It’s Friday, May 26th, 2017…and we apologize for our failure to publish this past Wednesday.  We had the opportunity to watch the Blue Angels practice show in Annapolis on Tuesday…

…and took our hosts to dinner afterwards.  And frankly, by the time we got back to the ranch around 2200 hours, we were too bushed to blog.

But before we begin, consider these two questions:

Was This Cal State LA Student Detained by Border Patrol Because of Her Activism?

African American Caucus leaders want to know why U.S. Rep. Maxine Waters was cut off during state convention speech

The answer is both obvious and the same: who cares?!?  The former’s an illegal alien who doesn’t belong here, while the latter’s an utterly ignorant and obnoxious gas bag we fervently wish wasn’t here!

And by the way, like most of the species Liberalis Hypocraticus, this parasitic Progressive doesn’t even live amongst the hosts off which she feeds:

Oh,…and even LBJ, a man known to frequently use the strongest profanity in private…

…must be rolling over in his grave!

Now, here’s The Gouge!

First up, yet another story you won’t find covered by the MSM:

Nets Blackout Massive Constitutional Violations by Obama’s NSA

You’ll recall all Nixon did was cover-up the third-rate burglary of the DNC’s offices in The Watergate.  Nothing to see or prosecute here folks…move along!

Next, the WSJ proudly presents…

The Unapologetic American

Donald Trump brings a new message to the Middle East.

“President Donald Trump’s Sunday address in Saudi Arabia was bound to inspire comparisons to the speech Barack Obama delivered in Cairo, Egypt at a similar point in his young presidency. And just like his predecessor, Mr. Trump expressed gratitude and respect for his hosts. But the 45th U.S. President quickly made clear that he did not fly to the Middle East on his first overseas trip in order to explain what’s wrong with America.

It would be a crude overstatement to say that the message has gone from America worst to America first in one presidency. Mr. Obama did speak favorably of his country several times during his Cairo address. But the difference between Barack Obama’s speech in 2009 and the Trump remarks on Sunday in Riyadh is striking.

In 2009, Mr. Obama started out by making the case why Muslims should view his country with distrust

…In Riyadh on Sunday, President Trump spent no time blaming America or making excuses for our adversaries. But he did note the possibilities available to a Middle East that rejects terror:

The potential of this region has never been greater. 65 percent of its population is under the age of 30. Like all young men and women, they seek great futures to build, great national projects to join, and a place for their families to call home.

But this untapped potential, this tremendous cause for optimism, is held at bay by bloodshed and terror. There can be no coexistence with this violence.

There can be no tolerating it, no accepting it, no excusing it, and no ignoring it. (Though his predecessor repeatedly practiced all four!)

Mr. Trump added that “no discussion of stamping out this threat would be complete” without mentioning the government that gives terrorists “safe harbor, financial backing, and the social standing needed for recruitment. It is a regime that is responsible for so much instability in the region. I am speaking of course of Iran.” And he left no ambiguity about who was responsible:

The Iranian regime’s longest-suffering victims are its own people. Iran has a rich history and culture, but the people of Iran have endured hardship and despair under their leaders’ reckless pursuit of conflict and terror. Until the Iranian regime is willing to be a partner for peace, all nations of conscience must work together to isolate Iran, deny it funding for terrorism, and pray for the day when the Iranian people have the just and righteous government they deserve.

By the way, this column should note that perhaps the most striking comment when one looks back at Mr. Obama’s 2009 remarks has little to do with U.S. foreign policy, but underlines how far and how quickly the Democratic Party has moved on issues of sexual identity. Toward the end of his speech, Mr. Obama said, “The Holy Koran tells us: ‘O mankind! We have created you male and a female; and we have made you into nations and tribes so that you may know one another.’” Referencing that line today in the era of transgender politics would have progressives back in the U.S. shrieking for a safe space…”

Talk about a breath of fresh air!  If any further comment were needed, we’d refer you to our Quote of the Day and accompanying illustration at the top of the page.

Meanwhile, in a follow-up to last Friday’s item detailing Conservatives’ general support for the selection of Robert Mueller as Special Prosecutor, the WSJ‘s Kim Strassel offers…

The Mueller Caveat

His integrity is unquestioned. But can he be objective toward Comey?

“Professional medical organizations have a simple guideline: It’s a bad idea for doctors to treat their friends or relatives. No matter how skilled, no matter how upright, a doctor who does risks losing his objectivity. The big question is whether this applies to Washington’s new scandal doctor, Robert Mueller.

In tapping Mr. Mueller as special counsel to look into Russia’s interference in the 2016 election, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein has certainly doused the political flames. Democrats were forced to tone down their chant for instant impeachment. Republicans were able to step back from the escalating headlines.

That’s because the new guy is as skilled and upright as they come. A Robert Mueller word-association game would go something like this: integrity, honor, respect, order, discipline, honesty, fairness. He is a decorated Marine, a Princeton grad, a respected federal prosecutor and a former FBI director. Mr. Mueller has tackled strongmen and terrorists, working under Republicans and Democrats. He has little use for the press or the limelight, which—in the current hysterical environment—is a singular qualification.

In short, nobody doubts Mr. Mueller will lead as professional an investigation as he is capable of conducting. It’s the “capable” bit that provides the one note of concern.

The FBI’s culture is even more famous and pronounced. Tens of thousands of special agents and staff from different backgrounds come together to protect the country from criminals and terrorists. Outside the military, no other Washington body rivals the FBI’s esprit de corps.

“Does this mean my schwantz is proportionately shorter?!?”

Mr. Mueller spent nearly his entire career within these insular worlds. What’s more, he’s a longtime colleague of none other than James Comey. Garrett M. Graff, a Mueller biographer, wrote in Politico this week that Mr. Comey “treated Mueller as a close friend and almost mentor.” The two men have worked together, socialized together, and once even threatened to resign together. It was Mr. Mueller as FBI head who was with Mr. Comey, then deputy attorney general, during the infamous 2004 showdown with the Bush administration over NSA spying.

All this matters because Mr. Comey is now a central figure in the Russia drama—no matter what Democrats say. Mr. Rosenstein has charged Mr. Mueller with investigating not merely Russian interference in the election, but “any matters that arose or may arise directly from the investigation.” This presumably includes the recent firing of Mr. Comey. Democrats claim Mr. Trump dismissed the FBI director to halt further probing into his alleged Russia ties. The White House claims Mr. Comey was canned for his multiple breaches of protocol. Someone must discover the truth.

But how objective can even the upright Mr. Mueller be about the conduct of an old colleague, part of the same FBI club? How likely is Mr. Mueller to evaluate objectively the president who unceremoniously fired that associate and friend?…”

Inquiring minds want to know.

Then there’s this bit of Progressive propaganda, i.e., “fake news” from The Daily Beast, primarily sourced through the ethically-compromised WaPo:

Report: Trump Asked Intelligence Chiefs to Deny Evidence of Campaign’s Collusion With Russia

President Trump asked (to use the MSM’s Obama standard, not “ordered“, “asked“!) two of the nation’s top intelligence officials in March to help him push back against an FBI investigation into possible coordination between his campaign and the Russian government, according to current and former officials.

Trump made separate appeals to the director of national intelligence, Daniel Coats, and to Adm. Michael S. Rogers, the director of the National Security Agency, urging them to publicly deny the existence of any evidence of collusion during the 2016 election.

Coats and Rogers refused to comply with the requests, which they both deemed to be inappropriate, according to two current and two former officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss private communications with the president…”

In other words, in total violation of a host of national security statutes!!!

Here’s a little factoid the WaPo saw fit to insert at the tail end of its article:

In his call with Rogers, Trump urged the NSA director to speak out publicly if there was no evidence of collusion, according to officials briefed on the exchange.

The last time we looked, even Alan Dershowitz appreciates…

…like the FBI, both the DNI and the NSA ultimately report directly to the POTUS, and are thus not only subject to presidential directives, but are employees at will!

In a related item, as this headline from FOX News demonstrates…

Jared Kushner is under FBI scrutiny, new report alleges

…even the supposed mouthpiece of the Right isn’t immune to the scourge of fake news.  Again, the money line comes later in the story:

“…Investigators think that Kushner, who is married to Trump’s daughter Ivanka, has substantial information relevant to the investigation, officials told NBC.

The information Kushner may possess, however, doesn’t mean that officials necessarily suspect him of a crime or intend to charge him…”

In other words, WE could very well be “under FBI scrutiny”…and this “report” is total bullsh*t.

It would be nice if this report were true, and some of the leaks in the Oval Office are about to be plugged.

Since we’re on the subject of fake news, Townhall.com details a Dimocratic loss the average American views as gain:

Education Official Resigns Following Argument With DeVos

James Runcie, chief operating officer of the Office of Federal Student Aid, resigned Wednesday night after a disagreement with Education Secretary Betsy DeVos. DeVos had asked Runcie to testify before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee about the department’s supposed mishandling of improper financial aid payments. He refused, sending the following memo to his coworkers laying out his concerns about the Trump administration’s “micromanagement.

I am incredibly concerned about significant constraints being placed on our ability to allocate and prioritize resources, make decisions and deliver on the organization’s mission,” Runcie wrote in the memo that was obtained by POLITICO. He added that he was “encumbered from exercising my authorities to properly lead this great organization” and that he could not continue as chief “given the risk associated with the current environment at the Department.

Runcie continued to explain in the memo that the chief financial officer would be better prepared to answer the Oversight Committee’s questions…”

Question: what’s a busload of senior government bureaucrats at the bottom of the ocean?

Answer: a great start!

Which brings us to today’s Environmental Moment, and this hypocritical Heat Street report:

Obama Speaks on Global Warming, Then Spews CO2 With Private Jet, 13-Car Motorcade

“…Obama and his wife Michelle are in Italy this week on vacation, after the former President spoke to the Institute for International Political Studies in Milan on the importance of addressing climate change, to preserve the world’s food supply and protect its underprivileged.

Apparently, he’s decided to demonstrate humanity’s contribution to global warming by making his own carbon footprint as big as possible.

In just his trip back and forth to Italy, for his presentation and his vacation, Barack Obama has emitted more than 16 metric tons of carbonjust shy of what an average American emits in a yearAdd to that the motorcade, the internal travel in Italy, and, of course, the villa, and Obama and his wife have easily emitted more carbon in one single week than most Americans will in 2017.

Last week, Obama implored those same Americans – and their compatriots across Europe – to cut down on their carbon emissions in order to draw global warming to a standstill…”

On The Lighter Side

Then there’s another incredibly asinine story straight from the politically-correct pages of the Progressive Crime Blotter:

Growing Concern Over Brothers Arrested With Guns, Bomb-Making Materials

There are growing concerns about the arrest of two brothers with ties to the Middle East who authorities say had an arsenal with bomb-making materials, guns and ammunition in their car.

Twenty-seven-year-old Abdullah Alrifahe and 26-year-old Majid Alrifahe were arrested on May 11 in north Minneapolis. Abdullah is being held in the Hennepin County Jail. His brother, Majid, has been released and is facing minor charges.

…A good Samaritan confronted the men about littering from their car. The man, who asked that his name not be used for fear of his safety, said the brothers jumped out of their car, moved aggressively toward him and used the N-word. He then called police. Inside the brothers’ car, police found a loaded AK-47, another rifle, a handgun, a grenade, large amounts of ammunition, and what would later be identified as bomb-making materials, including a drone.

Abdullah Alrifahe had recently been released from jail after serving time for a weapons conviction. He is now facing a single felony weapons charge. His brother, Majid, has been released from jail and is facing a low-level misdemeanor charges, including disorderly conduct.

The good Samaritan is outraged the charges aren’t more serious…”

As are we; however, certain parties…

…be celebratin‘!  We can only imagine the charges any of us would have faced had law enforcement authorities discovered a loaded AK-47, hand grenade and bomb-making materials in our vehicle.

Coupled with the fact authorities were warned about the Manchester concert killer five years before the fact, we’re convinced The Left has a death wish…though they’re always imagining it’s others who’ll provide the obituaries.

Finally, if you’ll forgive a brief moment of rank self-promotion, like O’Neill in Platoon, though…

…we’re finally asking for a favor: if you would be so kind as to recommend The Gouge to as many like-minded Conservative patriots as possible, it would be greatly appreciated!

Here’s wishing everyone a safe and enjoyable Memorial Day weekend.  We trust, amidst the hamburgers and hotdogs, you’ll take a moment to reflect upon why we’re able to enjoy our freedoms…

…with no thanks whatsoever to the modern Dimocratic Party.
