>own money<\/em><\/span> is now a \u201c<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>tax loophole<\/em><\/span>.\u201d<\/strong><\/span> &#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>This reminds us of the caveat the preacher offers at the end of this scene from <em>High Plains Drifter<\/em>:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/lC2JaIyunVo?start=0&amp;end=48&amp;\" width=\"420\" height=\"235\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>As The Boss noted, all the while, we&#8217;re borrowing money to provide food, shelter, education and health care for hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants streaming over the our open southern border.\u00a0 Yeah,&#8230;along with the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>tens of millions<\/em><\/span> already here.\u00a0 Or as Jim Freeman termed it at <em>Best of the Web<\/em>, we&#8217;re &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/the-irs-is-bidens-infrastructure-11619634319?mod=djemBestOfTheWeb\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">funding massive entitlements with payers to be named later<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/a>.&#8221;, as well as\u00a0&#8220;imposing more federal debt on our children to enrich the education system that keeps informing us from a distance that it cares about our children.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Is there a snowflake&#8217;s chance in Hell someone on the Socialist side of the Senate aisle will finally realize enough is enough?!?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Next, we offer seven selections specifically chosen for inquiring Conservative minds:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>(1). Bill Meisen forwarded a real shocker, as FOX informs us\u00a0<\/strong><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/us\/louisville-police-staffing-dire-straits-high-crime-rates-recruitment-woes\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Louisville police department staffing &#8216;in dire straits&#8217; amid high crime rates, recruitment woes<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/span><\/em><strong>.\u00a0 As River City Fraternal Order of Police press secretary Dave Mutchler, observed, &#8220;We can&#8217;t emphasize enough how critically and dangerously low our manpower is, and interestingly enough, those who would break the law are paying attention to that.
