due:<\/span>\u00a0<em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a style=\"color: #ff0000; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.vanityfair.com\/news\/2021\/06\/the-lab-leak-theory-inside-the-fight-to-uncover-covid-19s-origins\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Vanity Fair\u00a0magazine appears to have found one of the smoking guns of this entire abominable story of the COVID-19 pandemic<\/a><\/span><\/em><span style=\"color: #333399;\">, suggesting that in early 2020, some corners of the federal government <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">explicitly discouraged a full investigation into how the pandemic started<\/span><\/em>:<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><em>A months long\u00a0Vanity Fair\u00a0investigation, interviews with more than 40 people, and a review of hundreds of pages of U.S. government documents, including internal memos, meeting minutes, and email correspondence, found that conflicts of interest, stemming in part from <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">large government grants supporting controversial virology research<\/span>, hampered the U.S. investigation into COVID-19\u2019s origin at every step. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">In one State Department meeting, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">officials seeking to demand transparency from the Chinese government<\/span> say they were <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">explicitly told<\/span> by colleagues <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">not<\/span> to explore the Wuhan Institute of Virology\u2019s gain-of-function research, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">because it would bring unwelcome attention to U.S. government funding of it<\/span>.<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><em>In an internal memo obtained by\u00a0Vanity Fair,\u00a0Thomas DiNanno, former acting assistant secretary of the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">State Department\u2019s Bureau of Arms Control, Verification, and Compliance<\/span>, wrote that <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">staff from two bureaus<\/span>, his own <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">and<\/span> the Bureau of International Security and Nonproliferation, \u201c<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">warned\u201d leaders within his bureau \u201cnot to pursue an investigation into the origin of COVID-19<\/span>\u201d because it would \u201c\u2018<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">open a can of worms\u2019 if it continued<\/span>.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #333399;\">Are you <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>kidding<\/em><\/span> me?<\/span> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Whose side are they on<\/em><\/span>?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong><em>As officials at the meeting discussed what they could share with the public, they were advised by Christopher Park, the director of the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">State Department\u2019s Biological Policy Staff in the Bureau of International Security and Nonproliferation<\/span>, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">not to say anything<\/span> that would point to the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">U.S. government\u2019s own role in gain-of-function research<\/span>, according to documentation of the meeting obtained by\u00a0Vanity Fair.<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Some<\/span> of the attendees were \u201cabsolutely floored,\u201d said an official familiar with the proceedings. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">That <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">someone in the U.S. government<\/span> could \u201cmake an argument that is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">so nakedly against transparency<\/span>, in light of the unfolding catastrophe, was\u2026<\/span><\/em><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">shocking and disturbing<\/span><\/span><em><span style=\"color: #333399;\">.\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><em>Park, who in 2017 had been involved in <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">lifting a U.S. government moratorium on funding for gain-of-function research<\/span>, was <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">not the only official<\/span> to warn the State Department investigators against digging in sensitive places. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">As the group probed the lab-leak scenario, among other possibilities, its members were repeatedly advised not to open a \u201cPandora\u2019s box,\u201d said four former State Department officials interviewed by\u00a0Vanity Fair.<\/span>\u00a0The admonitions \u201c<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">smelled like a cover-up<\/span>,\u201d said Thomas DiNanno, \u201cand I wasn\u2019t going to be part of it.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">This<\/span><\/em>&#8230;is evidence that the seemingly hyperbolic conspiracy theories <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>are true<\/em><\/span>.<\/span> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>High-level U.S. government officials recognized<\/em><\/span> that gain-of-function research \u2014\u00a0<em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a style=\"color: #ff0000; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/corner\/the-nih-gain-of-function-research-decision-wasnt-partisan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">which was controversial even among virologists<\/a><\/span><\/em>\u00a0\u2014 that <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>they had indirectly funded<\/em><\/span>, <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">may well have been the cause of the worst global pandemic since 1918<\/span><\/em>, killing millions. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">U.S. government laboratories hadn\u2019t been doing the research of going into caves and mines in remote corners of China, collecting virus samples from bats, <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">and figuring out how to make those viruses more dangerous and contagious<\/span><\/em>, but the U.S. government had\u00a0<em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">partially paid for it<\/span>.<\/em>\u00a0<\/span>And they <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>feared the consequences<\/em><\/span> of that disclosure <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>so immensely<\/em><\/span>, they concluded <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">the public could not be informed<\/span><\/em> about this.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>The story gets <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>even more shocking<\/em><\/span>:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><em>For most of the past year, the lab-leak scenario was treated <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">not simply as unlikely or even inaccurate<\/span> but as <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">morally out-of-bounds<\/span>. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">In late March, former Centers for Disease Control director Robert Redfield <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">received death threats from fellow scientists<\/span> after telling CNN that he believed COVID-19 had originated in a lab.<\/span> \u201cI was threatened and ostracized because I proposed another hypothesis,\u201d Redfield told\u00a0Vanity Fair.\u00a0<span style=\"color: #333399;\">\u201cI <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">expected<\/span> it from politicians.<\/span> I <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">didn\u2019t expect<\/span> it from science.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #333399;\">Hypothesis: If someone is so upset about a theory you\u2019ve offered that they threaten to kill you over it, <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">your theory is probably right<\/span><\/em>.<\/span> Nobody makes death threats over contentions that the moon is made of green cheese.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>Then there\u2019s this simple, clear, illuminating point from a professor who\u2019s been ahead of the curve on this from the start:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><em>Dr. Richard Ebright, board of governors professor of chemistry and chemical biology at Rutgers University, said that <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">from the very first reports of a novel bat-related coronavirus outbreak in Wuhan<\/span>, it took him \u201ca <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">nanosecond<\/span> or a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">picosecond<\/span>\u201d to consider <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">a link to the Wuhan Institute of Virology<\/span>. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">Only <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">two other labs in the world<\/span>, in Galveston, Texas, and Chapel Hill, North Carolina, were doing similar research.<\/span> \u201cIt\u2019s not a dozen cities,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">three places<\/span>.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Three places in the world<\/em><\/span> are doing this kind of research on coronaviruses in bats, <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">and a novel coronavirus most similar to those found in bats causes a global pandemic that started in one of those three places<\/span><\/em>.<\/span> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>What are the odds<\/em><\/span>?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/5a0lxc.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-93935\" (max-width: 420px) 100vw, 420px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Think about it.\u00a0 This all comes back to the highest-paid federal bureaucrat, a guy who:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>In 2012 <a href=\"https:\/\/journals.asm.org\/doi\/full\/10.1128\/mBio.00359-12\" class=\"broken_link\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">stated in writing the potential benefits of such research was worth the risk of a global pandemic<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/a>.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/as-coronavirus-crisis-deepens-trump-and-fauci-form-complicated-bond-11585682074\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Talked Trump into destroying not only the American economy<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/a> but his chances for reelection, and The Donald was ignorant enough to let him.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Was <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" front of a camera or sing the praises of the ChiComs and the WHO<\/em><\/span><\/a>.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>At one time or another took both sides of every possible issue involving the Wuhan
