The Backlash against Critical Race Theory Is Real<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/h1>\n

No matter how much progressives want to claim otherwise, parents are genuinely concerned about a divisive worldview being imposed on their children<\/span><\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/h3>\n

“R<\/strong><\/span><\/span>eturning<\/span>\u00a0once again to the shallow well from which she has pulled the majority of her journalistic water,\u00a0The New Yorker<\/em>\u2019s Jane Mayer\u00a0suggested<\/a><\/em><\/span>\u00a0last week that the escalating pushback against critical race theory \u201chas all the red flags of an dark money astroturf campaign.\u201d We are stuck, it seems, in Stage One of the K\u00fcbler-Ross Scale of Progressive Political Grief.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

If they wish to, figures such as Mayer can spend the next few years insisting that the resistance to critical race theory that we are seeing from parents across the country is little more than a mirage. Fingers firmly in ears, they can maintain that their detractors have invented the controversy from whole cloth, that an astroturfing effort by the Koch Brothers or the Manhattan Institute has tricked them, or that their objections ring hollow because they don\u2019t know what critical race theory \u201cactually\u201d is.<\/span> Sneering, scoffing, and laughing off the revolt, they can submit in anger that those complaining about the development are suffering from \u201cwhite fragility\u201d or are engaged in a \u201cmoral panic\u201d or are just trying desperately to prevent their kids from learning about slavery and civil rights.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

What they\u00a0can\u2019t<\/em><\/span>\u00a0do, however, is make any<\/em><\/span> of that true<\/em><\/span>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Precision in language is important, and yet, after a certain point, it matters less what we choose to call a given trend than that we acknowledge that said trend exists. And mark my words: The backlash against critical race theory most certainly exists.<\/span> It is being driven by real people, many of whom I have seen with my own eyes; it has been constructed atop a discrete and comprehensible set of objections; and it is being fought on behalf of a class of citizens \u2014 children<\/em><\/span> \u2014 whose interests arouse the rawest emotions in all of politics<\/em><\/span>. Those who dismiss this development too harshly or too pedantically do so at their peril<\/span><\/strong><\/span>…”<\/p>\n

“…There\u2019s currency in victimhood on the left; it\u2019s an aspired to status. …<\/span>I hold them all<\/em><\/span> in contempt, equally.<\/span> But this week, I have a special<\/em><\/span> place of disdain in my heart for white liberals. Go jump in a lake, or take a long walk off a short pier.<\/span> Maybe one of the piers at the all white beach club\u00a0Democrat Senator Sheldon Whitehouse<\/a><\/span><\/em><\/span>\u00a0has been a member of for decades<\/em><\/span>, where his wife<\/em><\/span> is one of the decision-makers.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Told you<\/em><\/span>, white liberals are the absolute worst<\/span><\/em>.<\/strong><\/span>“<\/p>\n
