It’s Wednesday, January 24th, 2018…but before we begin, if we weren’t already done with the NFL as a result of its continued countenance of the Nuts Who Say Knee, we’d be doubly-done with it now:

NFL rejects veterans group’s Super Bowl ad urging people to stand for the anthem

The nation’s largest veterans service organization had been invited by the NFL to place an ad in the Super Bowl LII program. AMVET’s advertisement included a two-word message – “#PleaseStand.” “It’s a simple, polite request that represents the sentiment of our membership, particularly those whose missing or paralyzed limbs preclude standing,” wrote National Commander Marion Polk in a letter to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.

…NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy defended the league’s decision to ban the American Veterans’ advertisement noting that the game day program “is designed for fans to commemorate and celebrate the game, players, teams and the Super Bowl.” “It’s never been a place for advertising that could be considered by some as a political statement,” McCarthy told Army Times.

So, the NFL believes that politely asking people to stand for the Star-Spangled Banner is akin to making a political statement?

Perhaps the Goodell was concerned that a “political statement” in the game day program might take away from the “political statements” being made on the football field when players take a knee.

Freedom of speech works both ways. We respect the rights of those who choose to protest, as these rights are precisely what our members have fought – and in many cases died – for,” Polk wrote. But imposing corporate censorship to deny that same right to those veterans who have secured it for us all is reprehensible and totally beyond the pale.”…”

To which we can only add a most emphatic “AMEN“!!!  As far as we’re concerned, Roger Goodell and the entire NFL hierarchy, along with the protesting players, can all go…

And since we’re on the subject of those we wish a quick trip to the infernal regions, Townhall.com‘s Katie Pavlich records how…

Leftists Lose Their Minds Over Schumer Caving on Shutdown

“It’s been nearly 24 hours since Minority Leader Chuck Schumer got Democrats in line to end the #SchumerShutdown. It was the right thing to do but leftists, who Schumer usually (“usually”?!?) sides with, are absolutely enraged by the cave.

ACLU:

Enough is enough. We cannot rely on empty promises from those who have already proven to play politics with the lives of Dreamers. Today, Republicans — and too many Democrats — in Congress betrayed our American values and allowed bigotry and fear to prevail. (Once again, principled opposition to ILLEGAL immigration can only be the result of bigotry and fear.) But too many lives are on the line and too much is at stake to give up on this fight. Let it be known — we will be watching, and will make sure voters this November know if their representatives stood for Dreamers or for their deportation.”

…Progressive Change Campaign Committee:

Today’s cave by Senate Democrats—led by weak-kneed, right-of-center Democrats—is why people don’t believe the Democratic Party stands for anythingThese weak Democrats hurt the party brand for everyone and make it harder to elect Democrats everywhere in 2018.”

Etc. Glorious cannibalism at work.

Though Joy Reid’s absolutely asinine reaction deserves special mention:

Then again, non-stop asininity is pretty much all Reid and the rest of CNN has to offer.  All of which makes it obvious, given her incomparable level of ignorance, Reid’s Christian name resulted from an uninterrupted state of bliss.

Seriously, anyone who tunes into Reid’s show for anything but comedic relief should be euthanized and their brain donated to science for the purpose of pathogenic prevention.

Now, here’s The Gouge!

By now you’ve no doubt read about the FBI’s convenient loss of 5 months of emails

…between Peter Stzrok and his paramour, Lisa Page, as well as the fact newly released texts between ex-Mueller team members suggest they knew the outcome of the Clinton email “probe” was preordained at the highest levels of the Executive Branch.

But as Debra Heine details at PJ Media, all these may have been mere openers for the main event:

Claim: Page and Strzok Referenced FBI ‘Secret Society’ that Met the Day After the Election

There is serious talk on Capitol Hill about the appointment of a second special counsel amid several new bombshell revelations swirling around the Trump/Russia probe. First, there are the allegations of shocking and substantial government surveillance abuses under President Obama outlined in the FISA abuse memo. Secondly, the FBI lost five months of key text messages between the anti-Trump/pro-Clinton FBI officials Peter Strzok and his mistress Lisa Page. And now there’s talk of a “secret society” of officials within the FBI that apparently met the day after the election of Donald J. Trump to plot against the president-elect.

Top Republicans now believe there may be real grounds for a second special counsel, Fox News reported Monday evening.

According to Fox News, Nunes, Gowdy and Goodlatte are in the process of going through the steps necessary to release the four-page FISA memo and intend to see it released to the public by early February.

The FBI (you know, the guys who never respond to anybody, including Congress!) has demanded to see a copy of the memo, but so far — understandably —  the Intelligence Committee has declined to show them their hand. Republicans believe that publishing the memo will but pressure on Attorney General Jeff Sessions to appoint a second special counsel, Fox News reported.

“It’s really clear to me that the decision was made in May of 2016 — two months before the press conference,” Gowdy said. (Which would make…big surprise…Jim Comey a liar!) “Of course Loretta Lynch knew he wasn’t going to be charged. Everyone except the public knew that she was not going to be charged.”

“We knew that Strzok and Page had an intense anti-Trump bias and that’s okay so long as they check it at the door and do their job,” Ratcliffe said. “But we learned today in the thousands of text messages that we reviewed that perhaps they may not have done that.”

Ratcliffe went on to mention one particular text message that referenced a “secret society” at the Bureau. “We know about this insurance policy that was referenced in trying to prevent Donald Trump from becoming president,” he began. “We learned today about information in the immediate aftermath of his election that there may have been a ‘secret society’ of folks within the Department of Justice and the FBI to include Page and Strzok that would be working against him.”…”

It’s worth remembering the FBI’s reputation for dedication and integrity is wholly undeserved, for as James Bovard so accurately observes in his must-read commentary at The Hill:

Destroying, suppressing evidence is FBI standard procedure

“Congressional investigators were rocked this weekend when the FBI notified them that five months of text messages from a top FBI investigator into the Trump campaign’s Russian connections had mysteriously vanished.

The FBI-issued cell phone of Peter Strzok, whose previous texts to his mistress (also an FBI employee) showed fierce hostility to Trump, suddenly had problems due to “software upgrades” and other issuesand voila all the messages between the two from Dec. 14, 2016, to May 17, 2017 vanished. Strzok, who oversaw the Trump investigation from its start in July 2016, was removed from Mueller’s Special Counsel investigation last summer after the Justice Department Inspector General discovered his anti-Trump texts.

Conservatives are caterwauling about the vanished evidence but this type of tactic has long been standard procedure for the FBI

L. Patrick Gray’s private bonfire

The Ruby Ridge assassinations

The Branch Davidian massacre

The Cliven Bundy stand-off

Hillary Clinton’s calculated contravention of federal law.

Will the FBI face any consequences for its latest lost evidence debacle? In our high-tech era, it is no longer necessary to toss damning evidence into a fireplace.Software upgrades” sounds so innocuous that only conspiracy theorists could wonder about missing smoking guns(Unless, like anyone with a smart phone, you know software upgrades don’t erase text messages!) But the FBI is no closer to being compelled to operate openly than when Patrick Gray ignited those White House files.

In other words, the fix may well be in!  Folks, this is Banana Republic “justice” and government.

On Tuesday, we phoned The Boss while we were both listening as Rush wondered whether the Intelligence Community’s 100% certainty Saddam Hussein’s WMD’s posed a clear and present danger wasn’t a false flag operation by the Deep State to take down, or at least weaken, George W. Bush.

Steve thought it highly unlikely…until we mentioned who, until relatively recently, would have ever thought the FBI could be so riddled with corruption.  Which led us to recall there was a time, not that long ago, we would NEVER have believed it even REMOTELY possible the “leaders” of America’s Armed Forces would willingly sacrifice America’s national defense on the altar of political correctness and social engineering…all for the mere pottage of personal profit.

Here’s the juice: we don’t know who to trust anymore.  From what we’ve seen to date of Jeff Sessions and Trey Gowdy, they talk a great game, but thus far they’ve produced little in the way of results.  Sorry, but when the likes of Lois Lerner, John Koskinen, James Clapper, James Comey, Loretta Lynch, Cheryl Mills, Huma Abedin and Hillary Clinton continue to collect taxpayer-funded pensions rather than serving time, we consider tough talk and the enforcement of federal marijuana laws scant comfort.

Trust us, the Deep State will maintain America is akin to LT Kaffee in A Few Good Men:

And since, as Cheryl Mills’ email conclusively confirms…

…the corruption in the prior Administration went all the way to the Oval Office, bringing Hillary to justice will necessarily entail educating Progressives to the fact their anointed savior was in truth a fraud: i.e., just another corruptocratic product of Chicago politics.  Thus would the divide between Left and Right, Feelings and Facts, which is already formidably wide become unbridgeable.

As G. Trevor, Lord High King of All Vietors recently noted, “It’s gotten to the point where all government officials should wear body cameras that can neither be removed nor turned off.”

All of which makes one thing certain: like Neo, America’s about to take the red pill…

…and see just how deep the rabbit hole, AND the Deep State, goes.  As well as whether Republicans are a part of it.

We can only suggest that we as country collectively…

Next up, writing at NRO‘s The Corner, Rich Lowry astutely warns the GOP that in future negotiations,…

Beware a Democratic ‘Surrender’ on the Wall

Luis Gutiérrez says he’s willing to build the Wall himself if it helps the Dreamers, and Chuck Schumer put funding for the Wall on the table in his Friday meeting with Trump. There should be an enormous amount of skepticism about this.

Even if everyone in Washington has the best of intentions, a Wall is unlikely to be built anytime soon, given the the logistical, legal, and bureaucratic challenges. And Democrats don’t have good intentions. If they take back Congress, surely one of their first priorities will be to defund and stop whatever Wall has been authorized.

Also, border security, properly considered, is about much more than the Wall — it requires all sorts of resources and authorities to make sure that people who are caught at the border don’t make it into the country anyway. Are Democrats going to accede to those?

Finally, this isn’t a big departure for immigration doves — they were also willing to throw money, about $30 billion, at the border to sweeten up the Gang of Eight bill. They are in a position now where they can make a theatrical concession on the border to try to get the kind of deal that restrictionists have always opposed — an immediate amnesty, for border security later.

With apologies to Virgil, what Lowry’s saying is “Beware of Geeks bearing gifts!”

An Honest Challenge for the Never Trumpers

During the Republican primaries, I was very nearly a Never Trumper, so I’m quite sympathetic to that mindset. But I have a challenge for all of you who still identify as Never Trumpers: Are you willing to be as honest about the accomplishments of President Trump as you are about his failings?…”

Rather than honesty, we foresee a doubling-down of opposition to a man who, despite being a loose cannon, in barely a year has nonetheless enacted more Conservative executive orders, appointed more dependably Conservative jurists and backed far more Conservative legislation than the Bush family did in twelve

Then there’s today’s entry in the Your Tax Dollars at Work segment, as The Daily Wire informs us…

Democratic Governor Of Hawaii Couldn’t Notify Public That Missile Alarm Was False Because He Didn’t Know His Twitter Password

Ige is shown above giving his State of the State address, in which he touted his accomplishments over the past year while neglecting to mention either the erroneous inbound alert or his culpability in its delayed retraction.

Reports Ige concluded his speech by dancing the hula remain unconfirmed.

And in the Environmental Moment, Mount Mayon just cancelled out all the Environazis’ highly-touted greenhouse gas reductions for the last 25 years.

Philippines volcano sends huge plume of ash into sky, prompts warning from officials

Which brings us, appropriately enough, to The Lighter Side:

Finally, we’ll call it a day with yet another titillating tale torn from the pages of The Crime Blotter, as FOX News reports…

Woman mad at US actions abroad set campus fires, prosecutors say

“…Tnuza Jamal Hassan, 19, a former student at St. Catherine University in St. Paul, allegedly confessed to investigators that she started multiple fires on campus last week, including one in a dormitory housing a day care centerShe was charged with first-degree arson and was held Friday night in the Ramsey County Jail on $100,000 bail.

“Hassan stated she started the fires because she’s been reading about the US military destroying schools in Iraq or Afghanistan and she felt that she should do exactly the same thing,” a criminal complaint said. She said that her fire-starting was not as successful as she wanted.”

Hassan allegedly harbored radical ideas and wrote a letter to her roommates containing “radical ideas about supporting Muslims and bringing back the caliphate.”

The complaint claims the woman told the police and fire investigators that “You guys are lucky that I don’t know how to build a bomb because I would have done that.” “Hassan said she wanted the school to burn to the ground and that her intent was to hurt people,” the complaint added. “Hassan said this was that same thing that happened in ‘Muslim land’ and nobody cares if they get hurt, so why not do this?”

The university said the woman was enrolled at the university in the fall 2017 semester but eventually dropped out because she and her family were planning a vacation in Ethiopia.

The authorities did not disclose Hassan’s nationality, citing privacy laws.

Since WHEN?!?  Is there any question had this been the work of a home-grown neo-Nazi White supremacist the authorities would have been more than happy to disclose her nationality?!?

Seriously, this story is sooo wrong on sooo many levels.  First, if the complaint is accurate, and Hassan did in fact confess an intent to kill, why is she not also charged with multiple counts of attempted murder?  Second, again, if the complaint is accuratewould not her statement as to motive warrant additional charges of terrorism?  Third, if she in fact confessed to committing an act of terrorism, why was she granted bail at all, let alone bail of only $100,000?

Lastly, and this is the kicker: given their policy pronouncements to date, Hassan is the very type of person The Donald wants to weed out…and Dimocrats continue to protect!

Substitute “Politically-correct Progressives” for “The Capitalists” as the seller in the transaction described below, and what was once true for Communism…

…is now accurate for Islamofacism.

Just sayin’.
