<span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">Sources in the art world say the prices being floated\u2014from $75,000 to $500,000, depending on the piece\u2014are seriously high, especially for an unknown painter doing a first sale.<\/span> <span style=\"color: #800080;\">So the question is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>who<\/em><\/span> might be quietly trying to funnel money to President Biden\u2019s son.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">The art sale is a bad idea<\/span> <span style=\"color: #008000;\">(<em>&#8220;bad&#8221;? Just &#8220;<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">bad<\/span>&#8220;?!?<\/em>)<\/span><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">, full stop.<\/span> <span style=\"color: #800080;\">But at least <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">transparency<\/span><\/em> would let bids be scrutinized in real time, preferably before a sale is final.<\/span><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Instead<\/em><\/span> the White House is proposing <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">opacity<\/span><\/em>, even as its press aides brag that President Biden \u201chas established the highest ethical standards of any administration in American history.\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/span>&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Though the editors at the <em>Journal<\/em>\u00a0still grant Hunter the benefit of the doubt, we&#8217;re nowhere near as charitable, instead concluding\u00a0this latest influence-peddling enterprise from the Biden crime family, along with its leader, STINKS&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/nI67dSs3dXU?start=9&amp;end=11&amp;\" width=\"420\" height=\"235\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Biden family: Not only do they lie like dogs, but they&#8217;re all as crooked as a hound&#8217;s hind leg.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Next, in a follow-up to our earlier items regarding the Marxist origins and purpose of Critical Race Theory, writing at <em>American Greatness<\/em>, Mackubin Owens echoes our assertions as he asks and answers&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<h1 style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><a style=\"color: #333399;\" href=\"https:\/\/amgreatness.com\/2021\/07\/10\/whats-wrong-with-crt\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #ff9900; text-decoration: underline;\">What\u2019s Wrong With CRT<\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">?<\/span><\/span><\/h1>\n<h3 class=\"mb-5 text-lg font-light text-center text-gray-400 lg:mx-16 md:text-xl font-byline md:mb-10\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><a style=\"color: #ff0000;\" href=\"https:\/\/amgreatness.com\/2021\/07\/10\/whats-wrong-with-crt\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Critical Race Theory rejects the principles that underpinned all advances in the rights of Black Americans, from the Civil War constitutional amendments to the Civil Rights Act of 1964<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/miseducation.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-95268\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/miseducation.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"420\" height=\"275\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/miseducation.png 420w, https:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/miseducation-300x196.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 420px) 100vw, 420px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8220;&#8230;<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">Contrary to the claims of some of its defenders, CRT is not simply a benign academic theory that marks another milestone in the advancement of civil rights for African Americans.<\/span> I believe one of the main reasons that some dismiss concerns about the destructiveness of CRT is that <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>they confuse it with \u201ccritical thinking<\/em><\/span>,\u201d an educational concept that <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>stresses reason, the ability to engage in reflective and independent thinking, and understanding the logical connection between ideas<\/em><\/span>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">If CRT were a species of critical thinking, that would be fine.<\/span> But <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">it isn\u2019t<\/span><\/em>. <span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">Instead, it is a species of what Marx called \u201c<i>kritik<\/i>,\u201d which in the guise of \u201ccritical theory,\u201d\u00a0<em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">rejects the validity of rationality and objective truth<\/span><\/em>.<\/span> For Marxists, critical theory\u00a0has\u00a0a distinctive aim: to unmask the ideology that justifies some form of social or economic oppression\u2014to reveal it\u00a0<i>as<\/i>\u00a0ideology. <span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">Critical theory\u00a0posits two categories: oppressed and oppressors.<\/span> In Marx\u2019s original formulations, the lens was economic class. <span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">The bourgeoisie was the oppressor class and the proletariat were the oppressed.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>A 20th-century sect called the Frankfurt School\u2014which included Max Horkheimer, Theodor Adorno, Herbert Marcuse, and J\u00fcrgen Habermas, following in the steps of Antonio Gramsci\u2014developed and refined this Marxian project, expanding its application beyond economic class.\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">Thus, CRT as a subset of critical theory substitutes\u00a0<i>race<\/i>\u00a0for\u00a0<i>class<\/i>.<\/span> According to CRT, the entire system of a society is defined by those who have power (whites) and those who don\u2019t (people of color).<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">As such, CRT cannot be seen as just a contribution to expanded civil rights.<\/span> It is fundamentally at odds with the principles that underpinned all advances in the rights of black Americans, from the Civil War constitutional amendments to the Civil Rights Act of 1964: that all Americans should be treated equally, regardless of race, color, creed, or religion. <span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">These are philosophically linked to the Declaration of Independence, which holds that human beings are equal in their possession of natural rights and that, accordingly, no one has the natural right to rule over another without the latter\u2019s consent.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>But CRT attacks the American founding. <span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">Advocates of CRT do not wish to fulfill the promises of the American founding, which they regard as racist.<\/span> Instead, they want to replace the principles of the founding with something radically different, for instance, replacing such concepts as \u201cequality\u201d with \u201cequity\u201d and subverting the meaning of \u201cjustice.\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">As far as learning about CRT, that\u2019s fine as long as it is treated as a real \u201ctheory,\u201d subject to testing and falsification.<\/span> That is the essence of a theory. <span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">A good theory accomplishes at a minimum, two things: it explains phenomena; and it predicts future outcomes.<\/span> If a theory accomplishes these two things, it can also serve as the basis for policy prescriptions. <span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">But CRT fails on the first criterion.<\/span> It denigrates African Americans\u00a0by stripping them of all agency or free will. <span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">According to CRT, blacks are simply inanimate objects, ciphers who are victims of forces over which they have no control.<\/span> Nothing could be more demeaning to an entire group of American citizens, many of whom have risen to high status, than the claim that they are helpless victims of impersonal forces.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8230;<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">But CRT\u2019s shortcomings as a theory are also illustrated by the fact that it cannot be questioned.<\/span> The normal methods of testing a hypothesis are not permitted when it comes to CRT, which\u00a0employs a rhetorical tool developed by the neo-Marxist philosopher Herbert Marcuse, called \u201crepressive tolerance.\u201d <span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">According to Marcuse, to tolerate all ideas\u2014the essence of reasonable discourse that traditionally has defined the mission of education\u2014is, in fact, repressive, since it does not \u201cprivilege\u201d the \u201ccorrect\u201d ideas.<\/span> True tolerance, Marcuse argued, \u201cwould mean intolerance against movements from the Right and toleration of movements from the Left.\u201d\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">Adopting Marcuse\u2019s logic, CRT brooks no dissent.<\/span> To argue against CRT is itself fundamentally racist, evidence of the dissenter\u2019s \u201cwhite fragility,\u201d \u201cunconscious bias,\u201d or \u201cinternalized white supremacy.\u201d <span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">Thus rather than offering a perspective that invites debate, CRT \u201ceducation\u201d is essentially <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>ideological indoctrination<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span>&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>We realize <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/?p=95113\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">we&#8217;ve covered this ground before<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/a>, but here&#8217;s the juice: Neither the architects of CRT nor most of its proponents\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>believe<\/em><\/span> the bullsh*t they&#8217;re peddling.\u00a0 For them, it&#8217;s simply a tool with which to achieve an end: Revolution resulting in the overthrow of capitalism and democracy in our nation and the establishment of a totalitarian Marxist state in which <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>they<\/em><\/span> will be the animals more equal than others.\u00a0 <em>The Who<\/em> had it right:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/SHhrZgojY1Q?start=472&amp;end=479&amp;\" width=\"420\" height=\"235\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>The difference being, unlike The Donald, once having <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>achieved<\/em><\/span> power, the new boss won&#8217;t <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>willingly<\/em><\/span>&#8230;or <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>easily<\/em><\/span>&#8230;<em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">surrender it<\/span><\/em>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>In a related item which, though rather lengthy, is a <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">must-read<\/span><\/em> well worth your time, courtesy of Hillsdale College&#8217;s <em>Imprimis<\/em>, Mark Steyn recounts&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<h1 class=\"entry-title\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/imprimis.hillsdale.edu\/increasingly-unrecognizable-civilization\/\" class=\"broken_link\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000; text-decoration: underline;\">Our Increasingly Unrecognizable Civilization<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/h1>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/afb071021dAPC20210710044522.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span class=\"s1\">&#8220;<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>I live about 20 minutes south of the Canadian border, which used to be called the longest undefended frontier in the world. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">People moved freely back and forth across it all day every day.<\/span> But now it\u2019s been closed for over a year. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">At one point my daughter asked me to drive her up there, because there was a 30-minute opportunity for people on one side to talk to their friends on the other.<\/span> \u201cSad!\u201d as President Trump would say. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">It was like Checkpoint Charlie in Berlin during the Cold War, except that\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><i>both<\/i><\/span>\u00a0sides are now like East Berlin. <\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><span class=\"s1\">I don\u2019t know how this happened, but it is just one indication that America, and the West in general, have become almost unrecognizable from what they were not that long ago.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><span class=\"s1\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\">Look at just three things we have lost.<\/span> <\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>One is equality before the law, something absolutely essential to a free society. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">In its place, we now have politicized law.<\/span> If a policeman fatally shoots someone, whether his name is released to the public depends on whether the shooting is consistent with the preferred narrative of the ruling class. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">A policeman recently took down a young woman who was threatening the life of another young woman with a knife, and that policeman was <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>immediately identified<\/em><\/span>\u2014indeed, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>his photo was posted and he was threatened by NBA superstar LeBron James<\/em><\/span> on Twitter.<\/span> On the other hand, we know <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>nothing<\/em><\/span> of the policeman <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>who shot dead an unarmed woman<\/em><\/span> in the U.S. Capitol on January 6. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">His name will apparently <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">never<\/span><\/em> be released to the public.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><span class=\"s1\">Second, border control. <span style=\"color: #333399;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Functioning societies<\/span><\/em>, at least since the Peace of Westphalia three centuries ago, <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">have borders<\/span><\/em>.<\/span> America has <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>no<\/em><\/span> southern border and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>no<\/em><\/span> plans to get one. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">The official position of our government seems to be that <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">any of the seven billion persons on this planet<\/span><\/em> has a right to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>come and stay in the U.S. for three years<\/em><\/span>, until his or her assigned court date comes up.<\/span> As the number of people with pending cases continues to grow, that three years will extend out to five or seven or 15 years.<span style=\"color: #333399;\"> If we get all seven billion people to come here, the court system will break down entirely and maybe we can go back to having a functioning border.<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><span class=\"s1\">And third, dare I bring up the fact that it is a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>real question<\/em><\/span> whether we can go back to agreeing to have <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>open and honest elections<\/em><\/span>? <span style=\"color: #333399;\">And if we <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>don\u2019t<\/em><\/span> have open and honest elections, control of our borders, and equality before the law, then we <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>don\u2019t<\/em><\/span> have the conditions for politics <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>or<\/em><\/span> free government. <\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><span class=\"s1\">And here\u2019s the thing. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">It is not at all clear to me that <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>many of America\u2019s conservative politicians understand the seriousness<\/em><\/span> of all this.<\/span> You can see it in the fact that they go around trying to scare people with the specter of a \u201cradical socialist agenda.\u201d <span style=\"color: #333399;\">For <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">well over a year now<\/span><\/em>, we have been living in a world in which <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>it\u2019s accepted as normal that the state has essentially unlimited power<\/em><\/span>\u2014and in which <span style=\"text-decoration:
