caring for them is giving these precious babies up to foster care.\u00a0 Problem is, the great aunt and her husband both work full-time in a hair salon they own, and though they frankly don&#8217;t have the money necessary to care for Matthew and Mya at the moment, they&#8217;re committed to raising them until their birth mother&#8217;s on her feet again, a very lengthy style=\"color: #333399;\"><em><strong>\u201cOne way they have been keeping you scared is by vastly inflating the number of deaths that are actually attributed to the style=\"color: #333399;\">Still, countries across the globe are quietly lowering the number of deaths caused by Covid.<\/span> Take Italy, for example. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">A couple of weeks ago, Italy\u2019s National Institute of Health (ISS) made a shocking revelation.<\/span> They admitted their country\u2019s official number of Covid-19 deaths had been <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">greatly miscalculated.<\/span> <span style=\"color: #333399;\">And they revised the numbers to reflect that <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">97%<\/span> of reported \u2018Covid deaths\u2019 were probably <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">not due to Covid after all<\/span>.<\/span> It turns out that of the 130,000 deaths that were registered as official Covid fatalities, only <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">3,800<\/span> were <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">directly attributed<\/span> to the virus. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">The others died\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">with<\/span>\u00a0Covid, but <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">not\u00a0from<\/span>\u00a0Covid.<\/span> It\u2019s a distinction our government hierarchy refuses to accept<\/em>.\u201d<\/span> \u2014\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em><a href=\"https:\/\/marketing.alsearsmd.com\/acton\/fs\/blocks\/showLandingPage\/a\/28028\/p\/p-0632\/t\/page\/fm\/0?utm_term=Click%20here.&amp;utm_campaign=Your%20Sunday%20Review%20From%20Dr.%20Sears&amp;utm_content=email&amp;utm_source=Act-On+Software&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;cm_mmc=Act-On%20Software-_-email-_-Your%20Sunday%20Review%20From%20Dr.%20Sears-_-Click%20here.&amp;sid=TV2:ipuDjzrnQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dr. Al Sears<\/a><\/em><\/span><span style=\"color: #800080;\">, a doctor of medicine based in Florida.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>Think about it. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">Italy\u2019s National Institute of Health revises down the official number of COVID deaths by 97 percent.<\/span> That is a significant fact.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>But I would bet a significant amount of money that you have heard not a whisper of it.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>A toxic combination of \u201cpolitical correctness,\u201d Big Tech censorship, and crony capitalist special pleading has effectively twisted the public dialog about COVID in a fashion that heightens hysteria and public fear.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>Government officials want to intimidate you into ceding your freedom and autonomy.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8230;<\/span><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>Early in the pandemic, I read a fascinating argument advanced by two doctors in California, drawing attention to the slippery statistics that over-stated deaths from the pandemic.<span style=\"color: #333399;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/span><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #333399;\">They argued that anyone who died after testing positive for COVID-19 was added to the COVID tally, quite apart from whether COVID was reasonably implicated as the cause.<\/span> Thus, a COVID-positive pedestrian run-over by a bus would be counted as a COVID-19 victim.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #333399;\">That sort of nonsense underscores the importance of genuine freedom of speech.<\/span> It is more difficult for the authorities to frighten the public into ceding their freedom. <span style=\"color: #333399;\">The hope for informed civic discourse depends on circumventing political controls on thought.<\/span><\/strong><\/span>&#8220;<\/p>\n<p><strong>In a related item courtesy of <em>Townhall.com<\/em>, Dennis Prager explains&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<h1 class=\"headline\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><a dir=\"ltr\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8220;<span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>Among the many unbridgeable divides between Americans is a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>completely<\/em><\/span> antithetical view of mask wearing. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">On one side are those who wear masks almost everywhere outside their homes <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>and<\/em><\/span> who <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>demand that others do so<\/em><\/span>, including young children in class and on outdoor playgrounds, and 2-year-olds on airplanes.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>&#8220;On the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>other<\/em><\/span> side are those who <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>only wear a mask where they are punished for not doing so<\/em><\/span> (most obviously, airplanes). <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">They regard masks as <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">essentially pacifiers for adults<\/span><\/em>.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>Generally speaking, these two groups have disdain for each other.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Why the pro-mask half of America holds the anti-mask half in contempt needs little explanation.<\/span> They believe anti-mask Americans are putting others in grave danger. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Pro-maskers believe that even children who do not wear masks put their own lives and the lives of other children and teachers at risk.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>Consequently, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>pro-mask<\/em><\/span> Americans regard those who do not wear masks, let alone those who actively oppose mask-wearing, as <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>selfish, anti-science potential killers<\/em><\/span>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">What may be less obvious is why anti-maskers hold pro-maskers in equal contempt.<\/span> So, this needs explaining in greater detail. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">After all, anti-maskers don&#8217;t believe that maskers are putting people in hospitals.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>First, anti-maskers regard the charges made against them by pro-maskers as <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>baseless<\/em><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Therefore, as odd as it sounds, anti-maskers have contempt for the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>pro-maskers&#8217; contempt<\/em><\/span>.<\/span> To wrongly charge people with causing mass death is, to understate the case, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>immoral<\/em><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">And if this charge is demonstrably wrong, the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>people who level it<\/em><\/span> are the ones who are anti-science.<\/span><i class=\"fa fa-arrow-circle-right\"><\/i><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>Since <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>each side regards the other<\/em><\/span> as anti-science, what <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>is<\/em><\/span> the science?\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Nearly all public health authorities<\/em><\/span> claim that masks are <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>absolutely necessary<\/em><\/span> to save lives.<\/span> But they have <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>virtually no science<\/em><\/span> to back up the claim.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>There <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>is<\/em><\/span>, however, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>abundant scientific evidence<\/em><\/span> that masks are <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>worthless<\/em><\/span> vis-a-vis viruses <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>and<\/em><\/span> do great harm to society.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>Here is a fraction of the examples I could give<\/strong><\/span>&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rand Paul offered this advice for anyone confronted by a mask Karen like those in the video above:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Here&#8217;s the juice: Mask hysteria is just another example of life imitating art&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/3iV8X8ubGCc\" width=\"420\" height=\"235\" to political science, <em>AEI<\/em>&#8216;s M. Anthony Mills\u00a0wonders&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<h1 class=\"post-title\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aei.org\/articles\/is-this-still-an-emergency\/?mkt_tok=NDc1LVBCUS05NzEAAAGCOir2atCGhcJbQ4670rjrGYDEs0BvP7oiHOZBg7C_NRGx7DYnoZmG6UX7km29SREUi4r8qiZCfp-rZgCcCpGTDycVbvSm8NFYDlSMvI7ehHM\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.statnews.com\/2021\/12\/27\/forecasting-the-omicron-winter-experts-envision-various-scenarios-from-bad-to-worse\/\">news articles<\/a><\/span><\/em><\/span>\u00a0in\u00a0late December\u00a0described the perilous and demoralizing feeling that the country was returning to the pandemic moment of early 2020.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Yet much has changed in two years. <span style=\"color: #008000;\">Besides the fact that Omicron is milder, we <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>now have<\/em><\/span> vaccines, antivirals, and a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>much<\/em><\/span> better understanding of the disease and how to treat it.<\/span> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Logistical<\/em><\/span>, rather <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>epidemiological<\/em><\/span>, problems \u2014 such as the shortage of health care workers, the distribution of new medical treatments, and inadequate testing capacity \u2014 increasingly take center stage in our policy debates.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">But the change goes much deeper than this.<\/span> The political form of the crisis itself is now <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>fundamentally different<\/em><\/span>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Back in March 2020 \u2014 when the country finally\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #0000ff;\"><em><a style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wired.com\/story\/an-oral-history-of-the-day-everything-changed-coronavirus\/\">snapped to attention<\/a><\/em><\/span>\u00a0\u2014 the rationale for shutting down national life was <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>not<\/em><\/span> that everyone faced the same degree of risk.<\/span> Rather, it was that the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>only effective way to neutralize the threat<\/em><\/span> was for all of us to work together. <span style=\"color: #008000;\">Those who <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>could<\/em><\/span> stay home <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>should<\/em><\/span>, for the sake of those who <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>couldn\u2019t<\/em><\/span> \u2014 to \u201cflatten the curve\u201d and relieve our health care system.<\/span> The rationale for pandemic policies was altruistic, though paradoxically so: We had to withdraw from our <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>common life<\/em><\/span> to protect the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>common good<\/em><\/span>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">What the pandemic gave rise to, then, was not just extraordinary policies \u2014 such as school closures and stay-at-home orders \u2014 but an extraordinary form of politics.<\/span> A community facing a crisis of such magnitude becomes unified. <span style=\"color: #008000;\">Analogies with World War II\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #0000ff;\"><em><a style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dw.com\/en\/world-war-ii-and-coronavirus-economics-the-perils-of-comparison\/a-53214554\">were<\/a>\u00a0<a style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/world\/2020\/05\/11\/shadow-world-war-ii-hangs-over-coronavirus-age\/\" class=\"broken_link\">commonplace<\/a><\/em><\/span>: We are facing a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>once-in-a-century global threat<\/em><\/span> that requires all of us to make personal sacrifices for the greater good, much as during the 1940s Americans accepted rationing and planted victory gardens and sent their sons to fight and die overseas for the sake of defeating the Axis powers.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>It is easy to forget now how real that unity was in the pandemic\u2019s early phase. <span style=\"color: #008000;\">The doubts about restrictions that are <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>now so pervasive<\/em><\/span> were the province of a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>small minority<\/em><\/span> (<em>A province, we&#8217;re proud to say, in which we resided.<\/em>).<\/span> Most elected leaders \u2014 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>including President Trump himself<\/em><\/span> \u2014 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>ignored<\/em><\/span> the skeptics and\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #0000ff;\"><em><a style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/trumpwhitehouse.archives.gov\/articles\/15-days-slow-spread\/\">heeded the advice of the experts<\/a><\/em><\/span>, who then urged lockdown policies. <span style=\"color: #008000;\">And the large majority of our fellow citizens went along with them.<\/span> Indeed,\u00a0<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;
