It’s Monday, June 29th, 2020…but before we begin, THIS is a PRIME example of why The Donald sometimes drives us to distraction:

Trump pushes back on NY Times report on Russian Afghan attacks, says ‘nobody briefed’ him, Pence

“…This echoed a statement from Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe, who said he “confirmed that neither the president nor the vice president were ever briefed on any intelligence alleged by the New York Times in its reporting yesterday.”…”

Think about it: The Times published their piece Friday; Trump tweeted his response early Sunday morning.  Had you been President, what would’ve been your first move upon learning of the story?  What would have occupied your time in the interim?

Likely the same as ours: we’d have had the heads of every single intelligence organization assembled in the White House to ascertain if The Times account was accurate.  If any answered in the affirmative, we’d have immediately determined why they didn’t see fit to inform the President or Vice President, then had them explain before a camera their reason for withholding the information, then had their scalp(s).

If all assembled confirmed Trump’s assertion the report was more fake news from an increasingly unreliable paper of record, we’d have had several of them on FOX News Saturday and Sunday morning stating such.

Sorry, but a potential bombshell like this requires a prompt, reasoned and on-point response, NOT some half-baked tweet containing Twitter tags and a juvenile reference to “Corrupt Joe Biden”.

The point is NOT whether the previous President and Vice President coddled the Russians or engaged in manifestly corrupt practices…

It’s whether the story is accurate!!!  And John Ratcliffe’s denial notwithstanding, he’s only been in his position since May 26th; the WSJ reports the intelligence assessment was delivered to the White House earlier this spring.  Is he speaking for himself or for the chiefs of all the other intelligence services?  It makes a very distinct difference!

We cannot begin to contemplate the consequences if The Donald was actually informed of the facts, yet did nothing…or forgot he was informed…then still promoted Putin for inclusion in the next G-7 confab.

Last week, Tucker fired a shot across Trump’s bow warning him he’s no shoo-in come November.   This is potentially just one in an accumulation of missteps which can make Carlson’s premonition a reality.

Though we must temper this statement with a meme forwarded by Mark Foster which reminds us, like Hillary…

…Groper Joe is more than capable…

…of authoring his own demise.

Now, here’s The Gouge!

First up, we offer two excellent articles on the MSM’s continued collusion in covering up not only Sonny Cuomo’s responsibility for killing off New York State’s most vulnerable citizens, but the good governor’s incredible chutzpah at continuing to deny the obvious…and irrefutable.

As the editors at NRO note:

None of this means that reopening is a failure. The promise of reopening wasn’t that there would be no additional casesmost (sane and reasonable) people conceded that there would be. The promise of reopening was that we could begin a necessary return to normal life, while managing new outbreaks, hitting the brakes when and where needed, and having plans in place to keep hospitals from coming close to getting overwhelmed, as almost happened during the worst period in New York. (i.e., reflatten the curve!)

This is what Florida, Texas, and Arizona are trying to do, and we should all be rooting for their success.

But as this next headline indicates, die-hard Progressives aren’t like the rest of us:

Bill Gates slams Trump for blaming other countries like China for coronavirus pandemic – as his wife Melinda says black Americans should get the vaccine first

Something tells us, Bill’s ignorance of the Wuhan virus’s history and Melinda’s expression of altruism notwithstanding, should an effective vaccine be developed, the Gates family may be not be, if you’ll forgive the term, at the back of the bus.

Next up, writing at NRO, Andy McCarthy offers his unerring insight into Progressives promotion of…

Police ‘Reform’ and the Making of a Racism Narrative

This narrative is driving the nation to ruin.

Have you seen that mountain of evidence that Derek Chauvin is a racist? Me neither.

In that regard, I’m like the Wall Street Journal’s fearlessly fact-driven Jason Riley. Did some shred of racial animus motivate the since-fired Minneapolis police officer’s killing of George Floyd? For the moment, we have no proof of thatjust a racialist narrative built on the happenstance (no reason to believe it’s more than that right now) that Chauvin is white and Floyd was black.

These days, alas, mere happenstance is enough to tear this nation asunder.

As an old investigator, I am intrigued by the fact that Minnesota attorney general Keith Ellison has refused to disclose police body-cam video of the moments leading up to Chauvin’s disturbing neck hold. Ditto the fact — highlighted in my analyses of the charges filed against the arresting officers (here and here) — that the state’s minute-by-minute recitation of probable cause omits whatever went on between Floyd and police inside the squad-car. Surely, if they helped the prosecution’s police-brutality allegations, those gaps in the complaint would have been filled.

Similarly, the fact that Minnesota police procedures permitted the use of neck holds for suspects resisting arrest has disappeared from the reporting. No chatter permitted, either, about the facts that Floyd (a) had a significant criminal record (though no new charges in recent years), (b) was suspected of passing a small amount of counterfeit money at the time of his arrest, and (c) was high on fentanyl and methamphetamine — a toxic combination whose ingestion was particularly dangerous for a person with his heart conditions.

Silence on these matters is partially explained by the admirably widespread desire not to besmirch a tragic victim, as well as (and far more likely!) the Left’s more-narrow determination to martyr Floyd for purposes of their police-racism narrative. The subject is also verboten, though, because the police were inconveniently recorded discussing their fear that Floyd might be experiencing excited-delirium syndrome. When police suspect that dangerous condition, their training calls for restraining the arrestee until emergency medical personnel arrive.

I’ve expressed my concern that the case against the former Minneapolis police is both overcharged and undercharged. Others have taken the overcharging argument further than I have — and persuasively so (see this thoughtful, comprehensive analysis by Gavrilo David) (as previously featured in the June 19th edition of The Gouge). None of this means the prosecution of the now-fired cops is illegitimate. To the contrary, it underscores the wisdom of the original charges, filed before the notoriously demagogic Ellison entered the fray. In them, prosecutors took pains to include a manslaughter charge along with depraved indifference murder. That is, the police were not trying to kill this man. His death, to which his own poor judgment contributed, resulted from police negligence, possibly severe enough to rise to recklessness. But to this moment, there is no reason to believe his death was intentional, much less a modern-day “lynching” motivated by racial animus.

Yet the racism narrative is driving the nation to ruin…”

Andy goes on to detail with his customary thoroughness the true intent behind the Progressive push for police “reform”.

But in response to what we’ve quoted above, we first have a question: if Chauvin and the other three officers were in fact simply following standard Minnesota/Minneapolis police procedures, on what basis should the officers have been charged with anything, including negligence and/or recklessness?

Second, since we’re on the subject of narratives, driving the nation to ruin or otherwise, we’ve a comment: consider the following, then tell us (and be HONEST)…

…does Ahmaud Arbery look like a “jogger” to you?  Seriously, how many people “jogging” walk into a house under construction wearing cargo shorts with a bandana tied around their neck?

This is in NO WAY to infer or intimate the McMichaels were justified in precipitating an armed confrontation with Mr. Arbery, let alone in any way suggest Arbery “deserved” death.  Our point is only to question WHY, when the aforementioned appear to be fact, anyone felt the highly unlikely “jogging” narrative was necessary?!?

Just sayin’.

After Voting to Abolish Cops, Minneapolis City Council Members Hire Private Security

Police for me but not for thee.

The Minneapolis City Council voted unanimously to defund and dismantle the city’s police department. Instead of having armed police officers responding to violent criminals, the new plan, which is still in the works, will reportedly task social workers, or some other type of liberal arts major, with keeping the streets safe in Minneapolis.

But FOX 9 News learned the city is now spending $4,500 a day on private security for three city council members following the death of George Floyd. A city spokesperson told FOX 9 that security details have already cost the city $63,000 over the past three weeks.

The Minneapolis city council is comprised of 12 Democratic-Farmer-Labor members and one Green Party of Minneapolis member. The three members provided private security are Andrea Jenkins, Phillipe Cunnigham, and Alondra Cano, all outspoken supporters of defunding the police. So these leftists hire muscle to protect themselves but abolish cops who protect everyone else. Something tells me the private security guards don’t have graduate degrees in social work.

“I don’t feel comfortable publicly discussing the death threats against me or the level of security I currently have protecting me from those threats,” said Councilmember Cunningham in a text message to FOX 9, adding the private security was only temporary.

I bet he doesn’t feel comfortable discussing it.

My concern is the large number of white nationalist(s) in our city and other threatening communications I’ve been receiving,” wrote Councilmembers Jenkins in an email to FOX 9.

So she (heit!!!) gets private security to protect her from whatever boogeyman keeps her up at night, but those looted store owners and Minneapolis residents beat to a pulp will be on their own? Jenkins said she’s been requesting private security since she was sworn into office.

The other councilmember, Cano, didn’t respond to FOX 9.

The soon-to-be-scrapped Minneapolis Police Department told FOX 9 that, while it’s possible a police report could be filed confidentially, the department has no recent reports of any threats made against council members. Jenkins – who claims she’s (he’sit’s!!!) been threatened and attacked over her ethnicity, gender identity and sexuality – says she didn’t have time to report the threats to the police department because she’s been too busy.

You want to know what privilege looks like in America, this is it.

Speaking of privilege, we turn again to Townhall.com‘s Bronson Stocking, as he offers the latest on two of those Melinda Gates believes deserve blanket immunity of a sort:

Charges Finally Issued in Unprovoked Attack on Macy’s Employee

Charges were issued on Friday against Damire Palmer, the 18-year-old black man accused of attacking a white Macy’s employee earlier this month. Despite a claim made by the suspect’s brother that the victim had used a racial slur, Macy’s says an internal investigation of the incident concluded the attack was unprovoked(We can only assume Macy’s internal security far exceeds the capabilities and competence of

All the materials from the evening have been reviewed and it is clear that the attack was unprovoked,” the company said in a statement. “We are working closely with local authorities on this investigation, and will defer any further comments about the case to them per policy.”

Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton announced a charge of assault with intent to do great bodily harm, a 10-year felony“This was an unprovoked attack on a Macy’s employee,” Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton said Friday. “This behavior, as seen on the video, is unacceptable, it is criminal and it cannot be allowed.”

Leyton said he does not believe any racial slur was used by the employee, noting that “even if there had been, it does not condone nor justify the assault by Mr. Palmer.”

Many believe the suspect would be charged with a hate crime if the races of the suspect and the victim were reversed. But Leyton said the evidence does not support the charge“I know a lot of people are calling this a hate crime but, under the laws of Michigan, the evidence simply does not support that charge,” Leyton contended…”

At the risk of injecting common sense into a penumbra emanating from something as unsubstantial as a one of William O. Douglas’s farts…

Burn in Hell, William O., burn in Hell!

Sorry, but doesn’t the repeated use of “n*gger” in and of itself constitute a hate crime, let alone when directed at the victim of a felony assault, particularly if the races were reversed?!?  Who was the racist in this encounter?!?  Will the FBI be sending 15 special agents to assist county authorities with THIS investigation?!?  Can anyone remember a similar instance when the races of those involved were reversed?!?  We sure won’t hold our breath waiting for the scumbag rapper who videoed the attack to be charged like the guy down in Glynn County, Georgia.

Minneapolis firefighter finds noose in locker, FBI asked to investigate

Bloomington Mayor Tim Busse promised to deal ‘aggressively’ with the incident.

Minneapolis officials have asked the FBI to investigate after a piece of rope resembling a noose was found in a black firefighter’s locker. The rope was found at a Bloomington fire station on June 15, and was not reported for a week. The rope was tied into what appeared to be a crude noose, according to reports.

Bloomington Mayor Tim Busse said he is “disgusted, angry, and embarrassed by this cowardly act. To be clear, this incident is very serious and is being dealt with aggressively.” Busse said the city plans to bring in a mental health consultant “to address the emotional, social, and psychological trauma that results from racial traumatic events.” Racial equity will be the focus of a City Council meeting on July 13, he said…”

What a difference a week makes!  We’re always curious when body cam footage of the George Floyd incident..with notable omissions…is immediately made public, but photos of an inanimate object like “a piece of rope resembling a noose” aren’t available.  If this isn’t another race crime hoax we’ll eat our hat.

Then again, the more things change, the more they stay the same, as this item from Monday, July 27th, 2009 in Houston proves…

When A Noose Is Just a Knot

Houston Fire Department Sr. Captain Keith Smith apologized today for keeping a knot in his station locker that many thought resembled the racist symbol of a noose. Captain Smith said the rope,  – which he described to be 3/4 to 1 inch in diameter and 4 feet long,  was a  training souvenir from his days at the HFD academy.

Smith attended a news conference at the fire department’s headquarters near downtown, along with Pastor D.Z. Cofield  of the NAACPCofield told the media that the civil rights organization investigated the complaints about the hangman’s style noose, but concluded that the charge of racism was unwarranted.

“For us this is not an issue of black or white, wrong or right, ” said Pastor Cofield. “We believe he (Smith) was unfairly treated.”

Cofield went on to say that he does believe HFD has a serious issues of racism and sexism that deserve to be investigated.

Ah yes, the never-ending, always unprovable Progressive statement of racist fact not in evidence!!!

Speaking of scumbag racists, FOX News informs us how a…

Black New York Democrat refuses to concede House primary election after losing to ANOTHER Black New York Democrat, alleges ‘black voter suppression

Though the video hits some highlight, the entire article is well worth your time, as it exposes the absolute absence of fact in material which will now be taught to American students as truth.  The Pulitzer Prize hasn’t been awarded to such a massive collection of Socialist propaganda since Walter Duranty defended and covered-up for Stalin.
