It’s Wednesday, August 14th, 2019…but before we begin, we present yet another example of Progressive hypocrisy personified, courtesy today of the youngest and dumbest Cuomo, which is, courtesy of the great Stilton Jarlsberg…

sayin’ something:

Just to refresh your memory, as Bill Meisen reminded us, here’s what Fredo had to say about the Covington Kids:

During his “closing argument” segment, Cuomo accused the group of teenagers of being “unduly provocative” and questioned the whereabouts of the chaperones and why they were wearing MAGA hats. He then singled out Nick Sandmann, who he said made a choice to get into a “standoff” with Phillips.

“That was not a good choice. Was it legal? Sure. That’s not my test and it shouldn’t be the test. Here’s mine: if that were my son, who happens to go to a great Catholic school, would I like what he did? If I were there, would I have allowed the kids to be in that situation? No and no. There was a disrespect at play that doesn’t work for me in these circumstances,” Cuomo said…”

Did he follow his own advice, let alone pass his own test?

There you have Progressive morals and ethics in a nutshell: they’re purely situational, and never binding upon themselves

More importantly, Cuomo delivered his profanity-laced tirade in front of his wife and 9-year-old daughter.  Way to set an example…

We found it particularly telling, again as Mr. Meisen noted, Cuomo had to tell the guy precisely “who he was”: “I’m an anchor at CNN!”  Yeah, Fredo, you’re an anchor at CNN

…which is likely why the guy didn’t know who or what you were!

It should also be noted Cuomo had no problem with guests on his show using the n-word in reference to The Donald, nor does the threat posed by a single individual referring to you as “Fredo” in a public setting remotely approach that of a late-night mob…

…specifically threatening physical harm.  Ben Shapiro put it best:

And as G. Trevor so insightfully observed, this yet another example of The Left taking a word, in this case a proper noun, unrelated to racism and declaring it an ethnic slur.  Fredo was the cowardly, unintelligent, underachieving scion of notable father, which is exactly what Chris Cuomo happens to be.

Seriously, like Chelsea Clinton before him, can anyone imagine Cuomo landing a CNN gig if his name was Chris Smith and his father had been a pipefitter in Poughkeepsie?!?

Still, two things are certain: (1) for a group which supposedly eschews violence, The Left certainly has no problem threatening same whenever it suits them; and (2) Chris will henceforth be universally referred to as “Fredo”.

So, congratulations, Fredo…

Now, here’s The Gouge!

First up…

Here’s another presentation of the same event with a slightly different accent:

At the outset, let’s get a couple of facts straight which bear directly on the subject at hand: (1) Epstein had served time before, so it’s not like he was crawling the walls because he was locked up for the first time; and (2) contrary to his “sworn” statement denying ever having travelled on the Lolita Express to the Island of Sin, the passenger manifests from Epstein’s private pedophile transport lists Clinton as a passenger 27 times, and sans Secret Service escort on multiple occasion!!!

But here’s the juice: the real takeaway from Epstein’s assisted-suicide…above and beyond the reasonable doubt created by his 13-month sentence for acts of depravity which would have had us behind bars for life, the absolution granted Hillary for her private email server or the lack of any serious consequence for Obama’s DOJ‘s attempt to overturn the results of a lawful presidential election…is confirmation of the existence of a two-tiered system of justice within the United States.

One for them

…and one for The Deplorables…i.e., the rest of us…which includes all those who think their Liberal bonafides ensure their enshrinement in the coming Socialist Nirvana.

Unfortunately, truth is, as Yeats wrote, the outcome is inevitable:

Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world..”

Trump’s decision to enforce rules that deny green cards to the welfare-dependant has Dems fired up

In an effort to ensure that immigration serves America’s interests, rather than being a detriment, the Trump administration announced a new rule that would enforce an existing policy, which may deny green cards for immigrants who use public benefits.

As expected, the Democrat Party and their media allies, who use immigration as a wedge issue to stir anger in voters, are having a fit.

Acting Director of United States Citizenship and Immigration Services Ken Cuccinelli said on Monday in a press conference that consideration for green cards and residency in the United States will now be determined based on a person’s potential to be either self-sufficient or a “public charge,” which Cuccinelli described as “an individual who receives one or more public benefits.”

“Public charge is now defined in a way that ensures the law is meaningfully enforced,” he said. Cuccinelli added, “President Trump’s administration is reinforcing the ideals of self-sufficiency and personal responsibility.”

Imagine that…”

No wonder Progressives are so…

…fired up!!!

Speaking of what fires up The Left, writing at The Hill, Victor Davis Hanson asks and answers the question…

Why target Tucker Carlson? It’s part of the left’s war on the right

“…Why is Carlson then targeted and especially singled out among conservative commentators?

I think there are additional force multipliers to the furor against him.

His show enjoys spectacular ratings. Once signature anchorman Bill O’Reilly left Fox, few imagined that Carlson or anyone else could resurrect O’Reilly’s time-slot audience. Carlson did. And it bothers the left that his MSNBC and CNN competitors do not resonate with the public to the same degree. That he brings in guests with opposite opinions and debates them is not seen in progressive circles as anything to be emulated — especially when leftist guests are not shy in expressing often extreme views.

Second, Tucker is an idiosyncratic, not an orthodox, conservative. He has voiced concern over the role of the Koch brothers and support for the use of tariffs to force China to trade reciprocally and fairly. The Never Trump movement especially dislikes Carlson’s views.

Lots of other Republicans do not appreciate his criticism of optional military engagements or the ubiquitous role of the U.S. military abroad. Often, his on-air conservative guests are as critical and as criticized as liberal ones.

Nor is his support for much of Trump’s populist economic agenda consistent with doctrinaire free-market economics. And the net result is that Carlson’s leftist opponents rightly believe he is not always supported by conservatives and thus can be isolated as a heretic and outlander.

Passions certainly are cresting, but the hatred is still not really proportional.

Conservatives are not swarming the homes of liberal anchors or congressional leaders.

Republicans in the House are not tweeting out the names and employers of those who donate to Biden or Sen. Kamala Harris. Conservatives are not organizing boycotts of companies whose board members support Warren.

Hollywood is not releasing new movies that portray conservatives hunting down and killing liberal elites, and conservative celebrities are not voicing creative ways of shooting, stabbing or decapitating liberal political figures.

Republican leaders are not alleging that the 2017 shooting of Rep. Steve Scalise (R-La.) and the recent tragedy in Dayton are the direct results of the polarizing and often shrill rhetoric of Sanders and Warren.

And progressive hosts on the major networks and cable news channels are not targeted for boycotts and firings for their often blunt views, as is now once again the case with Tucker Carlson.

If all’s fair in love and war, the same holds true for Progressive politics, ‘cuz it’s truly…

One wonders when the likes of George Will, Bill Krystal, Jonah Goldberg and Max Boot will come to realize it.

Moving on, as Bill Meisen informed us, when he wasn’t actively engaging his gay base…

…Pete Buttgag took the opportunity to inadvisably ignore the cardinal rule of trial lawyers: never ask a question the answer to which you don’t already know:

The Democrat was campaigning at the Iowa State Fair when a woman approached him and said she met Kennedy in 1968, according to a tweet from a CNN producer.

“I shook Robert Kennedy’s hand in 1968,” the woman told him.

Buttigieg responded: “So you’re good luck?”

“Not really— he was shot a month later,” the woman said…”

Democratic Party wrongheaded climate alarmism – time to revisit “The stupid party

The so-called “debates” of the Democratic Party Presidential hopefuls have allowed these individuals to display their extraordinary lack of knowledge and colossal ignorance of the world’s energy, emissions and climate realities.

The global energy, emissions and climate alarmist deceptive and dishonest propaganda claims this Presidential election cycle compared to the last such cycle in 2015-2017 can be properly characterized as “it’s worse than we thought” to borrow a much overused phrase from the climate alarmism community.

The inane energy and emissions concepts contained in the Green New Deal along with other related climate alarmist antics supporting this absurdly costly, ineffective and unnecessary scheme are totally loony.

During the prior Presidential election cycle which commenced in 2015 Dr. Judith Curry wrote an excellent article highlighting the inappropriate politicalization of climate change issues by “alarmist in chief” President Obama. She laid out her criticisms of the anti-science approach employed by the Democrats in addressing climate issues instead of that Party undertaking a science-based discussion.

Dr. Curry’s article was appropriately titled “The stupid party”

The Democratic Party and its media propaganda interpreters are dishonestly concealing critically important energy, emissions and climate information from the American public including:

Failure (Editor’s note: we’d term these not as failures, but deliberate deceptions!) to acknowledge that climate models grossly exaggerate and overstate the impact of atmospheric CO2 levels on global temperatures thus demonstrating that these models are hopelessly flawed.

Failure to utilize realistic assumptions regarding future economic impacts of climate change and instead utilizing worst case outlier presumptions that are built upon nothing but alarmist driven speculation and conjecture in an effort to drive up supposedly related climate change costs to unrealistic levels.

Failure to acknowledge and deliberately concealing the fact that the world’s developing nations have assumed complete control of existing and future global energy use and emissions outcomes.

Failure to acknowledge and deliberately concealing the fact that the U.S. and EU cannot change the course of future global energy use and emissions growth – the world’s developing nations exclusively determine that future global energy use and emissions will continue to rise.

Failure to acknowledge that the Paris Agreement has already demonstrated its complete inability to serve any meaningful purpose in addressing future global energy use or emissions – the Agreement contains no emission reduction commitments from the developing nations.

Failure to acknowledge that the EU abandoned its once proudly and loudly hyped politically driven goal of being committed to carbon neutrality by 2050.

Failure to acknowledge that the Green New Deal is a massively costly and useless politically contrived proposal which has been rendered irrelevant because the world’s energy and emissions dominant developing nations have committed to future fossil energy use and emissions growth.

Failure to acknowledge that the Green New Deal requirement of 100% renewable energy electricity leading to zero emissions is technically and fatally flawed because it fails to address the need for backup fossil generation required due to the unreliability inherent in renewable operation.

Failure to utilize global data which clearly establishes that coastal sea level rise is not accelerating and that 30 year old alarmist claims regarding such acceleration are flawed.

Failure to utilize UN IPCC data, conclusions and findings that extreme weather is not driven by global warming CO2 emissions.

It’s up to WUWT readers to evaluate the conduct and climate policy utterances of the Democratic Party Presidential candidates and media manipulators and make their own determination as to which political party should be awarded the title of “The stupid party.”

To borrow a phrase from Fred Rogers, “Boys and girls, can you say, ‘Prevaricating Progressive poltroons’?!?  We knew you could!”

In a related item forwarded by Mark Foster, writing at the WSJ, the Manhattan Institute‘s Mark Mills reminds the EnviroNazis…

If You Want ‘Renewable Energy,’ Get Ready to Dig

Building one wind turbine requires 900 tons of steel, 2,500 tons of concrete and 45 tons of plastic.

Democrats dream of powering society entirely with wind and solar farms combined with massive batteries. Realizing this dream would require the biggest expansion in mining the world has seen and would produce huge quantities of waste.

Renewable energy” is a misnomer. Wind and solar machines and batteries are built from nonrenewable materials. And they wear out. Old equipment must be decommissioned, generating millions of tons of waste. The International Renewable Energy Agency calculates that solar goals for 2050 consistent with the Paris Accords will result in old-panel disposal constituting more than double the tonnage of all today’s global plastic waste. Consider some other sobering numbers:

A single electric-car battery weighs about 1,000 pounds. Fabricating one requires digging up, moving and processing more than 500,000 pounds of raw materials somewhere on the planet. The alternative? Use gasoline and extract one-tenth as much total tonnage to deliver the same number of vehicle-miles over the battery’s seven-year life.

When electricity comes from wind or solar machines, every unit of energy produced, or mile traveled, requires far more materials and land than fossil fuels. That physical reality is literally visible: A wind or solar farm stretching to the horizon can be replaced by a handful of gas-fired turbines, each no bigger than a tractor-trailer.

Building one wind turbine requires 900 tons of steel, 2,500 tons of concrete and 45 tons of nonrecyclable plastic. Solar power requires even more cement, steel and glass—not to mention other metals. Global silver and indium mining will jump 250% and 1,200% respectively over the next couple of decades to provide the materials necessary to build the number of solar panels, the International Energy Agency forecasts. World demand for rare-earth elements—which aren’t rare but are rarely mined in America—will rise 300% to 1,000% by 2050 to meet the Paris green goals. If electric vehicles replace conventional cars, demand for cobalt and lithium, will rise more than 20-fold. That doesn’t count batteries to back up wind and solar grids.

Last year a Dutch government-sponsored study concluded that the Netherlands’ green ambitions alone would consume a major share of global minerals. “Exponential growth in [global] renewable energy production capacity is not possible with present-day technologies and annual metal production,” it concluded…”

Yet another “thing that makes you go ‘Hmmmm'”…and causes Socialists to change the subject…or call you a “racist denier of settled science”!

Which brings us to The Lighter Side:

Then there’s this memorable meme from Mark Tapscott…

…along with these corkers from Balls Cotton:

Finally, we’ll call it a wrap, another tear-jerker of a story involving a big, bad airline and the fury of a customer scorned:

Children on American Airlines flight not fed, given medication during 13-hour delay, parents claim

Parents in Washington and Oregon are angry at American Airlines, claiming the airline did not notify them of a 13-hour delay on a flight from Charlotte, N.C., to Portland, Ore., that their children were on Friday.

Kristie Hoyt, a mother of one of the unaccompanied minors returning home from a summer camp for children with a genetic disorder called neurofibromatosis, claimed she had to contact the airline crew to find out what was happening with the flight – and that no one contacted her.

Hoyt said the children on the flight were not given dinner and were unable to take their medications, as they are required to take them with a meal. She also shared that some of the children did not have access to their medication, which was stored in a checked bag under the plane, KATU reported. (Sooo…whose fault was that; not to mention, can we assume those kids didn’t need dinner?!?

American Airlines told Fox News in a statement that the flight experienced a “mechanical delay that caused it to remain in Charlotte overnight.” The flight departed for Portland Saturday morning…”

Having been on the receiving end of airline ineptitude on a number of occasions, we readily acknowledge every carrier in the country has room for improvement.

However, we’ve had it up to here with whiny, overindulged adults who expect others to assume responsibility for tasks they themselves should be completing.  Far be it from us to tell Ms. Hoyt how to raise her children, but, sorry, if our kid had health issues which required regular medication, we’d be willing to bet Hillary’s a*s (which is a very large wager indeed!) we’d be on the flight with them, rather than consigning their care to the faceless representatives of a mammoth corporate bureaucracy.

Since this article raises so many questions, and we’ve such little time, we’ll limit ourself to three interrogatories:

(1). Did Ms. Hoyt really expect the cabin crew to ensure her child received their medication when flight attendants aren’t even allowed to hand out ibuprofen to adults with headaches?

(2). Did Ms. Hoyt ever bother to check the status of her child’s flight, or did she just show up at the airport and wait all night waiting for it to arrive?  Again, if we had an unaccompanied minor with a medical condition we’d at least be proactively checking for status updates on a regular basis.

(3). Given her evident unfamiliarity with the potential pitfalls of contemporary flying, we’re left wondering when was the last time Ms. Hoyt enjoyed the increasing volume and decreasing convenience of America’s commercial air transport system.

Wake up and smell the reality, you benighted, self-absorbed boob…and escort your own dang children!

Magoo
