eight years of The Obamao is REALLY saying something!), two items from <em>NRO<\/em>\u00a0accurately depict this woeful excuse for a man&#8217;s extensive shortcomings.\u00a0 First, Dan McLaughlin addressed<\/em><\/span>.\u00a0 From his college athletic prowess to his class standing at Syracuse, his coal-mining experience to taking on the mythical Corn Pop at the Wilmington community pool, the circumstances of his first wife&#8217;s death to his push-up prowess, the man&#8217;s <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>entire public career<\/em><\/span> has been <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>one unremitting, mammoth misrepresentation<\/em><\/span>.\u00a0 As the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2021\/08\/18\/the-media-refuse-to-call-biden-a-liar-on-afghanistan-despite-the-evidence-unlike-what-they-did-with-trump\/\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">New York Post observed<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/a>:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>&#8220;<em>You won\u2019t find a more powerful example of the media\u2019s pro-Democratic tilt \u2014 and outright hostility toward former President Donald Trump \u2014 than their refusal this week to call out President Biden as a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">downright liar<\/span>, as they did with his predecessor, when it comes to his comments about his Afghanistan pullout.<\/em>&#8220;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>But now that his frequent falsehoods have been combined with an increasingly undeniable dotage, even those who helped place him in a station far above his abilities are recognizing it&#8217;s time for a change:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/4OmWkozn_iQ\" width=\"420\" height=\"235\" Secretary of State Antony Blinken \u201cpaused\u201d a special evacuation unit formed by his predecessor, even as the firestorm of reaction to the bungled Afghanistan withdrawal intensified.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>In June, Blinken signed off on the department\u2019s fiscal year 2022 budget justification\u00a0<a style=\"color: #ff6600;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.state.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/FY-2022-State_USAID-Congressional-Budget-Justification.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"broken_link\">request<\/a>\u00a0submitted to Congress that included a notation that, while $50.8 million was sought for the Crisis and Contingency Response (CCR) program, \u201cthe department has paused implementation pending a policy review.\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>When asked by The Epoch Times \u201cWhy was [CCR] paused, is that still State\u2019s intent, and is [CCR] being utilized now in the Kabul evacs,\u201d the department spokesman declined to respond.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>Instead, the spokesman repeated a statement previously provided to media inquiries, saying:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>\u201cIt is important to note that not only would the proposed [CCR] not have introduced any new capabilities to the department, it was never formally established. <span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">Some administrative steps were taken before its establishment was paused, but the day-to-day operations of the team have not changed.\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/span><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>\u201cEvery requirement the department delivered on last year, and, since the proposed establishment of the bureau, can be delivered on today in the same manner if appropriate to do so.\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>But interviews on Aug. 19 with former senior State Department officials indicate the CCR program had been up and functioning effectively for months when Blinken and his team took over operations following his Jan. 26 Senate confirmation.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>A former official pointed to the State Department\u2019s evacuation of U.S. citizens from Wuhan, China, at the outset of the pandemic caused by the\u00a0<a style=\"color: #008000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/giving-the-right-name-to-the-virus-causing-a-worldwide-pandemic-2_3277200.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CCP virus,<\/a>\u00a0which is also known as the novel coronavirus.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>\u201cThis was the group of brave Americans that rescued more than 800 people from Wuhan in February 2020, when we knew little about the virulence of the virus and danger of that mission,\u201d the former official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told The Epoch Times<\/strong><\/span>&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>All of which is part and parcel to why the <em>WSJ<\/em>&#8216;s Kim Strassel suggests we just sit back and watch as the&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<h1 class=\"wsj-article-headline\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/democrats-afghanistan-withdrawal-biden-pelosi-durbin-taliban-national-security-mainstream-media-11629376575?mod=MorningEditorialReport&amp;mod=djemMER_h\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600; text-decoration: underline;\">Democrats Run From Afghanistan<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/h1>\n<h3 class=\"sub-head\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #808000;\"><a style=\"color: #808000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/democrats-afghanistan-withdrawal-biden-pelosi-durbin-taliban-national-security-mainstream-media-11629376575?mod=MorningEditorialReport&amp;mod=djemMER_h\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Unlike Republicans last year, few are willing to challenge the president<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/5kh35u.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-96214\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygouge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/5kh35u.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"420\" height=\"236\" (max-width: 420px) 100vw, 420px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8220;<span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>Joe Biden\u00a0handed out plenty of blame for his Afghanistan mess Monday, though he <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>notably left out<\/em><\/span> a core group of enablers. <span style=\"color: #808000;\">The Democratic Party <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>owns<\/em><\/span> this American humiliation and is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>already worried<\/em><\/span> about the political fallout.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8230;<span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>The Democratic Party has some serious national-security voices, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>but few hold office<\/em><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #808000;\">The party has moved left, even as it has methodically run out the Blue Dogs, centrists and defense hawks who used to keep the radicals in check. <span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">Swing-state Democrats live in mortal fear of primary challenges, and most are unwilling to call out or oppose party leaders.<\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #808000;\">And so the party as a whole has mostly indulged Mr. Biden\u2019s misguided decisions, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>even those<\/em><\/span> (on energy, crime, the border) <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>that are having serious consequences for their home states<\/em><\/span>.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>A media that has <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>mollycoddled<\/em><\/span> Mr. Biden is now <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>belatedly questioning<\/em><\/span> his decision to ignore warnings from diplomats and generals. <span style=\"color: #808000;\">Expect <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>more<\/em><\/span> Democrats to join the criticism.<\/span> But it\u2019s a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>little late<\/em><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #808000;\">Elected leaders who get used to getting a pass grow arrogant and reckless.<\/span> Leaders, say, who <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>foolishly think<\/em><\/span> the Taliban will <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>also wink<\/em><\/span> at a president\u2019s mistakes.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #808000;\">The political cost of Democrats\u2019 indulgence of this president are yet to be seen, especially as the images from Afghanistan will likely get worse.<\/span> But the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>public mood<\/em><\/span> is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>already shifting<\/em><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #808000;\">A Politico\/Morning Consult Poll conducted Aug. 13-16\u00a0showed\u00a0support for military withdrawal in Afghanistan <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>plummeting 20 points<\/em><\/span> from April, to 49%.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>This could impair Democratic priorities in Congress. <span style=\"color: #808000;\">The Afghan collapse offers a vivid picture of the cost of U.S. disengagement and may make it harder for progressives to transfer more military spending to domestic priorities.<\/span> A weakened White House could have a harder time marching members into line behind its $3.5 trillion budget blowout.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #808000;\">As for next year\u2019s midterm elections, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>both parties<\/em><\/span> often make the mistake of confusing war-weariness with indifference.<\/span> Voters might gripe about \u201cforever\u201d conflicts, but they also <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>don\u2019t like losing<\/em><\/span> and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>want to feel safe<\/em><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #808000;\">National security and foreign policy have been overshadowed in recent elections, but Mr. Biden\u2019s Afghanistan train wreck <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>may change that<\/em><\/span>.<\/span> One question is whether Republicans will re-embrace their role as advocates for a muscular and engaged foreign policy, after Mr. Trump\u2019s more scattershot and populist approach.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #808000;\"><strong>Democrats have <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>certainly<\/em><\/span> given them the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>opening<\/em><\/span>.<\/strong><\/span>&#8220;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Only an opening as wide as Hillary&#8217;s hips!\u00a0 Which <em>may<\/em>&#8230;or may <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>NOT<\/em><\/span>&#8230;be effectively exploited by The Gang Who&#8217;ll NEVER Shoot Straight.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Turning back for a moment to the subject of 46*&#8217;s lies, as <em>FOX<\/em> reminds us, the&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<h1 class=\"headline\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/pentagon-admits-al-qaeda-has-a-presence-in-afghanistan-minutes-after-biden-says-they-are-gone\" class=\"broken_link\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #800000; text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #808000; text-decoration: underline;\">Pentagon admits al Qaeda has a \u2018presence\u2019 in Afghanistan minutes after Biden says they are \u2018gone\u2019<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/h1>\n<h3 class=\"headline\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #003300;\"><a style=\"color: #003300;\" from unrepresentative data.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>In the Massachusetts outbreak that set off government alarm bells, more than 300 vaccinated holiday-makers later tested positive. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">Were they <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>100%<\/em><\/span> or <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>1%<\/em> <\/span>of those who returned home with the virus?<\/span> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>No idea<\/em><\/span>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #333399;\">In Chicago, 127 of 203 cases associated with the Lollapalooza music festival were fully vaccinated people.<\/span> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Same question<\/em><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">Are they the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>tip<\/em><\/span> or the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>whole iceberg<\/em><\/span>?<\/span> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>No clue<\/em><\/span>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #333399;\">With more young Covid victims landing in hospitals, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>is this because Delta is<\/em> <em>more virulent<\/em><\/span> or <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>because there\u2019s a lot more Delta than we know<\/em><\/span>?<\/span> Again, <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">your government doesn\u2019t have the foggiest<\/span><\/em>.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>Now three more vaccinated U.S. senators have come down with Covid this week.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>This chosen myopia about unseen spread has proved costly but in ways that hint at its political utility. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">In January 2020, we could tell ourselves Covid wasn\u2019t here because we hadn\u2019t detected any cases.<\/span> Later, when the pandemic was in full swing, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>overplaying the death risk and underplaying natural immunity helped to rally support for lockdowns, masking and vaccine rollout compliance<\/em><\/span>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #333399;\">Still, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>why would<\/em><\/span> scientists like Anthony Fauci and CDC leaders <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>be satisfied with inadequate data<\/em><\/span>?<\/span> One <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>reasonable presumption<\/em><\/span> is that <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>people don\u2019t ask questions they don\u2019t want the answers to<\/em><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">From the start, our public-health experts were realistic, not to say fatalistic, about the virus.<\/span> The CDC on its webpage <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>for months<\/em><\/span> advised that <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>every American<\/em><\/span> should expect to be infected eventually. <span style=\"color: #333399;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>This advice disappeared only as political messaging became paramount<\/em><\/span>.<\/span> Accentuating how much viral spread <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>remained unobserved and unmeasured<\/em><\/span> apparently <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">did not fit the agenda<\/span><\/em>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #333399;\">Delta has made such motivated myopia no longer sustainable.<\/span> The Covid-causing virus is a single-strand RNA virus\u2014i.e., <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>prone to frequent mutation<\/em><\/span>, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>like the flu<\/em><\/span>, which requires a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>new<\/em><\/span> vaccine <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>every year<\/em><\/span>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8230;<span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #333399;\">The public is being hit with <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">absurdly<\/span><\/em> late-to-the-news headlines saying <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Covid won\u2019t be going away<\/em><\/span>.<\/span> Its favorite media-approved epidemiologists now warn that everyone must get it sooner or later. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">Harvard\u2019s Michael Mina breaks the news that not the worst thing right now is vaccinated people getting asymptomatic Delta infections\u2014a \u201cbooster\u201d shot against future variants likely to be as robust as any the government will be handing out.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>And more absurd than ever is social-media <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>censorship of experts who say anything slightly complicated about masks or vaccine hesitancy<\/em><\/span>, as if <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>their discordant thoughts must still be suppressed in the name of eliminating Covid forever<\/em><\/span>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #333399;\">This propaganda is now detrimental to the real goal.<\/span> The coming surprise for Americans is that hybrid immunity, or vaccination plus inevitable exposure to an evolving virus, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>is<\/em><\/span> our new way out. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">As much as it was right to try to soften this adjustment, look at Japan today, with Tokyo hospitals near\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #0000ff;\"><em><a class=\"icon none broken_link\" style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2021-08-20\/japan-s-virus-cases-hit-a-record-as-hospitals-are-overwhelmed?cmpid=BBD082021_CORONAVIRUS&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=newsletter&amp;utm_term=210820&amp;utm_campaign=coronavirus&amp;sref=pmsMZCTQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">collapse under the weight of a Delta outbreak<\/a><\/em><\/span><em>.<\/em>\u00a0<\/span>Look at New Zealand, an <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>entire nation<\/em><\/span> locked down over what was initially <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>a single Delta case<\/em><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">These countries have yet to find a way to make peace with the virus and allow natural immunity to play its role in domesticating a new and unwelcome guest that won\u2019t be going away.<\/span> China will be the ultimate case study: facing Delta with a billion-plus people who are immunologically naive or reliant on inferior vaccines.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #333399;\">If you think nongovernment scientists were immune to the motivated myopia about unseen spread, read a Washington Post op-ed from just last week by two Boston University epidemiologists.<\/span> They engage in otherwise interesting herd immunity math based on the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>garbage-in, garbage-out assumption<\/em><\/span> that <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>only 35 million Americans<\/em><\/span> (the official number) have so far been infected.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #333399;\">Even the CDC has long since emerged from its fog.<\/span> Its official \u201ctracker\u201d may still emphasize such \u201creported\u201d cases, but the agency quietly estimates that <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>120 million Americans had been infected by May 1<\/em><\/span> in the unseen, unmeasured pandemic that Americans have actually been facing.<\/strong><\/span>&#8220;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Here&#8217;s an encore shot of the juice: this isn&#8217;t a &#8220;pandemic&#8221;, it&#8217;s a &#8220;scamdemic&#8221;, the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>only difference between this and earlier flu outbreaks being the man in the White House<\/em><\/span> when it hit our shores.\u00a0 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Everything else<\/em><\/span> has been <span style=\"text-decoration:
