It’s Wednesday, May 16th, 2018…but before we begin, allow us to address the issue of increasingly frequent hyperbolic headlines, i.e., those which are accompanied by articles setting forth facts bearing no resemblance whatsoever to what their subject line suggests.  Exhibit “A”: this banner broadcast by FOX News:

Google workers quit in mass protest of search giant’s military AI project

Now, guess what constitutes a “mass”, at least for FOX.  Try “about a dozen”…out of some 62,000.  Thus, according to FOX News, .019355% of a company’s workforce now constitutes a “mass”.  Here’s another example, submitted as Exhibit “B”:

Black Trump supporter attacked at Cheesecake Factory over MAGA hat

“Confronted”?  Definitely.  “Threatened”?  Perhaps.  But “attacked“?  Only if words now carry the force of physical blows, which is the impression the headline intentionally purveyed.

Our level of disgust occasioned by highly inflammatory, wholly-inaccurate headlines is only exceeded by our distaste for Dimocrats in general…and John McCain specifically.

And now a quick question: as Keith Koffler wonders, why was the opening of a U.S. embassy in Havana “historic”, while the relocation of our embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem “controversial”?

Easy answer: because the MSM agreed with the former, and disapproved of the latterNothing to do with the reporting of actual facts, rather everything involving the expression of personal opinion.

Any question why we wouldn’t piss on any of these biased buffoons were they fully engulfed in flames?!?

And since we’re on the subject, here’s nine other individuals

…we wouldn’t extinguish with our bodily fluids were they afire.

Now, here’s The Gouge!

First up, writing at Real Clear Investigations, Paul Sperry reveals the truth…

Behind Cruz’s Florida Rampage, Obama’s School-Leniency Policy

“…In 2013, the year before Cruz entered high school, the Broward County school system rewrote its discipline policy to make it much more difficult for administrators to suspend or expel problem students, or for campus police to arrest them for misdemeanorsincluding some of the crimes Cruz allegedly committed in the years and months leading up to the deadly Feb. 14 shooting at his Fort Lauderdale-area school.

The new policy resulted from an Obama administration effort begun in 2011 to keep students in school and improve racial outcomes (timeline here), and came against a backdrop of other efforts to rein in perceived excesses in “zero tolerance” discipline policies, including in Florida.

Broward school Superintendent Robert W. Runcie – a Chicagoan and Harvard graduate with close ties to President Obama and his Education Department – signed an agreement with the county sheriff and other local jurisdictions to trade cops for counseling. Students charged with various misdemeanors, including assault, would now be disciplined through participation in “healing circles,” obstacle courses and other “self-esteem building” exercises.

Asserting that minority students, in particular, were treated unfairly by traditional approaches to school discipline, Runcie’s goal was to slash arrests and ensure that students, no matter how delinquent, graduated without criminal records.

The achievement gap “becomes intensified in the school-to-prison pipeline, where black males are disproportionately represented,” he said at the time.“We’re not going to continue to arrest our kids,” headded. “Once you have an arrest record, it becomes difficult to get scholarships, get a job, or go into the military.”

Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel backed Runcie’s plan to diminish the authority of police in responding to campus crime. A November 2013 video shows him signing the district’s 16-page “collaborative agreement on school discipline,” which lists more than a dozen misdemeanors that can no longer be reported to police, along with five steps police must “exhaust” before even considering placing a student under arrest.

In just a few years, ethnically diverse Broward went from leading the state of Florida in student arrests to boasting one of its lowest school-related incarceration rates. Out-of-school suspensions and expulsions also plummeted.

Runcie had been working closely with Obama Education Secretary Arne Duncan on the reforms ever since landing the Broward job in 2011, using as a reference the name of the Cabinet secretary, his former boss in the Chicago school system. Applications for federal grants reveal that Runcie’s plan factored into approval of tens of millions of dollars in federal funding from Duncan’s department.

In January 2014, his department issued new discipline guidelines strongly recommending that the nation’s schools use law enforcement measures and out-of-school suspensions as a last resort. Announced jointly by Duncan and then-Attorney General Eric Holder, the new procedures came as more than friendly guidance from Uncle Sam – they also came with threats of federal investigations and defunding for districts that refused to fully comply…”

In other words, rather than blaming the NRA, those touched and/or outraged by the Parkland shooting should be saying…

…along with forwarding notes of appreciation to…

…Robert Runcie and Scott Israel.  From where we sit, had Nikolas Cruz targeted only Runcie and Israel, his would have been a righteous kill.

Speaking of hopelessly misguided, counterproductive Progressive policies, now that the Seattle City Council (duly referenced above) has unanimously passed a $275/employee tax on businesses netting at least $20M annually, we’ve no doubt Todd Herman’s prediction of the future will come to pass:

What if Seattle Councilmembers Sawant and O’Brien get their jobs tax?

Iranian Group Offers $100,000 to Blow Up New U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem

“…A group known as the Iranian Justice Seeker Student Movement is reported to have disseminated posters calling for an attack on the U.S. embassy in Jerusalem, which has been opposed by Palestinian and Iranian officials as an affront to the holy city. “The Student Justice Movement will support anybody who destroy the illegal American embassy in Jerusalem,” the poster states in Farsi, Arabic, and English, according to an independent translation of the propaganda poster provided to the Free Beacon.

There will be a “$100,000 dollar prize for the person who destroys the illegal American embassy in Jerusalem,” the poster states…”

Reports Obama sent an email on Hillary’s private server to the Student Justice Movement asking if the $100,000 would be paid in cash remain unconfirmed.

Here’s One Global Warming Study Nobody Wants You To See

A new study published in a peer-reviewed journal finds that climate models exaggerate the global warming from CO2 emissions by as much as 45%. If these findings hold true, it’s huge news. No wonder the mainstream press is ignoring it.

In the study, authors Nic Lewis and Judith Curry looked at actual temperature records and compared them with climate change computer models. What they found is that the planet has shown itself to be far less sensitive to increases in CO2 than the climate models say. As a result, they say, the planet will warm less than the models predict, even if we continue pumping CO2 into the atmosphere.

As Lewis explains: “Our results imply that, for any future emissions scenario, future warming is likely to be substantially lower than the central computer model-simulated level projected by the (United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change), and highly unlikely to exceed that level.

How much lower? Lewis and Curry say that their findings show temperature increases will be 30%-45% lower than the climate models say…The planet will warm from human activity, but not nearly enough to cause the sort of end-of-the-world calamities we keep hearing about. In fact, the resulting warming would be below the target set at the Paris agreement…”

Oops!!!

Which brings us, appropriately enough, to The Lighter Side:

Finally, we’ll call it a day with a cross between the Sports Section and another titillating tale torn from the pages of The Crime Blotter:

PGA golfer Lucas Glover’s wife, Krista, arrested for allegedly attacking him, and his mother

“The wife of former U.S. Open champion Lucas Glover is facing a domestic violence charge stemming from a reported fight earlier this month with the golfer — and his mother. According to a police report, Glover and his wife, Krista, got into some sort of altercation after the third round of The Players Championship in Florida, where Glover shot 78.

Lucas told deputies how “when he plays a bad round of golf, Krista proceeds to start an altercation with him and telling him how he is a loser and a p—y, how he needs to fire everyone, and how he’d better win or her and the kids would leave him and he would never see the kids again,” the police report read, according to The Daily Mail.

The report said that when his mother, Hershey Glover, tried to intervene, Krista Glover started attacking her. The arresting officer reportedly noticed cuts and blood on the arms and clothing of Glover’s mother. Hershey Glover also told the deputy she had been hit in the chest.

According to the report, Glover’s wife fought against being put into the back seat of a patrol car and damaged the door by repeatedly kicking it. “Wait till the tour (PGA) hears about this,” she yelled, according to the report cited in The Mail. You will lose your job. This is why cops get shot in the face. Wait till I talk with the judge, you will be f—ing fired over this.”

Glover confirmed on Twitter there was an altercation. “Everyone is fine,” Glover said. “Regrettably, although Krista was charged, we are comfortable that the judicial system is able to address what actually happened and Krista will be cleared in this private matter.”…”

Dude, wake up and smell the divorce settlement; she’s alimony waiting to happen.  If TLJ beat us about the head and shoulders after every bad round we carded, we’d permanently sport the appearance of having gone three rounds with Floyd Mayweather.
