Daily Gouge Archive, Monday, July 19th, 2021"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>It&#8217;s Monday, July 19th, 2021&#8230;but before beginning, we offer the conclusion to a recent column by Andy McCarthy, three short paragraphs of insightful commentary Conservatives would do well to heed:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8220;&#8230;<span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #008080;\">If Republicans are going to have <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>any<\/em><\/span> chance of stopping the ruinous Democratic reign by winning in 2022 and 2024, they must <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>stop relitigating<\/em><\/span> the lost presidential election of 2020.<\/span> <span style=\"color: #800080;\">Trump will <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>never<\/em><\/span> let that go, but Republicans <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>have to<\/em><\/span>.<\/span> <span style=\"color: #008080;\">Keep in mind: across the nation, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>down-ballot<\/em><\/span> conservative Republicans <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>significantly outperformed Trump<\/em><\/span> \u2014 whereas in Georgia, Trump <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>single-handedly<\/em><\/span> cost Republicans the Senate seats they needed to stop Biden\u2019s demolition of the economy and conveyor-belt appointment of woke-progressive judges and bureaucrats.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>Donald Trump <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>cannot win<\/em><\/span> the presidency again. <span style=\"color: #008080;\">He is popular in a number of places, but <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>poison<\/em><\/span> in most others.<\/span> The former president will <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>never again<\/em><\/span> have what he\u2019d need to win a national election:\u00a0<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/magazine\/2020\/11\/02\/trump%E2%80%88yes\/#slide-1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the reluctant support of doubters<\/a><\/span><\/em><\/span>\u00a0who, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>for the sake of stopping Democrats<\/em><\/span>, were willing to take a chance on his flawed character. <span style=\"color: #008080;\">Had it not been for Trump\u2019s bizarre post-election performance, culminating in the disgraceful Capitol riot, congressional Republicans would be in a position to stop Democrats <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>right now<\/em><\/span> \u2014 we wouldn\u2019t be looking at another three to six trillion dollars down the drain (along with a\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #0000ff;\"><em><a style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/2021\/07\/democrats-new-amnesty-gambit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">stealth amnesty plan<\/a><\/em><\/span>, a potential\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #0000ff;\"><em><a style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/2021\/03\/pelosis-h-r-1-is-an-authoritarian-outrage\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">federal takeover of elections<\/a><\/em><\/span>, and anything else on the progressive wish-list that they can manage to slam past the Senate parliamentarian).<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>The reasons for Trump\u2019s political rise and the many positive aspects of his presidency hold important lessons for Republicans. <span style=\"color: #008080;\">But those positive aspects <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>mainly involved enabling conservative advisers and subordinates to implement policy<\/em><\/span> \u2014 often <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>against<\/em><\/span> his instincts, which are <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>not conservative<\/em><\/span>.<\/span> The future of the party <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>has to be conservative<\/em><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #008080;\">If the future is Trump, it will <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>no longer be<\/em><\/span> the conservative party, and it will be in the wilderness for a very long time.<\/span><\/strong><\/span>&#8220;<\/p>\n<p><strong>At the risk of offending some who still consider an individual as flawed and divisive as The Donald the answer to America&#8217;s problems, we&#8217;d offer the same advice Indiana Jones&#8217;s father gave him&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/nGTEXqudVJM?start=91&amp;end=100&amp;\" width=\"420\" height=\"235\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8230;as well as remind you the list of potential GOP candidates for 2024, including but not limited to&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/aaa-16.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>genuinely<\/em><\/span> Conservative&#8230;<\/strong><strong>than 2016.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Now, here&#8217;s <em>The Gouge<\/em>!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>First up, the great Victor Davis Hanson relates the term the Socialist animals far more equal than others no longer utter:<\/strong><\/p>\n<h1 style=\"color: #808000;\">.<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/Rich-Democrats3.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" lower-class Americans listened to multimillionaires of all races and genders lecture them on their various pathologies and oppressions?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #808000;\">Million-dollar-a year university presidents virtue signal on the cheap their own sort of \u201cunearned white privilege.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0Multimillionaire Meghan Markle and the Obamas, from their plush estates, indict Americans for their biases. <span style=\"color: #333399;\"><span style=\"color: #808000;\">Former Black Lives Matter founder and cultural Marxist Patrisse Khan-Cullors Brignac decries the oppressive victimization she and others have suffered\u2014from one of her four newly acquired homes.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/span><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>Do we need another performance-art sermon on America\u2019s innate unfairness from a Hollywood billionaire such as Beyonc\u00e9, Jay-Z, or Oprah Winfrey\u2014or a multimillion-dollar-per year Delta Airlines or Coca-Cola CEO?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #808000;\">During the 1980s cultural war, the Left\u2019s mantra was \u201crace, class, and gender.\u201d<\/span> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Occasionally<\/em><\/span> we still hear of that trifecta, but the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>class<\/em><\/span> part has now <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>increasingly dropped out<\/em><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #808000;\">The neglect of class is ironic given that <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>dozens<\/em><\/span> of recent studies conclude <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>class differences are widening as never before<\/em><\/span>.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>Middle-class incomes among all races have stagnated and family net worth has declined. <span style=\"color: #808000;\">Far greater percentages of rising incomes go to the already rich.<\/span> Student debt, mostly a phenomenon of the middle and lower classes, has hit $1.7 trillion dollars.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #808000;\">States like California have bifurcated into Medieval-style societies. <\/span>The state\u2019s progressive coastal elite can boast of some of the highest incomes in the nation.<span style=\"color: #808000;\"> But in the more conservative north and central interior nearly a third of the population lives below the poverty line, explaining why <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">one of every three American welfare recipients lives in California<\/span><\/em>.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>California\u2019s heating and cooling, gasoline, and housing\u2014the stuff of life\u2014<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>are the highest in the continental United States<\/em><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #808000;\">Most of these spiraling costs are attributable to polices embraced by an upper-class elite\u2014in Silicon Valley, Hollywood, and marquee universities\u2014whose incomes shield them from the deleterious consequences of their utopian bromides.<\/span> The poor and middle class have no such insulation.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #808000;\"><strong>So why are we <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>not talking<\/em><\/span> about class?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>First, we are watching historic changes in political alignment.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #808000;\">The two parties are <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>switching<\/em><\/span> class constituents.<\/span> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Sixty-five percent<\/em><\/span> of Americans making <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>over $500,000<\/em><\/span> are now Democrats. <span style=\"color: #808000;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Seventy-four percent<\/em><\/span> of those who earn <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>under $100,000<\/em><\/span> are Republicans.<\/span> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Gone<\/em><\/span> are the days of working people voting automatically Democratic or Republicans caricatured as a party of stockbrokers on golf courses.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8230;<\/span><strong><span style=\"color: #808000;\">The Left does not wish to admit <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>it<\/em><\/span> has become <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>the party of wealth<\/em><\/span>.<\/span> All too often its stale revolutionary speechifying sounds more like penance arising from guilt than genuine advocacy for the middle class of all races.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8230;<\/span><strong><span style=\"color: #808000;\">America is a plutocracy, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>not<\/em><\/span> a genocracy.<\/span> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Wealth<\/em><\/span>, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>not race<\/em><\/span>, now more likely ensures one power, influence and the good life. <span style=\"color: #808000;\">In the pre-Civil Rights past, race was often fused to class, and the two terms were logically used interchangeably to cite oppression and inequality.<\/span>\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>But such a canard is fossilized<\/em><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #808000;\">And so are those who desperately cling to it.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>The more the elites scream their woke banalities, the more they seem to fear that <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>they<\/em><\/span>, not most Americans, are <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>the real privileged, the coddled, the pampered<\/em><\/span>\u2014and sometimes the victimizers.<\/strong><\/span>&#8220;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Not &#8220;sometimes&#8221;; ALL the time.\u00a0 Hells bells, if the likes of Patrisse&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/e7X01_j_oDA?start=128&amp;end=130&amp;\" width=\"420\" height=\"235\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8230;Cullors can amass sufficient wealth in four short years to purchase four homes, and Fat Stacey, despite what must be an incredibly massive monthly food bill, go from deeply in debt in 2018 to owning two homes today, there&#8217;s an awful lot of money to be by convincing a group of people they are unfairly and inequitably downtrodden and aggrieved, then pretending to advocate for them.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Turning from words you can&#8217;t speak to those you can&#8217;t write, Jim Geraghty offered this insightful observation in his <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/the-morning-jolt\/the-who-director-makes-an-about-face-on-chinas-covid-narrative\/?utm_source=Sailthru&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=MJ_210716&amp;utm_term=Jolt-Smart\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Friday Morning Jolt<\/em><\/span><\/a><\/span>:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/Balls2-1.38.56-PM.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-95594\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/Balls2-1.38.56-PM.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"402\" height=\"420\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/corner\/jen-psaki-just-escalated-the-conservative-war-with-big-tech\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said yesterday<\/a><\/em><\/span>: <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">\u201cWe\u2019ve <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>increased disinformation research and tracking<\/em><\/span> within the Surgeon General\u2019s office.<\/span> We\u2019re <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>flagging problematic posts<\/em><\/span> for Facebook that spread disinformation.\u201d <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">And Facebook is presumably then removing them.<\/span> People argue about\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #0000ff;\"><em><a style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.britannica.com\/topic\/fascism\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"broken_link\">the definition of fascism<\/a><\/em><\/span>\u00a0all the time, but <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>one critical element<\/em><\/span> is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>the suppression of freedom of expression and dissent by the government and private institutions operating in tandem<\/em><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">It is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>much tougher<\/em><\/span> to make the argument, \u201cStop treating this like government censorship, Facebook is a private company and private entity, it can decide what material is acceptable and what material should be removed,\u201d when Facebook starts making those decisions based on communications from the federal government.<\/span><\/strong><\/span>&#8220;<\/p>\n<p><strong>If Mark Milley would pull his head out of his a*s, put his country before his career for a moment and pay attention,\u00a0<\/strong><strong>he might come to comprehend which political party and President actually approximate the actions and policies of the Nazis, and appreciate the wisdom of one of our two greatest Presidents, as forwarded by Balls Cotton:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a
