It’s Monday, October 2nd, 2017…but before we begin, we present two quotes worth pondering in The Daily Gouge version of Jack Handey’s…

First, the editorial board of the WSJ offers this observation on the unfortunate timing of Tom Price’s resignation, whether warranted or not:

Now Mr. Trump will have to find a replacement even as HHS faces crucial regulatory decisions on ObamaCare. Mr. Price knows the law and had invested nine months trying to figure out the bureaucratic traps. Mr. Trump in particular will need a nominee who already understands the waiver power that the executive branch has under the Affordable Care Act.

Perhaps he can coax former Oklahoma Senator and medical doctor Tom Coburn to take the job. But if Mr. Trump keeps treating his cabinet officers like “The Apprentice” cast, he might find that no one wants to work for him.

Then there’s a well-deserved warning from NRO in the wake of Illinois’ Republican governor Bruce Rauner signing legislation providing state-funding for abortions:

Conservatives ought to have learned by now those who are not with us on abortion are, in most cases, not with us at all, and promises of neutrality on the life question cannot be trusted. Rauner, we now learn, does have a social agenda, one that is obnoxious to many who took him at his word on the campaign trail.

Now, here’s The Gouge!

First up, in a headline we trust about as far as we can throw Hillary, Townhall.com‘s Matt Vespa quotes the…

10th Mountain Division To ‘Communism Will Win’ Graduate: While In Uniform, You Put Politics Aside

All of which means, in the politically-correct Army bequeathed us by the likes of William Casey and Martin Dempsey…

Meanwhile, Townhall.com later offered this update:

Now, Daily Caller is reporting that Rapone even went after Secretary of Defense James Mattis, calling him a “vile, evil f**k.” This was back in June. For a bit yesterday, Rapone’s Twitter account, punkproletarian, was protected. That’s no longer the case [WarningStrong language]:

In a tweet dated June 8, 2017, Rapone tweeted at a podcaster, stating: “Was so pumped for you to go in on Mattis on the latest ep. Definitely the most vile, evil fuck in the current administration.”

Not only that, but Rapone also attacked Vice President Mike Pence in a tweet from August: “Holy s*** what world do these people live in? “Mediocre and conservative?” Pence is a fucking medieval, cold-blooded killer.”

Such statements run the risk of violating Article 88 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice. (“Run the risk”?!?  They’re so far over the line as to require no further evidence to convict at his court martial!) According to Article 88, “Any commissioned officer who uses contemptuous words against the President, the Vice President, Congress, the Secretary of Defense, the Secretary of a military department, the Secretary of Transportation, or the Governor or legislature of any State, Territory, Commonwealth, or possession in which he is on duty or present shall be punished as a court-martial may direct.”

The maximum punishment under Article 88 is dismissal from the military, forfeiture of all pay and allowances and prison for a year(Along with reimbursing taxpayers the cost of his education.)

So, is there going to be a court martial

Seeing is believing; though we’d be willing to bet, even in Mad Dog Mattis’ Department of Defense, this gets swept under the same rug as LT David Nartker’s surrender of his boats and crews to the Iranians.

Frankly, had Rapone been in our squadron, he’d have first experienced a good old-fashioned blanket party…

…followed by an unfortunate fall:

His acts are not only indefensible, but contrary to the oath he took as an officer in the U.S. Army to support and defend the Constitution of the United States from all enemies, foreign and domestic.

Speaking of those having recently committed indefensible acts which were contrary to their oaths, writing at the WSJ, Kim Strassel details the true motivations of….

The Never-Trump Triumvirate

What do Rand Paul, Susan Collins and John McCain have in common? Very little.

“…At least the House Freedom Caucus scuttles GOP legislation based on shared principles. Sens. Ted Cruz and Mike Lee have also led revolts against bills, again based on shared criticisms. But what do the Arizona maverick, the Maine moderate and the Kentucky libertarian have in common? Very little.

Well, very little save motivations that go beyond policy. And that is the crucial point that is missing from the endless analyses of the McCain-Collins-Paul defections on health care. The media has treated the trio’s excuses for killing their party’s top priority as legit, despite the obvious holes in their objections over policy and process. What in fact binds the three is their crafting of identities based primarily on opposition to their party or Mr. Trump. This matters, because it bodes very ill for tax reform in the Senate. Overcoming policy objections is one thing. Overcoming egos is another.

Mr. McCain, who is gravely ill with brain cancer, has decided his final legacy will be a return to the contrarian “straight talk” persona of old, which wins him liberal media plaudits. The Arizonan has never gotten over losing the presidency, and it clearly irks him that Mr. Trump succeeded where he failed. His personal disdain for the president is obvious, and his implausible excuses for opposing the Graham-Cassidy health-care reform are proof that this is personal.

Ms. Collins is reportedly days away from deciding whether she’ll ditch the Senate gig and run for governor. That potential campaign has guided her every move for at least a year now—perhaps her entire career—and was clearly among her reasons last summer to abandon her party’s nominee and publicly excoriate Mr. Trump. It is a basic precept in Washington that Sen. Collins votes in whatever way best serves Sen. Collins. Right now that means being Never Trump.

Mr. Paul worked hard during his first Senate campaign to reassure Kentuckians that he was not his father, and it turns out that’s very true. Because even Ron Paul was to be found with his party’s House majority on issues that truly mattered, and largely saved his defections for the lost causes that produced 434-1 votes. Sen. Paul’s standards for “conservative” policy are as varying as the wind, and lately they blow toward whatever position can earn him the title of purest man in Washington…”

Need we add…

…along with Lisa Murkowski!

Next up, in our Unbearable Lightness of Liberalism segment, just when we’d thought we’d heard it all, Townhall.com‘s Timothy Meads informs us we weren’t even close:

College Professor: Believing in Hard Work is White Ideology

Anything for attention.

“…Angela Putman conducted a study to critique and examine “ideologies within college students’ discourse that are foundational to whiteness.” Her resulting conclusion published on Thursday was that “meritocracy”, or the belief that people should rise based on the fruits of their own labor, is a “white ideology.” In her mind, this “white ideology” is unfortunately widely accepted in academia.

But, Professor Putman argues that professors can change this “ideology” by teaching students “how racism and whiteness function in various contexts, the powerful influence of systems and institutions, and the pervasiveness of whiteness ideologies within the United States.”

Putman believes that it is somehow a bad thing to teach students personal responsibility. Emphasizing a collectivist mindset, Putman puts forth the idea that Americans are falsely “socialized to believe that we got to where we are…because of our own individual efforts.”

This “ideology” she says, perpetuates whiteness and racism throughout society. Once students learn more about “white ideology,” they will hopefully “resist perpetuating and reifying whiteness through their own discourse and interactions,” and challenge systemic “manifestations of racism and whiteness.”

Until students learn the hidden dangers of believing in the value of hard-work and a positive attitude, “whiteness ideologies may be reproduced through a general acceptance and unchallenging of norms, as well as through everyday discourse from a wide variety of racial positionalities.”

Putman did not say how she would be grading students in the future. According to her theory, grading based on their merits and test scores would be a perpetuation of white ideological privilege.

One can only assume, whatever grading system this educated idiot applies, it will recognize the esoteric yet inescapable impact of white privilege and patriarchy upon the emotional and mental development of ethnics.

Yeah,…

In a related item from Zero Hedge via Tom Bakke, it’s time we all realized, at least when it comes to White people…

Everything is Racist, And You’re a Terrible Person

Everything you do and think is racist, you probably just don’t realize it because you’re so super privileged.

You can’t just sit back and hide in your white supremacist neighborhoods anymore. There’s no more abstaining from taking a side on this one. The sins of your ancestors have caught up to you! (Or at least the sins of the ancestors of people who look like you, considering most white Americans are descended from post-Civil War immigrants.)

You may think that standing for the national anthem is a normal thing to do. You may have even gone on standing for the national anthem, ignoring the rest of the controversy surrounding the NFL. But it turns out that behaving in a standard traditional fashion is racist.

Yep, it’s the old, “you’re either with us or against us,” philosophy. You cannot sit out this manufactured controversy. The Huffington Post says that when you stand, you stand for white supremacy. For white people, the anthem represents freedom. (You know,…like the Civil War and Civil Rights Act never happened!) White Americans are full citizens, and black Americans–especially extremely successful millionaire athletes–are second class citizens.

You probably just didn’t know that because your life has been lived in a bubble of white privilege. It’s okay, you didn’t know any better. But you’re still a terrible person. You should give your house away to a black family, since “You’re bound to make that money in some other white privileged way.”

And here’s another way we know that President Trump is racist. His wife actually sent 10 Dr. Seuss books to a school in Massachusetts. Can you believe it? That’s like, ten times the racism!

Luckily, the librarian at the school knew that the books were racist, and rejected them. She wrote Mrs. Trump a letter to explain her white supremacist folly:

Another fact that many people are unaware of is that Dr. Seuss’s illustrations are steeped in racist propaganda, caricatures, and harmful stereotypes. Open one of his books (If I Ran a Zoo or And to Think That I Saw It On Mulberry Street, for example), and you’ll see the racist mockery in his art.

Grace Hwang Lynch’s School Library Journal article, “Is the Cat in the Hat Racist? Read Across America Shifts Away from Dr. Seuss and Toward Diverse Books,” reports on Katie Ishizuka’s work analyzing the minstrel characteristics and trope nature of Seuss’s characters. Scholar Philip Nel’s new book, Was the Cat in the Hat Black? The Hidden Racism of Children’s Literature, and the Need for Diverse Books, further explores and shines a spotlight on the systemic racism and oppression in education and literature.

Thought those were just innocent cartoon images? Think again!

I mean it’s so obvious that Dr. Seuss was a racist. He clearly thought star-bellied Sneetches were better than plain-bellied Sneetches. They were so privileged walking around with those stars on their bellies. And then, when the plain-bellied Sneetches started acting all star-bellied, the privileged star-bellied Sneetches culturally appropriated the plain-bellied Sneetches’ style!

The point of the story certainly wasn’t that a third party came into town and exploited the natural differences of the Sneetches for personal profit! Dr. Seuss couldn’t have been calling attention to the fact that people will seek to exploit divisions in society for their own motives.

So nice try attempting to sit this one out! Unless you swear fealty to demolishing white privilege, then you are racist. And don’t try to end any race problems in your own way! It has to be through government intervention, and acquiescence to the demands of Black Lives Matter. If you do nothing, you are racist.

Based on The Left’s revisionist view of historical norms, one must believe…

Saturday Night Live to be racist!

But as this next item, also penned by Townhall.com‘s Matt Vespa relates, when it comes to oppression, there’s more than one shade of Black:

Ivy League Black Students Group: There Are Too Many African And Caribbean Students Here

So much for Black solidarity!

Identity politics is a nasty thing. Everyone who isn’t a progressive knows this. At Cornell University, that slice of politics is rearing its ugly head, with the school’s black students group demanding that more African American students be enrolled. They’re concerned that there are too many Caribbean and African students…they go on listing their demands that they think will solve the university’s supposed problems in this area of racial injustice (via Daily Caller):

Cornell University’s Black Students United demanded the university start recruiting more black American students because the campus has too many African and Caribbean students Wednesday.

Black Students United, a group for students identifying with the African diaspora, handed the university president a list of twelve demands, with one of them dealing with the disproportionate representation of African students compared to black students on the campus.

Black Students United takes issue with the fact that there are more African and Caribbean students on campus when compared to black students. The group defines black students as those who come from black families that have lived in America for two or more generations. While the group said it doesn’t mind the university trying to recruit African students (mighty white of them!), they want the college to pay more attention to black students whose families have been affected by years of white supremacy.

You know…unlike Kenya, Democratic Republic of Congo, South Africa, Haiti, Jamaica, etc., etc., etc.

In all seriousness…

Besides, if Julian Bond had it right…

…home-grown American Blacks should have it all over their African and Caribbean cousins.  At the risk of offending the “learned” Professor Putnam and her pet theory of White hierarchy, perhaps they just don’t try as hard?!?

Fact is, as John Hawkins so accurately observes at Townhall.com:

There Are No Oppressed People in America

“There are American women in my Twitter feed who think they are more oppressed than women in Saudi Arabia. I. Can’t. Even.” — John Podhoretz

Never before have so many claimed to be so oppressed and mistreated over so little as Americans in 2017.

We have men who have gotten extraordinarily wealthy and famous playing a game who protest the flag of the nation that put them not just in America’s wealthiest 1%, not just in the global 1%, but in the historical 1% of everyone who has ever lived.

We have pampered college students at expensive private schools having hissy fits because someone they disagree with is allowed to speak at an event on campus they’re not even required to attend.

We’re told Hispanic Americans are oppressed because foreign Latinos who came to this country illegally when they knew the penalty was deportation are not universally being allowed to get away with their crime.

We have feminists who think they’re oppressed because some guy “mansplained” something to them by finally giving his opinion after listening to them blather on for 10 minutes.

We have black Americans who live in bad neighborhoods, think the cops target them because of their race, can’t find a job and are mired in poverty who keep voting for exactly the same government officials to be in charge of their neighborhood. If they’re “oppressed,” they’re active participants in their own oppression.

Republicans were not oppressed because Obama was in office. Democrats are not oppressed because Donald Trump is in office. White supremacists aren’t oppressed because of Black Lives Matter. Black Americans aren’t oppressed because of made-up claims that the police are gunning for them that aren’t supported by the data or because someone, somewhere said the n-word. Women aren’t oppressed because of a non-existent patriarchy. Men aren’t oppressed because of angry feminists. Asians aren’t oppressed. Jews aren’t oppressed. Muslims aren’t oppressed. Conservatives aren’t oppressed. Liberals aren’t oppressed.

The only Americans that are actually discriminated against by the government these days are white Americans who are victimized by Affirmative Action. Is that un-American and wrong? Absolutely, but even the relatively small number of people victimized by that policy are getting other jobs and going to other colleges if they’re hustling.  So, they’re not oppressed. This country has problems, issues and things to work on, but this is as good as it gets in the real world right now. That’s why few people leave this country and millions try to get in every year.

Do you realize the stunning level of self-absorption and self-deception that it takes to believe you’re oppressed in America? Real oppression is women in Saudi Arabia getting to drive for the first time in 2017. Oppression is worrying that you may be jailed in China for speaking out against the government. Oppression is eating your dog in North Korea because the dictator running the country with an iron fist is just fine with you starving to death. Oppression is Christians across the Middle East being systematically murdered because of their religion while their Muslim rulers shrug their shoulders.

It’s also very interesting to take a look at the “leaders” who say you’re oppressed. For the most part, they are the least oppressed people on earth. Typically, they’re politicians, actors, actresses, rock stars or media personalities with lots of money and influence. The more they tell people that the problems in their life aren’t their fault, the more attention, retweets and money they get. Funny how that works.

You think black Americans are oppressed? Compared to what? America a hundred years ago? How about women? How about the poor? Many poor Americans have access to technological and medical advances the richest Americans a hundred years ago would have paid vast fortunes to acquire had it been possible. There are no “Irish Need Not Apply” signs anymore. Asians aren’t being worked to death on the railroads. Little kids aren’t being forced to drop out of school and head to the coal mines. Seventy one percent of the world’s population lives on less than $10 a day and you want to tell me how bad anyone in America has it? Please. Even the homeless panhandlers make more than that here.

There are no oppressed Americans, but there are an awful lot of Americans who are spoiled, bored, need attention or are just looking for any excuse for messing up their own lives. FORTUNATELY, you don’t have the opportunity to be Rosa Parks, MLK or Susan B. Anthony in America because all those people have already done the heavy lifting for you. If you’re an American who wants to fight oppression, you may as well join the military and wait for the next fight against a dictator or terrorist organization overseas because there are no oppressed Americans. However, there are an awful lot of sad, weak people who claim the tiny molehills in front of them are mountains so they can feel better about themselves.

OR to score cheap political points which enables them to maintain power, thus ensuring the only real form of oppression present in America, Progressive policies, are perpetuated.

Consider this next cartoon, and note how it fails to mention…

Democrats were almost exclusively responsible for slavery, Jim Crow, lynchings, the KKK…

…Segregation, Redlining, poor schools, gang culture and the subprime mortgage scams, and completely omits the impact Welfare, Aid for Dependent Children and other Liberal entitlements have had on the Black family.  If ignorance is bliss, most if not all Progressives are living in Nirvana.

Which brings us, appropriately enough, to The Lighter Side

Finally, in a cross between the Muslim Minute and News of the Bizarre, Reuter’s reports how…

Egypt “hunting down” gays, conducting forced anal exams

Six Egyptian men arrested for “promoting sexual deviancy” and “debauchery” on social media will be subjected to anal examinations ahead of their Oct. 1 trial, Amnesty International said on Saturday…”

Reports four of the men…

…have requested a second opinion remain unconfirmed.
