Susan Rice says Trump-Putin meeting a ‘historic mistake

This from the serial liar who urged Bill Clinton to reject a Sudanese offer to surrender Osama bin Laden, repeatedly tried to sell Benghazi as a spontaneous demonstration inspired by an obscure video, called Bowe Bergdahl a hero and backed the Iran deal.

Speaking of serial liars vomiting unwanted input, the disgraced former director of the FBI continues conveying election advice:

Comey warns Democrats: ‘Don’t lose your minds’ and vote for socialists

Two thoughts come to mind: first,…

Second, pleading with Dimocratic voters not to lose their minds by voting for a Socialist after twice electing The Obamao is little like suggesting the Titanic carry more lifeboats after she’d sunk and the Carpathia was picking up the survivors .

Now, here’s The Gouge!

Our Country is Insane

I am by nature an optimist, but it is hard to maintain a positive attitude in the face of the rampant insanity that has seized control over our national life. When I get time, I am going to write about the ritual defenestration of Papa John’s pizza company, one of the more shocking news stories of recent months, in my opinion. For now, here is a more manageable, and perhaps even more depressing story about a bakery in Portland, Oregon:

Two employees of a bakery in Northeast Portland were fired earlier this month for denying a black woman service because the business had closed.

Just let that sink in for a moment. It gets worse.

“Back To Eden Bakery” released several public apologies and statements following the incident, before letting the employees go. In one Facebook post, the bakery’s co-owner wrote, “We are doing business in a gentrified neighborhood in a racist city within a racist state of a racist country.”

So part of the problem is that whoever owns the bakery is a nut. But what happened is utterly indefensible:

In one statement, “Back To Eden Bakery” says that according to its own surveillance video, a black woman named “Lillian”, who is well known in the area as a “professional equity activist”, entered at 9:06 p.m., after the bakery’s closing time. Employees had also turned off the “Open” sign, but several customers (all white) who had already ordered were still inside. Two other white women who went to the bakery two minutes before “Lillian”, were also informed that the business was closed for the night.

The bakery says “Lillian” left the store briefly and began recording video.

The bakery’s statement says that even though it does not consider the employees to be racist and that they were following the business’s protocol of closing at 9 p.m., they were fired because “sometimes impact outweighs intent.”

Well, all right then! Apparently all businesses in America must have flexible closing times, depending on the skin color of the person who tries to enter business hours.

This whole incident was a classic setup(Like the Philly Starbucks.)

Green started live streaming on Facebook from outside the bakery….“I’m going to put this on Facebook and I’m going to blast their ass,” Green says. “They can live that life but they’re about to get all blasted on Facebook.” Later, from home, Green made another video. “I want to tell you about a disturbing, heart wrenching experience I had,” she says.

The disturbing, heart-wrenching experience was that she showed up at a bakery after it had closed for the evening. Call me old-fashioned, but I think the more disturbing, heart-wrenching experience fell to the two young women who were fired for no reason. The bakery’s owner wrote on Facebook:

In this situation it doesn’t really matter that the two staff members working are not themselves racist because the call they made to deny Lillian service caused her to feel like she had been discriminated against. Sometimes impact outweighs intent and when that happens people do need to be held accountable. Since both Lillian and the clamoring public were demanding that these staff members be fired that it is what we did putting these two young women out of work.

So a “clamoring public” demanded that these innocent young women be fired, and the owner of the business happily obliged. Utterly sickening. Sure, you can say it happened in Portland. (“It’s Chinatown, Jake.”) But this kind of insanity has taken root all across the country. We are in a fight for our lives.

Thus is fact eclipsed by feeling, and the danger of social media highlighted.  Nowhere in her version of events does Lillian Green mention the two White women who were denied service immediately prior to HER entering the bakery; nor were the owners the least bit concerned about ignoring this essential truth.  Progressives are sowing the wind, and mob rule is the inevitable whirlwind they’ll reap.

This story begs the question what proper Portland Progressives will do when the likes of Lillian and the clamoring public start demanding the politically-incorrect lose more…

…than their jobs?!?

Ohio restaurant owner cancels Sunday church discount after outrage from secular organization

“…The owners of the Starters Cafe in Cheviot, Ohio, offered a 10-percent discount to those who presented that morning’s church bulletin at Sunday brunchWatson said there are at least seven churches within a mile of the restaurant and felt this would be an easy way to get more people in the door…Watson, who opened the restaurant the first week of June, said the response was positive – at first.

“Nobody has said a word to me in any way, shape or form. So, as far as you know, thinking that that was any type of discriminatory act or anything offensive to anybody seemed completely absurd to me,” Watson said.

Then Watson said he received a negative Yelp review from a woman regarding the promotion, and a letter from the Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF) threatening legal action. (On what grounds?!?) The FFRF is a member of the Secular Coalition of America and bills itself as a protector of “the constitutional principle of the separation of church and state.” “I realized there may actually be legal repercussions for this. So, in the end, I ultimately (ended up) recanting the offer and also issuing an apology to the lady,” Watson said to WKRC…”

We don’t know what’s worse: an atheist group objecting to a restaurant’s Sunday promotion, or an owner AND HIS ATTORNEY so ignorant of the Constitution and the law they took the threat of a lawsuit seriously…let alone apologized to one whacko who probably never frequented the establishment.

Next up, a commentary which reveals the mindless madness gripping much of America isn’t confined to The Left:

Max Boot: I Miss Obama And Would Take Him Back In A Nanosecond

How I miss Barack Obama.

And I say that as someone who worked to defeat him: I was a foreign policy adviser to John McCain in 2008 and to Mitt Romney in 2012. I criticized Obama’s “lead from behind” foreign policy that resulted in a premature pullout from Iraq and a failure to stop the slaughter in Syria. I thought he was too weak on Iran and too tough on Israel. (He was!) I feared that Obamacare would be too costly. (It is!) I fumed that he was too professorial and too indecisive. (Rather he was an incredibly single-minded Socialist!) I was left cold by his arrogance and his cult of personality. (So what’s changed?!?)

Now I would take Obama back in a nanosecond. His presidency appears to be a lost golden age when reason and morality reigned. All of his faults, real as they were, fade into insignificance compared with the crippling defects of his successor. And his strengths — seriousness, dignity, intellect, probity, dedication to ideals larger than self — shine all the more clearly in retrospect…”

In response, the creator of this meme offers one explanation for Boot’s descent into insanity:

It’s almost as if Max and his fellow Never Trumpers live in some alternate reality where Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh don’t exist, in which innumerable federal regulations weren’t rolled back.

And while it’s one thing to decry the many and varied shortcomings of The Donald, it takes an incredibly obtuse and revisionist view of The Dear Misleader’s record to ignore his racial divisiveness, rule by executive order and complete corruption of the Executive Branch and federal bureaucracy…or someone utterly unhinged by hatred for Trump.

The Unpredictable Madness of Chicago

“Last Saturday, Chicago police approached a man on the city’s south side with body cameras recording.   For police in any city, the encounter was perhaps a classic attempt at a Terry street stop – one where police have reasonable suspicion of a weapon, one where police want to conduct a brief stop and defensively “pat down” a suspect.  But as police well know, Supreme Court decisions tend to guide only one side during police encounters; they have little to no control over the irresponsible, reckless, or criminal actions of the people police are approaching.

And, from the police body camera that was quickly released by Chicago P.D. in the wake of angry street protests on Saturday night and again on Sunday, reckless or criminal actions by the subject of that stop, Harith Augustus, were the proximate cause of his being shot and killed by police within seconds of the encounter.

In the body camera video, Augustus did just what illegal gun possessors like him have, time and again, in Chicago and across the countrythey pull away from police, they run, and they reach for the weapon. (As evidenced by our On The Lighter Side video, accessible through link #4 immediately below our Quote of the Day at the top of the page.) These are precisely the dangerous actions that result in people being shot and killed by police.  And, despite the ignorant “outrage” of the protesters (Note how, just as in the Portland bakery non-event and the “Gentle Giant” myth, outrage born of ignorance is the common factor.), the police actions appear to be well within the law.

Watch the video and see how quickly the risk spikes.  Within nine seconds, Augustus pulls his hands away from the officers as they try to control him.  Just a second later he has spun away and backs into a patrol car parked on the curb.   With his shirt pulled up, the holstered pistol is clearly exposed, as is a magazine on his left side.  As Augustus turns again and starts to run, his right hand goes toward the gun and police open fire.  Within about 20 seconds from the start, the entire engagement, one that could have concluded in a far different way, is essentially over.  But its aftermath is just beginning.

In data collected by The Washington Post for 2016, of 963 people killed by police that year, only 51 were unarmed; only 19 were unarmed blacks.  If you consider that police have an estimated 40,000,000 face-to-face encounters with citizens each year, your chances of being killed by police while simply “going about your business” is miniscule.

The violent protests over the self-induced killing of Harith Augustus is wasted, misdirected anger by those who chose to participate.

Ironically, there were no reported violent protests when a 4-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy were shot on the city’s Northwest side in February.  And there were no reported violent protests after 16-year-old Jaheim Wilson and a 13-year-old friend were shot, Wilson fatally, in Austin in April.   Or when a 4-year-old girl was shot as she sat on a porch on the South Side with her parents in May.

In a city that is host to unthinkable citizen-on-citizen violence on an industrial scale, just four killings out of 262 this year (1.5%) involved police gunfire.   And, yet again, based on the body camera video released by Chicago Police on Sunday, the most recent incident preliminarily suggests police acted professionally, responsibly, and quite lawfully.  So the story there isn’t one of police excess but more accurately one of police restraint.   If only the citizens could see it that way.

Not a chance: the entire racial grievance industry, nursed to its current imposing proportions by The Great Divider himself…the object of Max Boot’s inexplicable nostalgia…depends upon the continued demonization of law enforcement.

Frankly, given the Windy City’s history of Black-on-Black gun violence, Hosko should have entitled his commentary The All-Too-Predictable Madness of Chicago.

And it’s not as if the likes of Harith Augustus haven’t been provided a primer for interacting with the agents of local law enforcement:

ABC Protects Verbally Abusive Host

Several weeks ago, ABC made a major public spectacle offiring Roseanne Barr for posting an offensive tweet about former Obama White House Senior Advisor Valerie Jarrett. Within hours of the tweet, Barr was removed from her successful show. Of course, on the program, Barr portrayed a Trump supporting middle class woman spouting traditional American values. Her show found a huge viewing audience because it was not the usual mix of a leftist agenda with politically correct dialogue. Even though she apologized, ABC had no qualms about removing Barr, and investigating the possibility of continuing the show without Roseanne.

The network did not show the same sense of outrage on Thursday when Whoopi Goldberg, the co-host of their daily talk program The View, verbally abused Fox News TV host Judge Jeanine Pirro both during and after the show.

The Judge was invited on the show to promote her new book, but it soon degenerated into a shouting match with Goldberg, who became upset when Pirro accused her of having “Trump Derangement Syndrome.”

…Instead of admitting her bias, Goldberg attacked the President, claiming “I have never seen anybody whip up such hate” as Donald Trump. In response, Pirro defended the President and noted “You know what’s horrible? When people who shouldn’t be here end up murdering the children of American citizens!” This was too much for Goldberg, who fired back, “What is horrible is when the president of the United States whips up people to beat the hell out of people … Say goodbye. I’m done!”

After she left the set and attempted to exit the building, Goldberg started yelling at the Judge again, “literally spitting” at her. She fumed, “F**k you, Get the F**k out of this building.”

Clearly, ABC should have immediately fired Goldberg for her abusive conduct. (At least based upon the Roseanne standard.)  Even Goldberg realized that she acted inappropriately. She apologized to the audience in the next segment, “You saw me do something I very rarely do. I very rarely lose my cool and I’m not proud of it. I don’t like it. But I also don’t like being accused of being hysterical because that is one of the things I try not to be on this show.”…”

Like Captain Renault, we’re…

Were Whoopi Goldberg and we the last two people on the planet, the human race would be facing imminent extinction.

Which brings us, appropriately enough, to The Lighter Side:

Finally, we’ll call it a day with one more titillating tale torn from the pages of The Crime Blotter, and a what should have been a non-story out of San Francisco, hardly a bastion of hard-core racism:

San Francisco business owner claims cops accused him of breaking into his own store because he’s black

“Four cops just hopped out on me guns almost drawn took my ID at my own store,” Stevenson wrote on Instagram. This racist thing is out of control but it won’t stop me!” The store’s security alarm was going off, Stevenson told KNTV, and he reportedly asked the officers if that’s why they were at his store, noting he was on the phone with the security company.

Stevenson said the officers weren’t there because the alarm went off, but rather accused him of breaking in. He alleged police asked to see his hands, which were in his pockets, and asked him to prove he owned the store.

“I said, ‘Yeah absolutely, here is my key,’” Stevenson told the news station. “Took my key out, opened my door, closed my door. ‘Are we ok? Are we good to go?’ He said, ‘No, can I see your ID?’”…”

Where to begin?!?  The reporting in this story SUCKS, as it allows Mr. Stevenson to repeatedly offers fact not in evidence, as well as failing to refute the obvious contradictions in his version of the facts.

Sorry, but if the police respond to a 911 report of a possible burglary and arrive to find someone outside the building as the security system is sounding, they’re going to do a little more than wish the individual, regardless of color, “Have a good day”.

Unless, of course, as Max Boot’s hero suggested…

Which they did NOT!
