“…What put me in this frame of mind is the latest debate over abortion (which I write about here). I have complicated views on abortion that don’t line up perfectly with most pro-lifers. But my views on infanticide are not complicated. It’s murder. And until very recently, it was normal. “Infanticide has been practiced on every continent and by people on every level of cultural complexity, from hunter-gatherers to high civilizations, including our own ancestors. Rather than beingan exception, then, it has been the rule,” writes anthropologist Laila Williamson.
I am perfectly willing to concede that the number of women who seek to “abort” fully viable, born, or near-born babies is small as a statistical matter. But so what? It’s not zero.(If it were, Kermit Gosnell wouldn’t be in jail.) The number of truly innocent people put to death via capital punishment is smaller. That doesn’t make killing an innocent person any less outrageous. Barbara Boxer famously suggested that it’s not a baby until youbring it home from the hospital. That is grotesque. It’s like a magical incantation that rewinds the clock of human progress by millennia, made no less barbaric because it was said on the Senate floor. Indeed, saying it on the Senate floor made it more barbaric. When barbarians hacked and cleaved one another in the Black Forest, their barbarism seems natural. When they sacked Rome, the backdrop sets off the barbarism.
When we talk about capital punishment, opponents and supporters alike pay tribute to the importance of safeguards and due process. When supporters of abortion on demand talk about abortion, they make it sound like any talk of safeguards is an outrage and any outrage over the murder of a baby is religious extremism…“

Northam’s changing his story faster than Hillary deleted her emails. Hells bells, if he comes up with two or three more explanations, he’ll be the Jake Blues…
…of Virginia politics. Meanwhile, whatever happens, he stays, goes or gets impeached, one thing’s certain:
His days in politics are numbered. And frankly, we feel completely unfairly.
Here’s the juice: the politically-correct victimization creature The Left has created must be fed, even if the source of its sustenance is its own. Though we strongly doubt the beast would be nearly as hungry were an even more radical Progressive not waiting to take Northam’s place.
“I‘m not a Democrat—in case you haven’t noticed—but Howard Schultz is. And Schultz isn’t one of those Blue Dog, Southern or Midwestern, conservative Democrats either. He’s from Seattle, holds liberal positions on, as far as I can tell, every issue, and has donated gobs of money to the Democratic Party and to the last two Democratic presidents. But Schultz is also a democratic capitalist who attributes his phenomenal success—his fortune from Starbucks is around $3 billion—at least in part to America’s culture of entrepreneurial risk-taking, minimal government interference in commerce, individual responsibility, and rule of law. He worries that the Democratic Party, radicalized by the presidency of Donald Trump, is in the process of abandoning support for the very aspects of American life that made his life possible. “Both parties are consistently not doing what’s necessary on behalf of the American people and are engaged, every single day, in revenge politics,” Schultz told 60 Minutes last Sunday. The Democrats then began proving his point for him…”
Speaking of Liberals who are clearly losing it, the Red Queen is leading the pack, and in more than one sense of the term:
Since we’re on the subject of the Progressive poster child’s barbaric support for unrestricted infanticide, no coverage would be complete without the wit and wisdom of the great Stilton Jarlsberg:
