“This is about distance, and detachment, and a kind of historic decoupling between the top and the bottom in the West that did not, in more moderate recent times, exist.
Recently I spoke with an acquaintance of Angela Merkel, the German chancellor, and the conversation quickly turned, as conversations about Ms. Merkel now always do, to her decisions on immigration. Last summer when Europe was engulfed with increasing waves of migrants and refugees from Muslim countries, Ms. Merkel, moving unilaterally, announced that Germany would take in an astounding 800,000. Naturally this was taken as an invitation, and more than a million came. The result has been widespread public furor over crime, cultural dissimilation and fears of terrorism. From such a sturdy, grounded character as Ms. Merkel the decision was puzzling—uncharacteristically romantic about people, how they live their lives, and history itself, which is more charnel house than settlement house.
Ms. Merkel’s acquaintance sighed and agreed. It’s one thing to be overwhelmed by an unexpected force, quite another to invite your invaders in! But, the acquaintance said, he believed the chancellor was operating in pursuit of ideals. As the daughter of a Lutheran minister, someone who grew up in East Germany, Ms. Merkel would have natural sympathy for those who feel marginalized and displaced. Moreover she is attempting to provide a kind of counter-statement, in the 21st century, to Germany’s great sin of the 20th. The historical stain of Nazism, the murder and abuse of the minority, will be followed by the moral triumph of open arms toward the dispossessed. That’s what’s driving it, said the acquaintance.
It was as good an explanation as I’d heard. But there was a fundamental problem with the decision that you can see rippling now throughout the West. Ms. Merkel had put the entire burden of a huge cultural change not on herself and those like her but on regular people who live closer to the edge, who do not have the resources to meet the burden, who have no particular protection or money or connections. Ms. Merkel, her cabinet and government, the media and cultural apparatus that lauded her decision were not in the least affected by it and likely never would be.
Nothing in their lives will get worse. The challenge of integrating different cultures, negotiating daily tensions, dealing with crime and extremism and fearfulness on the street—that was put on those with comparatively little, whom I’ve called the unprotected. They were left to struggle, not gradually and over the years but suddenly and in an air of ongoing crisis that shows no signs of ending—because nobody cares about them enough to stop it.
The powerful show no particular sign of worrying about any of this. When the working and middle class pushed back in shocked indignation, the people on top called them “xenophobic,” “narrow-minded,” “racist.” The detached, who made the decisions and bore none of the costs, got to be called “humanist,” “compassionate,” and “hero of human rights.”…”

And if Merkel’s faux-egalitarian ethos sounds at all familiar, there’s a reason:
“After a Justice Department investigation excoriated the Baltimore Police Departmentfor discriminatory practices and systemic failures, the city’s mayor says there is “a very long journey ahead.”
At a press conference Wednesday, Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake said the report — which described repeated and even routine racial discrimination, unconstitutional arrests and use of excessive force — was “challenging to hear.” “But let me be clear: I never sugarcoat our problems nor will I run away from our most pressing challenges,” she said. “I believe transparency is the only true foundation upon which we can rebuild community trust.”…”
It’s what the Dimocratic Party’s been all about since the days of FDR.
Thus a city government, state’s attorney’s office and police force…run almost exclusively by Blacks for years…is deemed guilty of racism against its own Black-majority population without anyone in authority objecting to a conviction without the benefit of trial or any real evidence. More importantly, two of the three individuals undeniably responsible remain in office, leaving your average Black Baltimoron to suffer the inevitable consequences of Loretta’s latest lynching.
As Heather MacDonald notes at NRO., this latest DOJ report is simply in keeping with one of The Obamao Administration’s central themes:
The DOJ’s Baltimore Police Report Contributes to a Hostile Environment for Law Enforcement
“In early May 2016, a 90-year-old woman in northwest Baltimore was severely beaten during a home invasion. Police found her barely conscious on the floor, unable to move or call for help. This was the second time in two months that she had been the victim of a burglary. She was hospitalized for three weeks following the beating and died in the hospital. Police concluded that the suspect in the May assault was familiar with the neighborhood.
On May 31, 2016, a 71-year-old woman in northwest Baltimore was raped and robbed in her home. The assailant took jewelry and cash from the victim’s purse, then stole her car and crashed it. A bystander helped the rapist out of the crashed car; the thug fled. These heinous crimes occurred as Baltimore was experiencing the bloodiest year in its history, measured on a per capita basis. Shootings, homicides, and robberies surged after the April 2015 riots triggered by the accidental death of drug dealer Freddie Gray following an arrest. Nearly two dozen children were killed in 2015. Baltimore’s homicide count matched that of New York City’s, a city 13 and a half times Baltimore’s size.
Unfortunately, such crime merits but a few passing references in the 163-page report on the Baltimore Police Department released yesterday by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ). The Justice Department accuses the Baltimore police of a pattern or practice of violating blacks’ civil rights. Justice’s methodology for reaching that conclusion is by now drearily familiar: Because blacks are stopped and arrested by the Baltimore police at a higher rate than their representation in the Baltimore population, the police are guilty of racial bias.
This use of a population benchmark to analyze police activity is preposterously misguided, given the large disparities in rates of criminal victimization and crime commission. In 2015, more than 90 percent of Balimore’s homicide victims were black, even though blacks are only 63 percent of the city’s population. Though the police department does not report the race of criminals, it is certain that at least 90 percent of homicide and shootings suspects in Baltimore are also black. To expect police activity to match population ratios when crime commission is not evenly spread throughout the population is either disingenuous or disqualifyingly ignorant…”
Or deliberately deceptive…and part of a larger plan. Which explains why, for the first time in party history, the Dimocratic candidate for President, Hillary…
Speaking of Progressive propaganda foisted upon an unsuspecting populace, remember Irene Martin, the USCIS Field Office Director who deliberately waylaid the investigation into the San Bernardino massacre?
“A U.S. immigration official accused in a federal report of hindering law enforcement agents seeking a suspect in the San Bernardino terror attack and then lying about it has been nominated for a prestigious award – for telling her employees to stay calm and fetching one who was eating lunch in his car.
FoxNews.com reported in June that Irene Martin, who heads the San Bernardino U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services office, had been nominated for the Department of Homeland Security “Award for Valor.” But the department refused to say what Martin had done to earn consideration for an award previously given to government employees who saved people from sinking ships and burning cars and confronted gun-wielding criminals.
The answer was only revealed through a Freedom of Information Act request. As the Dec. 2, 2015, attack unfolded a mile and a half away, Martin “warned [her] employees to be very careful and to be vigil (sic) about their surroundings,” according to the nominating petition…”
You’ll recall Martin purposefully prevented Homeland Security agents from seizing the individual who’d supplied guns to the Islamic terrorists in San Bernardino the day after attack; then not only lied about it to investigators…but was never disciplined, let alone fired!!!
NOW The Obamao Administration wants to give her an award!!!

Female Sailor Captured by Iran Awarded Bravery Medal for Pushing Beacon Button
After the embarrassing events that took place in January where ten U.S. Navy Sailors and two gunboats were taken captive by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard in the Persian Gulf, Navy officials have now decided to start distributing medals of bravery.
The only female sailor among the 10 who were detained has received the Navy Commendation Medal in recognition of her efforts to call for help. According to reports, she was awarded the prestigious and historic medal for activating an ’emergency position-indicating radio beacon’ used to signal distress at sea.
The Navy Commendation Medal, which was first awarded in1943, is presented for sustained acts of heroism or meritorious service.
Pushing a button: with Trump, Obama views it as unfitness for office…
…but when it comes to providing cover for an inexcusable act of military inefficiency, it’s deemed worthy…
…of praise! Not to mention grossly exaggerating the achievements of women in action.
Then there’s the latest exposure of the hypocrisy inherent in Progressivism’s self-serving propaganda:

A Sanders spokesman says the senator and his wife Jane also own a row house in Washington, D.C., and a home in Burlington, Vermont…”
Which makes Sanders just another limousine Liberal who has no problem taking what’s yours cuz he’s already got his!
