It’s Wednesday, June 10th, 2015…but before we begin, like so many of The Dear Misleader’s previous patent prevarications, his claim to have “ended” the U.S. effort in Iraq leads us to conclude he’s either grossly mistaken…

U.S. Prepares Plan to Send Hundreds More Trainers to Iraq

…or, as is far more likely, he’s once again lying through his teeth; that’s “trainers”…as in “troops”!

Now, here’s The Gouge!

First up, as the Washington Examiner‘s Noemie Emery so eloquently observes,…

Temperament Counts

r620-14504df9fbb66fd58556292ace5de1ae

“President Obama, wrote the Washington Post’s Greg Jaffe in a recent story about the president’s view of his country, articulates “his vision of a nation that can acknowledge and, learn from, its mistakes.” Would that this vision applied to himself.

Not only does Obama never learn from mistakes, he doesn’t think that he makes them, and he denies that they even exist. Any regrets for the way he passed healthcare? Not that you’d notice. Any regrets about leaving Iraq? Nope — he still thinks he “ended two wars,” which the other side keeps on fighting.

The conventional view of what has gone wrong — that Obama lacked experience, and that first-term senators should be viewed with suspicion — is undercut by the fact that he has had six years of experience, and failed to learn from it. At home and abroad, Obama makes mistakes over and over, with the same result, and takes nothing from them. He disses his friends, placates aggressors and seems surprised that aggressors advance and whole regions catch fire.

bg060915dAPC20150609014550

He refuses to bargain with Congress, insults opponents, imposes unpopular policies by fiat and seems surprised when his measures result in court challenges, when polarization increases, opposition solidifies, divisions harden and gridlock prevails. Deal-making is the essence of politics, but Obama finds it demeaning, so he resorts to brute force when he has the means to (as in the still-festering matter of healthcare). Alternatively, as with immigration, Obama resorts to executive actions that stir angry resistance and are frequently halted by courts.

This has gone on since 2009, but Dana Milbank noticed only when Obama began slighting Democrats, whereupon he began taking offense. “Rather than accept that they have a legitimate beef, he shows public contempt for them,” the Washington Post columnist complains, writing that Obama dissed fellow Democrats to friendly reporters as being short-sighted and dense. (Of course, he’s done that for years to Republicans, but they seem not to matter.) If Franklin Roosevelt was described as having a commonplace intellect but a brilliantly tempered political character, Obama seems to be his ultimate opposite: A man with an intellect that delights the elite but a temperament that is counterproductive in matters of government. This combination seems to work much less well.

Presidents can sometimes repair their mistakes, but only after they realize they’ve made them, which is something Obama can’t do…”

In other words, to Noemie’s point, if temperament counts, count The Obamao OUT!  No plan for ISIS, a foreign policy devoid of any semblance of sanity, a contracting economy and utter contempt for America’s allies, Congress, the SCOTUS, taxpaying Americans…and anyone else not in slavish servitude to his Socialist agenda.

None of which comes as any surprise to our regular readers.

EXCLUSIVE — Busted: Freshman GOP Rep Admits She Hasn’t Read ObamaTrade, Backs MSNBC’S Defense of Deal Secrecy

rubber-stamp-640x480

The Obamao rubber stamp: now available for House Republicans!

“Freshman GOP congresswoman Rep. Mimi Walters has been on television pushing Obamatrade—appearing Monday on Morning Joe on MSNBC to do so—but her office admits publicly she hasn’t read the bill she wants to fast-track through Congress.

Walters, whom Mika Brzezinski noted is the official “liaison” between House GOP freshmen and Speaker Rep. John Boehner’s leadership team, appeared on Morning Joe to push Obamatrade. Walters said:

Currently, what we are working on is Trade Promotion Authority. That issue we expect to take up by the end of the month. And what Trade Promotion Authority, known as TPA, is it’s really the framework of giving the president the opportunity to negotiate trade agreements with other countries. It’s very, very important that we pass this piece of legislation. It’s bipartisan. One in five jobs in America are created because of free trade, 95 percent of consumers are outside of the United States and if America doesn’t take the lead on trade then China is going to. I want America to take the lead and set the standards on trade.

But when Breitbart News asked Walters’ spokeswoman Christine Hardman later on Monday—after she blasted out video of the congresswoman’s appearance on Morning Joe, highlighting her support for Obamatrade—if Walters has been to the secret room inside the Capitol to read the text of the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) that TPA would fast track, collectively known as Obamatrade, Hardman confirmed Walters has not been there to read it…”

In all seriousness…

As noted at American Thinker:

“In December, Obama will negotiate a multi-country climate agreement in Paris.  We already know from Obama’s joint announcement with China that he will commit the United States to a huge reduction in carbon emissions of 26%-28% from 2005 levels, but he will let China, already a much larger carbon emitter, continue to expand its carbon emissions until 2030.

Obama would not need to get Congress to approve the unfair climate change treaty terms that he negotiates.  Instead, he could get the Commission set up by the Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement to add those terms to the Trans-Pacific Partnership.

After that, the Investor-State Dispute Settlement Provisions, set up by that agreement, could enforce Obama’s terms through the threat of multi-billion-dollar fines upon the U.S. government.”

Mayhem Outside MetLife Stadium During Summer Jam Concert

“Barbaric — the way they treat our people is like animals. If there was another concert this would’ve never happened,” said one concertgoer.

Uhhhh…perhaps because “your” people ACT like animals!  And guess what, homey?!?  Likely as not, such a riot WOULDN’T HAVE HAPPENED at most other concerts!!!

All kidding aside; other than the de rigueur Black Friday fracases at Walmart, can anyone name one riot in the last 40 years involving White people…one?!?

“A lie can travel half way around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes,” said Mark Twain. And in the age of social media, that lie can get to Mars and back before the truth can bestir itself.

Perhaps it’s a little much to compare the story that bombed Twitter and the internet yesterday with a “lie.” After all, police did actually respond to the disturbance at a suburban pool and apparently roughed up some black teenagers, with one officer pulling a gun.

The “lie” is one of omission — as in, what really happened at that pool and why the police response had absolutely nothing to do with race…”

California lawmakers move to halt offshore drilling after spill

BN-IN621_0520sp_P_20150520210139

Yes, folks; this latest spill is SOOOO massive volunteers are collecting the oil in 5-gallon Home Depot buckets.

California lawmakers are moving to halt offshore oil drilling on the heels of a major spill last month, amid Republican concerns the push could hurt jobs. The state Senate last week approved a bill, sponsored by Democratic state Sen. Mike McGuire, that would ban any new oil drilling in state waters off the California coast.

In May, California experienced its largest oil spill in 25 years. According to McGuire’s office, more than 100,000 gallons of oil from offshore platforms spilled from a ruptured pipeline along Santa Barbara’s coast…”

Holy crude, Batman!

batman-66

100,000 gallons sounds like an awful lot of black gold soiling the sun-drenched beaches of Santa Barbara!

Except when one considers your average semi-tanker holds over 10,000 gallons, and a regulation DOT-111 tank car…

TILX290344

…some 34,500 gallons.  Not to mention the pipeline in question has been carrying crude oil…without prior incident…since 1991, and operates at over 50,400 gallons per hour.

For the sake of reference, the Exxon Valdez sullied Prince William Sound with over 11 million gallons of Alaskan crude, while BP’s Deepwater Horizon spewed over 210 million gallons into the Gulf of Mexico.

Though the Environazis initially estimated the effects of Joe Hazelwood’s nautical DUI would persist in perpetuity, the clean-up was completed in less than three summers.  Likewise, though the beaches of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and West Florida were purported to be permanently polluted, the vast majority of the Gulf’s shores were miraculously open for business in mere months.

Is anyone else out there reminded of the Hockey Stick Graph?!?

In a related item forwarded by Jeff Foutch, Bloomberg (hardly a bastion of Conservatism!) details that…

Corn Ethanol Is Worse Than Keystone

35l6rf7

“…In a May 29 report, Emily Cassidy, a research analyst at EWG, says that “last year’s production and use of 14 billion gallons of corn ethanol resulted in 27 million tons more carbon emissions than if Americans had used straight gasoline in their vehicles.” She continues, “That’s worse than Keystone’s projected emissions.” (Another environmental group, Natural Resources Defense Council, has estimated that Keystone XL would increase carbon dioxide emissions by about 24 million tons per year.)

In a graphic comparing corn ethanol with standard gasoline and fuel produced from the oil sands, Cassidy shows that the carbon intensity of corn ethanol is about 120 grams of carbon-dioxide equivalent per megajoule of energy produced. That’s about 20 percent more than standard gasoline and about 10 percent more than that produced by the oil sands.

Cassidy concludes:

So far the federal corn ethanol mandate has resulted in a massive influx of dirty corn ethanol, which is bad for the climate and bad for consumers. The only interest it benefits is the ethanol industry…”

As contributor, and long-time reader Jeff Foutch observed, this is nothing more…or less…than:

More hypocrisy from the Left. This whole climate change issue is not about climate; it’s only about controlling the means of energy production by the Democrats to further their redistribution of wealth goals.

Case in point: while Hillary carpetbagged in the Senate, she voted against ethanol subsidies seventeen times.  As Bloomberg goes on to report, in ’02, three of her fellow wizards and she termed a bill to require the blending of two billion gallons of corn ethanol per year into America’s gas supplies:

an astonishing new anti-consumer government mandate. That same year, during a floor debate on the proposed mandates, she said she found it “impossible to understand why any pro-consumer, pro-health, pro-environment, anti-government mandate member of this body would vote for this provision.”

But since she decided to run for president, Clinton has switched sides. In her Gazette op-ed, she praises “rural clean energy” and says the Renewable Fuel Standard, the mandate that requires retailers to mix ethanol in gasoline, has been “a success for Iowa and much of rural America.”

Unfortunately, success for Iowa and the corn ethanol racket means failure for consumers and the environment.
