relentless state surveillance. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">What\u2019s more, because of the psychological consequences of realizing that your mistakes set off a global pandemic that killed more than 4 million people, everyone involved with that lab is in the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>deepest denial imaginable<\/em><\/span>.<\/span> It is <span style=\"text-decoration: to ones found in bats, started at the metaphorical doorstep of one of the three laboratories in the entire world conducting gain-of-function research on novel coronaviruses found in bats.\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Those facts have <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #0000ff;\"><em><a style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/2021\/05\/the-considerable-if-circumstantial-evidence-of-a-wuhan-lab-leak\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">never seemed like a plausible coincidence<\/a><\/em><\/span><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">.<\/span> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>From the beginning<\/em><\/span> of the first cases, the Chinese government has <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>lied<\/em><\/span> to the World Health Organization and the rest of the world, <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">blocked<\/span><\/em> outside investigators as long as possible, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>withheld<\/em><\/span> requested data, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>hidden<\/em><\/span> previously available data, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>and<\/em><\/span> made the spectacularly implausible claim that this was an American bioweapon. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">The most genetically similar, previously existing virus killed three miners in Yunnan Province back in 2012, a site that is about <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>1,100 miles away<\/em><\/span>.<\/span> Samples of that deadly virus <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>were taken to the Wuhan Institute of Virology<\/em><\/span>, along with many other samples from bats in the same mineshaft. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">But <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>no one<\/em><\/span> has found <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">this precise virus<\/span><\/em>, SARS-CoV-2, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>occurring in animals in nature<\/em><\/span>.<\/span> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>No one<\/em><\/span> has found animal smugglers who were sickened by or died from SARS-CoV-2 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>before<\/em><\/span> the outbreak in December 2019. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>And three Wuhan Institute of Virology staffers were hospitalized in November 2019 \u201cwith symptoms consistent with both COVID-19 and common seasonal illness<\/em><\/span>.\u201d<\/span> Any evidence of a lab accident that we cannot find can be plausibly explained <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>by underline;\"><em>Implausible answer<\/em><\/span>: <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Everything<\/span><\/em> listed under No. 2 is just a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>big coincidence<\/em><\/span>, and we should trust the assessments of virologists who wish to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>continue<\/em><\/span> gain-of-function research and who <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>insist<\/em><\/span> that a consequential accident is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>simply
