It’s Monday, August 13th, 2018…but before we begin, having initially described Richard Russel’s unauthorized use of a Horizon Air Q400 on Friday as “very unusual”, NTSB official Debra Eckrote went on to offer this classic bit of bureaucratic babble: “It’s not like we get this every day,” she said.

Noooo,…really?!?  Which makes Russel’s fatal flight no different than any other man-made catastrophe, unintentional

…or otherwise!

Since we’re on the subject of those whose purported ethnicity determines the amount of adulation accorded them by the Press, is the MSM’s blatant hyping of Tiger not winning reminding anyone else of the Dimocrats’ obnoxious celebration…

…of coming in second in 8 out of the last 9 special elections?!?

In all seriousness, when Brooks Koepka becomes only the 5th player in history to win both the U.S. Open and PGA in the same year, and CBS Sports names Wood’s birdie putt for what was at the time a tie for 2nd place the shot of the tournament, something is dreadfully wrong.  “He knew he was making history“.  No, Jack Nicklaus made history; Tiger is history!  And the sooner he’s gone the better.  Nothing against him…just the MSM’s politically-correct promotion of him above any other.

Now, here’s The Gouge!

First up, writing at American Greatness, Victor Davis Hanson recounts…

The Ancient War Between the Press and the President

“…Is this war between Trump and the media unprecedented?

Not quite.

So far, Trump’s attacks are verbal, and subject to public debate. Unlike his predecessors, he has not yet secretly weaponized the government to spy on and harass journalists he doesn’t like.

Reporters loved Barack Obama. But his Justice Department improperly and secretly surveilled Associated Press reporters and monitored the phone calls and emails of Fox News reporter James Rosen.

President John Adams in 1798 pushed through Sedition Act, barring journalistic criticism of the government.

Woodrow Wilson systematically had reports censored that he felt were critical of his wartime administration. His state-run propaganda machine, the “Committee on Public Information,” had a creepy French Revolutionary ring to it.

Liberal icon Franklin D. Roosevelt makes Trump’s bluster about the media look relatively amateurish. FDR used the Federal Communications Commission to stifle critical news. Roosevelt’s congressional allies tried to push through a “libel bill” to criminalize hostile reporting. At a press conference in the middle of World War II, Roosevelt once handed a reporter a Nazi Iron Cross and told him that another journalist whom FDR hated had earned it.

John F. Kennedy had the CIA wiretap two Washington reporters.

There is no doubt that Trump should ease off his blanket condemnations of the journalists and their profession. But for their part, reporters have to stop creating news where there is none. And they should refrain from personal attacks on the president and his family, and from stereotyping Trump supporters as garbage.

In the meantime, we should remember that the real danger to a free press is not loud public bluster from a perceived hostile president. More often, First Amendment threats come from the quiet weaponization of the government against journalists — which, ironically, is sometimes orchestrated by presidents who are beloved press idols.

Is it any wonder The Left prefers an American electorate utterly ignorant of history?!?

And here’s a plan Satan himself would be proud to promote…

Pro-gay church plans to build worship space/brewery, donate profits to Planned Parenthood

…because he undoubtedly did!  Rumors the “church” plans to incorporate a massage parlor, casino and all-you-can-eat buffet into the design to promote as many of the Seven Deadly Sins as possible could not be confirmed at press time.

And in the Environmental Moment, this revelation from the WSJ will shock no one with even a passing familiarity of Liberals’ love affair with faulty facts:

The Phony Numbers Behind California’s Solar Mandate

A state-hired consultant lowballed the costs and assumed massive subsidies in estimating benefits.

California’s energy regulators effectively cooked the books to justify their recent command that all homes built in the Golden State after 2020 be equipped with solar panels. Far from a boon to homeowners, the costs to builders and home buyers will likely far exceed the benefits to the state.

The California Energy Commission, which approved the rule as part of new energy-efficiency regulations, didn’t conduct an objective, independent investigation of the policy’s effects. Instead it relied on economic analysis from the consultancy that proposed the policy, Energy and Environmental Economics Inc. Its study concluded that home buyers get a 100% investment return—paying $40 more in monthly mortgage costs but saving $80 a month on electricity. If it’s such a good deal, why aren’t home buyers clamoring for more panels already? Most new homes aren’t built with solar panels today, even though the state is saturated by solar marketing.

Though the solar mandate is unlikely to deliver huge savings to consumers, it certainly will raise the price of new and old homes. This couldn’t come at a worse time: Rising housing costs are putting the dream of homeownership further out of reach of low- and middle-income Californians. Sacramento politicians accuse the Trump administration of ignoring science and forgoing expert, independent review in pursuing its environmental and energy agenda. They should look in the mirror.

Reports Milo Cress, a.k.a. Straw Boy…

…worked the numbers behind the once-Golden State’s solar panel fiasco remain unconfirmed.  Then again, the deliberately deceptive figures might as well have been the work of other Dimocratic icons such as Clock Boy…

…the architects who formulated and promoted Obamacare…

…the clowns who claimed economic justification for California’s bullet train boondoggle…

…or those behind any and every other Progressive policy which not only hasn’t worked as advertised, but hasn’t worked at all.

Which brings us, appropriately enough, to The Lighter Side:

Finally, we’ll call it a day with two sordid stories straight from the pages of The Crime Blotter.  Exhibit “A” offers further confirmation America is reaping the whirlwind Progressives sowed long ago:

Woman gives birth while overdosing on heroin in Burger King bathroom

“…Police initially responded to reports of a man who had passed out in a vehicle and that a woman, who was with him, had overdosed, according to WSYX. Officers said they found 26-year-old Zachary Frey passed out behind the wheel of a running vehicle and Elizabeth D. Sanders, also 26, sitting on the toilet in the women’s restroom, a suspected ball of heroin on the floor beside her.

Sanders told officers she thought she had suffered a miscarriage, police said.  However, when the officer looked inside the toilet, there was an infant lying face up, according to the Chillicothe Gazette.  The officer reportedly told Sanders to stand up, causing the child to roll face down into the water. The medic grabbed the newborn, who was still breathing, and the baby was taken to the hospital. Chillicothe Police Capt. Larry Bamfield told the paper the boy is expected to be “OK,” but it’s not clear what plans are in place for the child’s custody…”

Two thoughts come to mind: first, chalk up another win for Liberal social engineering.  Second, we won’t won’t hold our breath waiting for The Left’s outrage at this infant being separated from her mother.

Then there’s Exhibit “B”, as an…

Indiana man accused of raping, murdering, eating dead ex-girlfriend is deemed competent for trial

“…Prosecutors have previously said they will seek the death penalty for Blanton’s killing. Before his arrest in 2015, Oberhansley was free on parole for a previous killing when he was a teenager…”

Free on parole; what a surprise!  At least Willie Horton didn’t eat his victim after he raped her.
