It’s Friday, October 25th, 2019…but before we begin, like Jethro Bodine cipherin’, some things Stilton Jarlsberg wrote in his last entry at Stilton’s Place got us a thinkin’:

Great White Way

Right up front, we want to go on record as being very sincerely supportive of gay folks and gay marriage. But we can’t help commenting on the fact that Pete Buttigieg might benefit from a little more tailoring of the image he’s presenting on the campaign trail.

Although “Mayor Pete” is enjoying a nice rise in recent polls, an in-depth study of black voters in South Carolina showed that many of them found his sexual orientation to be problematic – enough so that most weren’t even considering voting for him.

Part of the problem, as expressed by those polled, is that they don’t mind Buttigieg being gay, but do have a problem with how vocal he is about it. So surely it isn’t helping matters when Buttigieg announces a contest in which the grand prize is a trip to San Francisco (more or less the gay mecca) to enjoy an evening of musical theater with his husband, Chasten.

We’re sure it will be an absolutely lovely evening, but still – isn’t the whole event just a little too “on the nose” for those voters who were already feeling uncomfortable? Why not make the grand prize a visit to Buttigieg’s actual home, South Bend, Indiana, where Chasten can take the lucky winners on a tour of all the positive things Mayor Pete has accomplished?

Oh, that’s right – he hasn’t actually done such a great job of being a small town Mayor. So maybe the fabulous distractions aren’t such a bad idea after all.

First, as usual, The Great Jarlsberg is dead on, balls-accurate in his conclusion.  This is PRECISELY why Pete’s publicizing his present perversion rather than promoting his past performance: he’s the prototypical counterproductive Progressive politician.

Second, while we fully understand and appreciate Stilt’s opening statement, we would phrase the same thought in a slightly different fashion: we view gays with the same love God showed us, in that, as Romans 5:8 records, “While we yet sinners, Christ died for us.”  We’re commanded to love the sinner, yet still hate the sin; the same as we hate Donald Trump’s adultery or our own innumerable transgressions.

Fact is, we don’t hate Pete Buttigieg because he’s gay; we simply despise the Progressive policies he peddles.

As for supporting gay marriage, we just don’t, as the Bible clearly states marriage is to be between a man and a woman.   Almost as importantly, unlike “gun control”, which has nothing to do with guns, but is all about control, “gay marriage” has nothing to do with either, and is rather only about control.

Here’s the juice: civil unions would have served to secure gay couples any legal rights available to their heterosexual counterparts, which would have been fine by us, and certainly served the purported purpose.  But legal recognition of gay unions isn’t what the radicals behind the gay marriage movement EVER ULTIMATELY WANTEDTHIS is their goal, or at least the first step towards it:

Beto threatens tax-exempt status of churches if they don’t support gay marriage

And if the last ten years have taught us anything, it’s what was in the past as an outlier in Progressive policies will rapidly become an integral plank…an unholy writ as it were…in future Progressive platforms.  Because, as King recognized in Platoon

Consider the dizzying speed with which Progressives (with a little help from Tricky Dick, Read My Lips and Dubya) have undermined America’s Judeo-Christian values and morals.  In just over 50 years, they popularized illegal drugs and extramarital sex, lost us a war, legalized the slaughter of the unborn, introduced millions of innocent Americans to the term of “Oral Office”, surrendered any legitimacy the Fourth Estate ever possessed, sacrificed the lives of 4 Americans to a mob and the sanctity of marriage to political expediency, institutionalized lying as a presidential prerogative and used the considerable power of the federal bureaucracy to overturn the results of a lawful election…all the while accusing the current occupant of the White House of crimes previously committed by prior Presidents, yet excused by those same accusers.

This is why we laugh…ironically enough…when bright, Conservative minds such as Jim Geraghty minimize the very real threat The Left poses not only to the Constitution and the Founders’ vision for their Republic, but the American way of life.

P.S.  And we very much like Jim Geraghty!

Now, here’s The Gouge!

Since we’re on the subject of Progressives seeking to overturn the Constitution, courtesy of Bill Meisen, as Campus Reform details…

UConn students ARRESTED for ‘ridiculing’ speech in viral video

Of one thing we’re certain: the Educated Idiots in this video weren’t raised in the same environment we were.

Or, as Mr. Meisen observed, “In what country did this happen?  I’m curious if rappers in Connecticut performing on stage will get the same treatment.  I won’t hold my breath.”

Massachusetts Bill Would Have Jailed People for Using the Word ‘Bitch

“On Tuesday, Massachusetts legislators considered a bill that would criminalize certain uses of the word “bitch” — making it punishable by up to six months in jail or a fine up to $200.

The bill, introduced a month ago by state Democratic representative Dan Hunt, states that “a person who uses the word ‘bitch’ directed at another person to accost, annoy, degrade or demean the other person shall be considered to be a disorderly person” and would be guilty of a criminal offense punishable by “a fine of not more than either $150 or $200, or jail time of up to six months.” The offense could be reported not only by the person being called a bitch, but also a third-party witness(No opportunity for abuse there!!!)

As many legal scholars have pointed out, the proposed law is blatantly unconstitutional

Basically, the consensus is clear that this would not — and could not — ever become law, but honestly, I still find myself disturbed by the fact that it was even discussed in the legislature in the first place. After all, this means that the public servants in Massachusetts actually have so little knowledge of the Constitution (which the taxpayers are paying them to protect) that they spent their (taxpayer-funded) time earnestly considering it.

A word to freedom-loving Americans…

The Dimocratic Establishment is out there

Most of my columns at National Review focus on PC culture, and sometimes, when I write about some idiotic, anti-free-speech idea presented by some idiotic, anti-free-speech student or professor, people will ask me why I wasted my time writing about it. After all, these critics allege, it was just a random opinion from some ultra-progressive fringe moron; it’s not like it has any real impact on society. (See our opening above!)

Unfortunately, news like this proves that to be false. According to Boston.com, this bill “reportedly came at the request of an unidentified constituent.” If people unconcerned about those who openly lobby against the First Amendment on the grounds that they don’t have any real influence or impact were correct, it would have stopped there. The request would have been ignored, written off as nothing more than the whack-a-doo view of some fringe-left uber-progressive who doesn’t understand the Constitution, and never discussed again.

But that’s not what happened.

It’s terrifying, but it’s true: A sincere proposal to criminalize a word was formally considered at the highest level of a state’s government. Someone was advocating for blatantly unconstitutional censorship not just in some classroom in Berkeley, Calif., but in an official capacity at a state’s capital.

The good news is, I truly believe that most people would disagree with this kind of law. I truly do believe that. (Unfortunately, we don’t!) At the same time, though, when we see something like this, we cannot say that the super-woke, censorship-happy aren’t having any influence. They are, and it’s up to us sane people to fight against this toxic, draconian line of thinking whenever we see it. After all, living in a country without freedom of speech as a check against government power would be more than just kind of a bitch.

Meanwhile, we’d suggest Eddie Murphy refrain from filming Trading Places II in Boston…

…or anywhere else in Massachusetts anytime soon.

Then there’s this from the Albuquerque Journal:

Lobos’ QB Jones suspended indefinitely, accused of indecent exposure

University of New Mexico quarterback Sheriron Jones has been accused of indecent exposure, an incident that reportedly occurred on campus Friday morning, the day the Lobos left for their game at Wyoming, according to a UNM police department report. UNM coach Bob Davie announced on Tuesday that Jones, a senior, had been suspended indefinitely from the team, but would not give the reason.

No warrant has been issued for Jones’ arrest, according to court records. Jones has been summoned to appear at Bernalillo County Metropolitan Court and enter a plea on Nov. 7 per a criminal complaint. Jones is accused of exposing his genitalia to a woman, who recognized Jones from “social media pictures that she had seen on mutual friends’ profiles,” according to the UNM PD report.

UNM Police Department Lt. Tim Stump would not comment on the incident, saying that it remains under investigation.

This piqued our curiosity, as normally star Division I football athletes, let alone a quarterback of decidedly dusky hue, were accorded the benefit of the doubt.  Not to mention the circumstances of the identification being somewhat suspect.

THEN we got to the end of the article…and the rest of the story:

Jones, 6-foot-3, 200 pounds, started seven games last year when the Lobos went 3-9. He began his college career at Tennessee, where he redshirted and did not see playing time before transferring to Mt. San Jacinto junior college in California. He started three games this season, all losses (Notre Dame, Colorado State, Wyoming). This season, he threw for 500 yards and two touchdowns with seven interceptions, completing 34 of his 76 passes (45%). He ran for 204 yards and three touchdowns.

i.e., he could be replacedwithout adversely impacting the team’s performance.  Thus this particular Negro was expendable.

Put another way, if he can’t win quick, you must prematurely convict!

And in the Follow-Up Segment, as we mentioned on Wednesday, the lies just keep on coming, accompanied by…

The Almost Unbelievable Claims of Bill Taylor, the U.S. Envoy to Ukraine

You’re going to hear a lot of furious reactions to the testimony of Bill Taylor, the acting U.S. ambassador to Ukraine*, to the House panel preparing articles of impeachment. Perhaps the most mind-boggling sentence in his prepared statement is this one, describing concern at the highest levels of government about aid not getting to Ukraine in July of this year: “My understanding was that the Secretaries of Defense and State, the CIA Director, and the National Security Advisor sought a joint meeting with the president to convince him to release the hold, but such a meeting was hard to schedule and the hold lasted well into September.”

Read that again. Are we honestly to believe that four of the highest-ranking cabinet officials with duties relating to national security couldn’t get a meeting with the commander-in-chief? What, was the president avoiding them?

This should not be an eternal, impenetrable mystery. Either secretary of defense Mark Esper, secretary of state Mike Pompeo, CIA director Gina Haspell, and former national-security adviser John Bolton will corroborate this account or they won’t. If they contradict it, then Taylor is offering a version of events that exaggerates the level of concern about Trump’s blocking the Ukraine aid. If they confirm it — and the President of the United States simply wouldn’t talk to four of his top officials about a decision about aid to an ally against the Russian military then we have a state of dysfunction at the highest level of our government that is positively nightmarish and that must be remedied immediately, by whatever constitutional methods are available…”

Yes, we are!!!  Or, as TLJ would say, whatever!

Next up, this just in from FOX News

“The Florida Senate on Wednesday voted to permanently oust suspended Broward Sheriff Scott Israel over his officers’ response to the mass shooting that killed 17 at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in 2018.

Parkland parents just learned the First Law of The Left: Progressive politics trumps the public good.

And in the Law of Inevitable Consequences, here’s a real shocker from FOX News:

California mountain climber falls after slipping on mountain

For the record, we’re not making light of the untimely demise of the climber, only the absurdity of the headline.

Which brings us, appropriately enough, to The Lighter Side:

Then there’s this meme from Terrell which leads us to conclude…

Finally, we’ll call it a wrap with Yet Another Sign The Apocalypse Is Upon Us, courtesy today of yet another corporation bowing to political correctness:

Always to stop using Venus symbol on menstruation products to be more inclusive

“Proctor & Gamble brand Always will remove the feminine Venus symbol from its menstruation products in an effort to be more “inclusive” to transgender customers, according to reports.

The move came after LGBTQ activists reminded the company on social media that not all of their customers are women, The Independent reported…”

The day anyone other than a biological female menstruates will be the day we recognize there’s more than two genders…in addition to the two established AT BIRTH.
