in\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Philadelphia, we breezed through customs (baggage claim was another story), and easily scored an Uber to the Wilmington, DE Amtrak station\u00a0(which, thanks to him funneling a generous donation from taxpayers to the overfunded, underperforming National Railroad Passenger Corporation, 46* got the station named after himself).\u00a0 Arriving well in advance of our 6:17 PM departure, we decided to take an earlier train.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Imagine our surprise when the ticket agent informed us, having made our reservation more than 14 days in advance, our tickets had been purchased at a reduced fare the railroad wouldn&#8217;t honor for an earlier train.\u00a0 So if we wanted to catch the 5:27 Northeast Regional to BWI station rather than the same train leaving some 50 minutes later, we&#8217;d have to pay <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>triple the cost<\/em><\/span>, despite the fact the 5:17 had plenty of open seats in business class.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>However<\/em>, were we willing to travel in <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>coach<\/em><\/span>, we not only could ride the 5:27, but get a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>refund<\/em><\/span> for the fare difference between business and coach.\u00a0 So while this federally-owned money pit was unwilling to let TLJ and us occupy open seats on an earlier train unless we ponied up 3X the cost, they <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>were<\/em><\/span> willing to charge us <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>less<\/em><\/span> money for a seat little different from what we&#8217;d reserved.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>As they say, it&#8217;s a helluva way to run a railroad, only it&#8217;s <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>your<\/em><\/span> tax dollars they&#8217;re pissing away.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Now, in a world seemingly gone crazy in the three weeks we&#8217;ve been gone, and an <a href=\"https:\/\/townhall.com\/tipsheet\/mattvespa\/2021\/08\/18\/abc-news-interview--biden-n2594383\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #0000ff;\"><em>increasingly insensate nitwit<\/em><\/span><\/a> at the helm of the ship of state, here&#8217;s a long-overdue edition of\u00a0<em>The Gouge<\/em>!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>First up, everything you need to know about the complete and utter&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" the following Biden boners which defy any and all sense, military or common: (1).\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/2021\/08\/why-did-the-united-states-abandon-bagram-airfield\/?utm_source=Sailthru&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=MJ_20210819&amp;utm_term=Jolt-Smart\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #0000ff;\"><em>Abandoning the only secure airbase in the country by literally turning off the power and leaving in the middle of the night without bothering to inform the new Afghan commander<\/em><\/span><\/a>\u00a0; (2). Pulling out the troops before the civilians; (3) Leaving billions of dollars of weaponry and equipment of every description in the hands of one of America&#8217;s most implacable foes; (4) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/biden-afghanistan-taliban-safe-passage-kabul-airport\" class=\"broken_link\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #0000ff;\"><em>Depending on this same enemy to grant U.S. citizens safe passage for evacuation<\/em><\/span><\/a>; and, (5). <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/news\/intel-agencies-warned-of-afghan-collapse-as-biden-publicly-downplayed-possibility\/?utm_source=email&amp;utm_medium=breaking&amp;utm_campaign=newstrack&amp;utm_term=24769002\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; text-decoration: underline;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/07\/02\/us\/politics\/biden-coronavirus.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"broken_link\">the holiday weekend where Biden announced America\u2019s \u201cindependence from the virus<\/a><\/span><\/em><\/span>.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0We would expect a much more contagious version of the virus to become the most common form quickly.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #333399;\">Biden said, \u201cWe need to wear masks to protect each other and to stop the rapid spread of this virus as we work to get more people vaccinated.\u201d<\/span> Those of us who are vaccinated are being asked to take additional action to protect people who will not take any action to protect themselves or us. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">This is akin to telling the public to drive less frequently because a segment of the population drives recklessly.<\/span> That approach might mitigate the consequences a bit, but it doesn\u2019t really address the root of the problem \u2014 and it limits the freedom of the responsible to indulge the irresponsible.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #333399;\">The administration, the CDC, the country, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>and<\/em><\/span> the world have a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>real problem<\/em><\/span>.<\/span> The people who are unvaccinated and thus most vulnerable to the virus are also among the folks who are least willing to wear masks to protect themselves \u2014 and least willing to obey public-health guidance in general. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">Because <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>one segment<\/em><\/span> of Americans <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>won\u2019t listen<\/em><\/span> to the administration and the CDC, the administration and CDC are asking <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>the rest of us<\/em><\/span> to make further changes to <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">our<\/span><\/em> behavior<\/span><\/strong><\/span><strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8230;<\/span><strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">White House chief of staff \u2014 and, some Republicans argue, the de facto prime minister \u2014 Ron Klain declared on Twitter that the administration is prioritizing a mask mandate instead of a vaccine mandate because, \u201canyone who starts vaccination today isn\u2019t fully protected from the virus for six weeks.\u201d <span style=\"color: #333399;\">(Whether he realizes it or not, he\u2019s <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>talking down<\/em><\/span> the benefits of the vaccines.<\/span> Yes, two shots are much better against the Delta variant,<\/span>\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;
