It’s Friday, July 22nd, 2016…but before we begin, three pictures, each worth well in excess of a mere thousand words.  First, two which tell you all you need to know about the credibility of the Black Lives Matter bullsh*t:

As previously noted…

hands up don't shoot lie

Second, the amazing Stilton Jarlsberg lends his matchless skills and unique brand of pointed humor to the latest Cruz kerfuffle:

Turnabout is Foul Play 1

And though we understand the perspective of those who question Cruz’s commitment, such as ConservativeHQ.com‘s Richard Viguerie…

After failing to endorse the Trump – Pence ticket last night, in eyes of most conservatives with whom I spoke, Ted Cruz became just another self-centered politician who walked back on a promise, failed to live up to his own Biblical standards and, when the battle raged the fiercest, put his own petty hurts before the future of his country and the conservative cause.

…we should also note both the RNC and Trump received a copy of Cruz’s prepared remarks some time before he went in front of the convention…and Ted changed nary a word during his delivery.

Still, we’re of the mind one should always tell another to go to Hell in such a way they look forward to the trip, a trick the good Senator from Texas has evidenced he’s yet to learn.

Now, here’s The Gouge!

At the top of today’s order, courtesy of Balls Cotton and The American Spectator, Ben Stein informs us why he’s more than a little under the weather:

Do I Feel Sick

201605-watn-extra-ben-stein-1-949x534

“Soetoro?…Soetoro?”

“I have been sick to death that when our President, Mr. Obama, spoke at a memorial for five police officers murdered by a black psychopathic racist, the President of all of the people spent far more time trying to justify the murders than to eulogize the slain.

Mr. Obama kept insisting it was all about racism. And Mr. Obama was right: It was all about the racism of a creature sick with evil who was jacked out of his mind by miscreants who simply make up “facts” of a white racist assault on black America. I am sick that these people, who go by names like Black Lives Matter and the New Black Panthers, completely ignore the truths about how so many young blacks die at each other’s hands and how few die from police bullets even once a confrontation has begun. I am sick that the prestige media lets these liars get away with it.

I am sick that a movement that was once based with dignity on allowing grown men and women to be able to vote has devolved into a movement to allow drunken sailors to urinate in a bathroom next to my five-year-old granddaughter — and the President of the United States is so foolish that he actually believes this is a meaningful cause.

not-on-our-side

I am down with a fever that the President ignores the murder with knives of Israeli children by Arab terrorists but calls the leader of the only democracy in the Middle East a ‘chickens–t’ — especially when that leader, Benjamin Netanyahu, is the bravest head of government of any nation in the last hundred years, with more combat heroism than Mr. Obama could even read about.

The world has gone crazy. Just plain crazy. We have a mass murderer killing the innocent in Orlando, calling 9-1-1 to say he’s acting as an agent of the Islamic State — and the President says we don’t know his motives. We have the racist police killer in Dallas killing the police who protect the blacks at will and the next day the streets are choked with college students and bums attacking the police. And no one calls this insane. I will. It’s insane.

All right. No, it’s not all right. We have a political party whose leaders and cadres literally scream with frenzied delight at the thought of mothers killing their own children — while at the same time piously denouncing the manufacturers of guns. The toll from semi-automatic rifles is about one hundredth of one percent the toll from abortions. And this is something for women to scream about with ecstasy.

God help us…”

All of which adds up to why January 2017 will give rise to a new day of national celebration…

ATT00073

…leastwise for Americans blessed with even a modicum of common sense.  Hat tip to our sister-in-law Amy for that little bon mot.

Unfortunately, as Dinesh D’Souza details in his new book, given the nature of the presumptive Dimocratic First Family, odds are Ben won’t be feeling significantly better anytime soon:

How the Clinton Foundation Got Rich off Poor Haitians

It filtered money through Haiti and back to itself.

hillarys-america-clinton-foundation-haiti

“…The devastating effect of the earthquake on a very poor nation provoked worldwide concern and inspired an outpouring of aid money intended to rebuild Haiti. Countries around the world, as well as private and philanthropic groups such as the Red Cross and the Salvation Army, provided some $10.5 billion in aid, with $3.9 billion of it coming from the United States.

Haitians such as Andre, however, noticed that very little of this aid money actually got to poor people in Haiti. Some projects championed by the Clintons, such as the building of industrial parks and posh hotels, cost a great deal of money and offered scarce benefits to the truly needy. Port-au-Prince was supposed to be rebuilt; it was never rebuilt. Projects aimed at creating jobs proved to be bitter disappointments. Haitian unemployment remained high, largely undented by the funds that were supposed to pour into the country. Famine and illness continued to devastate the island nation.

The Haitians were initially sympathetic to the Clintons. One may say they believed in the message of “hope and change.” With his customary overstatement, Bill told the media, “Wouldn’t it be great if they become the first wireless nation in the world? They could, I’m telling you, they really could.”

hillary-haiti-AP-640x480

I don’t blame the Haitians for falling for it; Bill is one of the world’s greatest story-tellers. He has fooled people far more sophisticated than the poor Haitians. Over time, however, the Haitians wised up. Whatever their initial expectations, many saw that much of the aid money seems never to have reached its destination; rather, it disappeared along the way.

Where did it go? It did not escape the attention of the Haitians that Bill Clinton was the designated UN representative for aid to Haiti. Following the earthquake, Bill Clinton had with media fanfare established the Haiti Reconstruction Fund. Meanwhile, his wife Hillary was the United States secretary of state. She was in charge of U.S. aid allocated to Haiti. Together the Clintons were the two most powerful people who controlled the flow of funds to Haiti from around the world…”

We used to view the Clinton clan as simple White trash, which quickly morphed into scum;  but scum doesn’t begin to describe someone capable of making untold millions off the misery of the poorest people on the planet.  Such conduct goes beyond even the depraved indifference of those we’d term human parasites and puts the Clintons on another level altogether:

The 9th Circle of Hell!

In a related item, writing at the WSJ, Dan Henninger describes a feeling we’ve shared of late, that of being…

A Nation at Half-Mast

The torrent of tragedies before the GOP convention may affect the electorate’s choice of a president.

half-staff-flags2

“Driving past a suburban city hall in Cleveland last weekend, a relative of mine said, “It seems like the flags are always at half mast now. They go up and then they come back down.” She’s right. The U.S. has become a nation at half-mast.

What the week’s events has pressed into people’s minds is the feeling, correct or not, of the absence of answers or explanation. Voters are starting to feel trapped with no apparent exit.

That was the silent scream discovered on the Facebook page of murdered Baton Rouge police officer Montrell Jackson, a 32-year-old black man: “I swear to God I love this city but I wonder if this city loves me. In uniform I get nasty hateful looks and out of uniform some consider me a threat. I’ve experienced so much in my short life and these last three days have tested me to the core. These are trying times.” Effectively speaking for the entire country, he wrote: “I’m tired physically and emotionally.”

I’m not suggesting people are looking for some sort of can’t-we-all-just-get-along moment from these two candidates or “toning down the rhetoric.” The word that comes to mind is gravitasa candidate whose seriousness rises to the electorate’s.

26ce25c3cb8de1d99dbfc9df4703978b

…The Democratic convention has scheduled speeches by seven Mothers of the Movement, mothers whose children were killed in confrontations with the police. This notwithstanding the fact that the legal system has cleared the accused officers in several cases. In an open letter to the police Tuesday, Mr. Obama said, “We have your backs.” Too late. The politics of his party on the police has been set.

It is impossible here not to note the obvious—that most voters find Hillary Clinton’s constant claims of presidential seriousness wholly implausible.

The acceptance speech Donald Trump will deliver Thursday night is his chance to rise from the level shared now in the public mind by both him and Mrs. Clinton. To date, the electorate has heard payback, blame and promises. After the events of the past week, they’ll be looking for something bigger than that.

Which brings us to the latest from NRO‘s David French; for the record, though we understand his point, we don’t agree American has the luxury of time French foresees when he suggests…

Never Trump, Now More than Ever

The movement isn’t dead. In fact, it just became even more vital.

donald-trump-is-still-soaring-in-iowa--but-there-are-now-some-clear-warning-signs

“The demise of the Never Trump movement is greatly exaggerated. There is no doubt that its members failed in one of their aims — denying Donald Trump the GOP nomination — but Never Trump was only partially about this election. At its core, the movement represents a statement about the role of character and ideas in American politics and culture.

Every four years, Americans are tempted toward myopia. Each election is themost important election in our lifetimes.” Each election is the election that will decide whether America stands or falls; if the wrong man or woman wins, then we will “never recover.” So the pressure builds to take sides. After all, with the fate of the nation at stake, who wants to be on the sidelines?

But there’s another view, one that holds both that politics is downstream from culture and that culture and politics aren’t dictated by any single election but rather by countless people, events, and ideas interacting in unpredictable ways. Elections are important, to be sure, but they aren’t as important as ideas and character when it comes to shaping the destiny of a nation…”

History is replete with examples of nations and peoples who only realized they’d been teetering on a tippling point as they plunged into the abyss.  America’s been…or will be…lucky to survive 8 years of Obama; it’s our opinion we won’t make it through 8 more under Hillary…at least not as a Constitutional Republic.

Sure, Trump’s a gamble; but Hillary‘s a sure thing:

Moving on, Thomas Sowell identifies a particularly egregious example from the almost endless list of Liberal inanities:

The Dumbest Idea

How long will we continue to assume that equal representation is the norm?

equal-representation-dumb-idea

Political crusades, bureaucratic empires, and lucrative personal careers as grievance mongers have been built on the foundation of that assumption, which is almost never tested against any facts.

A recent article in the New York Times saw as a problem the fact that females are greatly under-represented among the highest-rated chess players. Innumerable articles, TV stories, and political outcries have been based on an “under-representation” of women in Silicon Valley, seen as a problem that needs to be solved.

Are there girls out there dying to play chess, who find the doors slammed shut in their faces? Are there women with Ph.D.s in computer science from MIT and Cal Tech who get turned away when they apply for jobs in Silicon Valley?

Are girls and boys not allowed to have different interests? If girls had the same interest in chess as boys had, but were banned from chess clubs, that would be something very different from their not choosing to play chess as often as boys do. As for chess ratings, that is not subjective. It is based (exclusively) on which players, with which ratings, you have won against and lost to.

Are women and men not to be allowed to make different decisions as to how they choose to spend their time and live their lives?…”

Not if Hillary and her ilk have any say in the matter!  Remember, Liberals are never content to live and let live.  If they don’t like guns, to HELL with the Constitution; you can’t have them either.  Love a thick, juicy New York strip?  Not so fast, you insensitive Neanderthal; “they” think your tastes should run towards a tofu burger…to the exclusion of any other options!  Thus the Bill or Rights guarantees freedom only as long as your liberty…

a47f6218774ace39155e607e72cab54b

…doesn’t conflict with their feelings.

And in today’s Environmental Moment, an article regarding the one aspect of The Great Climate Scam we thought was settled:

Global Temperatures Are Mostly Fake

gigo-noaa

“NOAA claims global temperatures are the hottest ever, based on some rather spectacular junk science. NOAA doesn’t actually have any temperature data over most of the land surface…they never had any data from most of the southern hemisphere...and they made up much of their southern hemisphere ocean data.

Oh,…did we forget to mention…

The US has NOAA’s best data, and almost half it is also fake…”
