It’s Monday, November 2nd, 2015…but before we begin, two quick observations on recent developments within the Republican Party.

Exhibit “A”: as James Taranto noted of the recent CNBC debacle…

“After it was over, Reince Priebus, chairman of the Republican National Committee, tweeted: “CNBC should be ashamed of how this debate was handled.” Then another tweet: “I will fight to ensure future debates allow for a more robust exchange.” But Priebus also took criticism for enlisting the network as a sponsor in the first place. Our favorite was a tweet from Cindy Cooper: “Dude. I’m a housewife in Arizona and saw this coming. Come on.

“Come on” is right.  No, Reince, you

Reince_Priebus_GOP_Chair_Stupid_600

…should be ashamed.  As The Daily Gouge noted at the time, our inquiring mind assumed allowing George Snuffleupagas, as partisan a Progressive hack as has ever wasted our planet’s oxygen, the opportunity to introduce the Dims’ manufactured war-on-women into the 2012 election cycle would have alerted Priebus to the obvious opportunities for mayhem inherent with Progressive MSM personalities “moderating” Republican primary debates.

But you know what…

charlie-brown-award

…”assume” inevitably means…particularly when the presumption is predicated upon acts of political savvy or plain-old common sense on behalf of anyone in the GOP, particularly its national leadership.

Exhibit “B”:

RAM800Fclr-102915-dutch-IBD

Here’s the juice: Republicans enjoyed unfettered control of the government for 5 of Dubya’s 8 years; still, federal spending skyrocketed.  After 2 years during which an out-of-control Obamao made Bush II look like a fiscal Conservative, voters handed the GOP the House, followed 2 years later by the Senate, for the express purpose of putting the brakes on Progressive policies and pronouncements.

So John Boehner, whose passing some on the Right still inexplicably mourn, and Kentucky’s village idiot respond by formulating a two-year budget deal which not only gives the sworn-enemy of everything the Founding Fathers held dear…

everything he wants, but eliminates the spending caps many in the GOP risked their political careers to gain.

So you tell us: with friends like these

mcconnel_boehner_reince_priebus_ap_328

who needs Liberals?!?  We know one thing: the Party of Priebus deserves neither our money nor our vote.  And while we’d vote for almost anyone running against Hillary, we certainly won’t be opening our checkbook.

Now, here’s The Gouge!

Since we’re on the subject of The Gang Who Still Can’t Shoot Straight, here’s a headline which causes us to reconsider supporting a candidate we’d finally begun to find tolerable:

Marco Rubio’s New Billionaire Backer Top Funder for Open Borders

Marco-Rubio-Profile-AP-with-Paul-Singer-CC-SA-640x480

“Hedge-fund billionaire Paul Singer’s decision to throw his financial weight behind the donor-class 2016 favorite, Sen. Marco Rubio, has sparked fresh questions about Rubio’s coziness with the financial interests funding his career. Singer was a major financial force behind the Rubio-Obama amnesty and immigration expansion push in 2013.

As Politico reported at the time, Singer “quietly go[t] involved in the fight for immigration reform, making a six-figure donation… to the National Immigration Forum”— a George Soros-backed organization that lobbied for Rubio’s legislation to issue 33 million green cards to foreign nationals in the span of a single decade.

The announcement of Singer’s endorsement highlights an intra-party tension that has emerged with new strength since Rep. Paul Ryan’s inauguration as Speaker of the House. There is a growing chasm between the more than 9 in 10 GOP voters, who want to see future immigration rates cut, versus GOP donors that are desperately seeking to install leaders in the White House and Congress who will further expand the nation’s already record breaking immigration rates that are transforming the country’s economy and electorate…”

There is no question entitlements, even at their current levels, are already bankrupting the country.  So either Singer and Rubio don’t understand adding tens of millions of additional unskilled, uneducated, unacculturated immigrants, legal or otherwise, to the system can only accelerate its demise…or they don’t care.

In a related item, another brilliant display of political acumen from the GOP’s former front-runner:

Mitt: ‘Without Romneycare, I Don’t Think We Would Have Obamacare’

Mitt thanks Ted Kennedy and Jonathan Gruber for crafting Romneycare: any questions?!?

“…The success of Staples became an oft-mentioned business story that Romney told on the campaign trail as he ran for US Senate, Massachusetts governor, and twice for president. In 2012, Mr. Stemberg spoke at the Republican National Convention in Tampa, trumpeting his friend Romney’s contributions to his business dream.

Romney also credited Mr. Stemberg with persuading him to push for health care reform in Massachusetts when he was governor. Romney recalled that shortly after he was elected, Mr. Stemberg asked him why he ran for governor. Romney said he wanted to help people, and Mr. Stemberg replied that if he really wanted to help, he should give everyone access to health care, which Romney said he hadn’t really considered before.

“Without Tom pushing it, I don’t think we would have had Romneycare,” Romney said. “Without Romneycare, I don’t think we would have Obamacare. So without Tom, a lot of people wouldn’t have health insurance.”…”

Is this fool…

romney-face-2

…for real?!?  Think about it: The Obamao’s promises notwithstanding, nothing about the Unaffordable Care Act has functioned even remotely as advertised.  The exchanges are the biggest failure since Cash for Clunkers, there are still well-over 30,000,000 uninsured Americans (and heaven-only-knows how many uninsured illegals), Americans kept neither their plans nor their doctors, rates are going through the roof for lower-quality coverages and policies, deductibles and maximum out-of-pocket minimums are doubling and tripling…yet Mitt continues to sing the praises of the concept intended to drag America into socialized medicine.

Like we said, with Republicans like these, who needs Liberals?!?

Next up, as NRO‘s David French suggests…

The Spring Valley Arrest Video Isn’t Disturbing: Here’s Why

“…I have a different perspective. After watching and re-watching the incident, I keep coming to the same conclusion: This is what happens when a person resists a lawful order from a police officer to move. Unless the school is willing to have one student commandeer the classroom indefinitely, the officer has few options beyond physical force — and the use of physical force is rarely pretty to see. In this instance, the use of force was decisive, brief, and did not physically harm the student.

While I hardly claim to have grown up (or live) on the wrong side of the tracks, I’ve seen multiple police interventions in my 46 years on this planet — including in my own high school in the 1980s — and I’ve never seen the police be gentle when a person resists arrest. The use of physical force is never elegant, it’s always potentially dangerous, and it’s always easy to critique from a distance. Lawlessness typically leaves a police officer with options that simply don’t look good on camera.

As for the Vox critique of police officers in public schools – which writer German Lopez called “outsourcing discipline to the police” – let’s not forget that in this instance the school appealed to the officer only after a teacher and an administrator failed to get results…”

Frankly, we’re of the mind the young “lady” in question was in need of a good ass-kickin’…and got off with a punishment far lighter than her behavior warranted.  If her mother was of the same mind as Toya Graham…

….this problem likely never would have arisen in the first place.

Chris Rock said it best:

And the sooner Americans of every age, sex, religion and ealize it, the better!

Since we’re on the subject of the unjustifiable, as Ben Stein notes at The American Spectator

There’s No Defense for These Two

It’s been a terrible week.

“Now, for a few notes about the world we live in. Ever since I learned about Barack Obama’s tormented childhood, I waited for the wackiness to come out. Abandoned by his black father and his white mother. Coddled and loved by his white grandparents. Trying to be white for years, then figuring out that the percentages were with playing the race card.

That man, with all of that turmoil inside him, was never going to be a healer. He was angry. You cannot be abandoned by your father and mother without being angry unless you have come to find some God in your life, which Mr. Obama clearly has not. Plus, if he were at peace, he would not have married a woman as furiously angry at her country as he did.

…Next, Mrs. Clinton. After a very long day of testimony Thursday, a few things are clear. She speaks well and lies badly. (We find the former highly debatable.) Her explanation for why she simply paid no attention to security at the U.S. mission in Benghazi in 2012 was just comical…”

Almost 100 Homeland Security employees have been paid to stay home for over a year

check-out-pictures-of-federal-workers-living-it-up-in-las-vegas

The good things in government never change!

“A year after auditors documented tens of thousands of federal workers on paid leave for at least a month and longer stretches that exceed a year, close to 100 Department of Homeland Security employees still are being paid not to work for more than a year.

The large number persists even after the Obama administration urged agencies in June to curtail their reliance on what is known as administrative leave, the government’s go-to strategy for dealing with employees facing allegations of misconduct…”

The Marines’ Last Stand

fotos_interessantes_02

“Leave it to the Marines to make the US military’s last stand. It’s the last stand for the Marines, the last stand for reality, the last stand for the military to function as a cohesive war fighting organization and not a Santa Monica yoga class.

In America 180, everything is upside down. What kind of madcap lunatic asylum do we live in when the military has to ask for exemptions to keep women out of combat?

This is what happens when policy is being dictated by radicals whose idea of combat is elbowing for a place in line at the Bloomingdale’s’ lunch counter. This is what happens when the military’s leaders are gutless moral cowards.

Thank God for the Marines. They want an exemption to prevent women from serving in the combat arms branches of the Marine Corps. The Navy surrendered its masculinity in 1991 after the Tailhook Affair and has evolved into the Love Boat with guns and fast planes. The Air Force disappeared over the horizon sometime in the late 90’s. The Army is advertising their 37 year old Mommy Ranger and sucking down enough Kool Aid to clean out half the grocery stores and lemonade stands in America.

The Pentagon has become a modern day Jonestown.

But, the Marines won’t go for it. They won’t go for the ridiculous notion that women can cut it in the combat arms and special operations. Unlike the other services, the Marines seem to remember that war is hell and unforgiving and more violent than any civilian can even imagine. The Marines know that in war there is no substitute for victory.

The Marines know, but no one else does…”

Attention to brief:

It’s not just the last stand of the United States Marine Corps; as detailed in soooo many segments above, it’s America’s

French Mathematicians Blast UN’s ‘Costly & Pointless Crusade’ Against Global Warming

glacier-selfie

“Once upon an ice age much of the northern territory of this continent was buried under an icy glacier that carved out the Great Lakes. Unfortunately it all ‘retreated’ before Obama could pull out and play with his selfie stick…”

“…“You would probably have to go quite a long way back in human…history to find [such a] mad obsession,” according to a translated summary of the document released in September by the Paris-based Société de Calcul Mathématique SA.

The mathematicians harshly criticized a “crusade [that] has invaded every area of activity and everyone’s thinking,” noting that “the battle [against] CO2 has become a national priority. “How have we reached this point in a country that claims to be rational?” they ask, adding that mathematicians “do not believe in crusades. They look at facts, figures, comments and arguments.”

“There is not a single fact, figure…[or] observation that leads us to conclude the world’s climate is in any way ‘disturbed,” the paper states. It is variable, as it has always been. … Modern methods are far from being able to accurately measure the planet’s overall temperature even today, so measurements made 50 or 100 years ago are even less reliable.”

Noting that concentrations of carbon dioxide (CO2) have “always” varied, the French mathematicians also said that after processing the raw data on hurricanes themselves, they verified that “they are no more frequent now than they have been in the past.”…”
