Things Baby Boomers Think Are Cool

Dear baby boomers, we are sorry to tell you that these things were never cool, it’s time to accept that. In the 1950’s and 60’s there was a big rise in births in America, so much so, that it was dubbed a “baby boom”.

The children born between 1946 and 1964 are now known as the baby boomer generation and they grew up to be very influential in government and business. That is how they managed to make a lot of uncool things hugely popular. Here’s our list of things baby boomers believe are cool but really aren’t.

Diamonds: A girls’ best friend or not, it turns out that diamonds aren’t all they’re cracked up to be. These precious gems are released slowly into the market to drive up their prices, keeping their costs scandalously high. How many people could enjoy free higher education with all the money spent on diamonds?…”

The list goes on to include anything from golf to enclosed malls.  So, how many people could enjoy “free” higher education with all the money spent on diamonds?  Not a one: Zero, zip, nada.  Not a single person could enjoy “free” higher education, or, for that matter, anything else “free”, because things paid for with funds forcibly appropriated from others are hardly “free”, particularly to those footing the bill.

Young people: they’re not stupid; they just know so much that simply isn’t true.

Nancy Pelosi gets hair done at SF salon in spite of COVID-19 rules

One has to wonder if Nancy’s staffer saw this photo before claiming, “The speaker always wears a mask and complies with local COVID requirements.”  Rez ipsa loquitur.

FYI, by Bill Meisen’s count, of all the MSM outlets, only NBC…and that with a story buried at the bottom of its web page…has given Pelosi’s latest hypocrisy word one.

Now, here’s The Gouge!

Dangers for Democrats

The violence will continue unless you vote for Biden’ sounds like a threat. Voters don’t always respond well to threats.

Call me crazy, but I don’t think Joe Biden’s best response to the news of a leftist protestor shooting a peaceful Donald Trump supporter in the head execution-style is to run in front of the cameras and say, “This is Donald Trump’s America.” Or repeating the close of his news release the other day, “How safe do you feel in Donald Trump’s America?”

When you put it that way, it sounds like a threat.

Maybe that’s why he’s calling off his planned visit to Kenosha.

The theory behind Democrats saying over and over again “This is Donald Trump’s America” is that, unlike in 1968, the Republican candidate talking about law and order in 2020 is an incumbent. So it’s all on him.

I don’t think it works that way. Maybe in 1968 people not only noticed who the incumbent was, but what side the unrest was on. Our “uprisings” are led by people who hate Trump. They are happening under Democratic governors, and in cities with Democratic mayors and city counsels. Those elected officials have turned down multiple offers of help. It was a Democrat mayor who called the Seattle Autonomous Zone a “summer of love” as its residents violently extorted local business. She closed it down only after the second child was murdered in it.

“This is Donald Trump’s America.” I just don’t know. When I was a dumb teenager, I once used an aerosol spray can and a lighter in the kitchen to make a minor flame thrower. I burned a curtain. I wasn’t clever enough to turn to my mother and excuse myself by protesting, “At the end of the day, this is your house!”…”

BTW, according to court documents reviewed by the Daily Caller, all three of Kyle’s Kenosha “victims” were criminals, with convictions ranging from sexual conduct with a minor to felony strangulation.  So, expressing matters accurately, all three individuals young Master Rittenhouse shot in self-defense when they viciously assaulted him were convicted criminals intent on…

…committing additional atrocities.

If The Riots Are Trump’s Fault, Whose Fault Were the Ferguson Riots?

Backed into a corner, Biden and his media allies have desperately tried to shift the blame for violence carried out by their own supporters to President Trump. Their meme is that this is happening in Trump’s America.

Except that it actually began under Obama. (Like the “dog kennels” on the border!) “For the last four years, we weren’t having riots, racial riots. And when they occurred, we didn’t have to go call in the National,” Biden confusingly claimed.

There were no riots. Except when there were riots.

The Black Lives Matter movement and the massive wave of nationwide race riots actually began under Obama and Biden. And the Obama administration nurtured and stirred up the riots through the DOJ as has been widely documented.

If the current riots are President Trump’s fault, no matter who’s rioting and where they’re rioting, then whose fault were the Ferguson riots?

The Democrats and their media want to have it both ways, but it can’t be both ways. These riots began under Obama and continued on under Trump. What’s happening now is an extension of what began in 2014. The Obama administration actively used the violence to divide Americans, as Democrats are doing now, even while trying to blame Republicans for the violence.

Yeah, makes about as much sense as the claim Trump’s intent is to…

…kill off his base prior to the election!

Michelle Obama says ‘white America’ acts like black women don’t exist

Former first lady Michelle Obama said on her podcast Thursday that “white America” acts like black womenincluding herself — don’t exist.

“When I’ve been completely incognito, during the eight years in the White House, walking the dogs on the canal, people will come up and pet my dogs, but will not look me in the eye. They don’t know it’s me,” the former first lady said in “The Michelle Obama Podcast.” (Uh,…we didn’t go to Princeton (having turned down Harvard in favor of the Naval Academy), but isn’t that the desired effect of traveling “incognito”?!?)

“What white folks don’t understand, it’s like that is so telling of how white America views people who are not like them. You know, we don’t exist. And when we do exist, we exist as a threat. And that, that’s exhausting,” Obama continued. (Panting as she caught her breath in the confines of her $13 million dollar mansion on Martha’s Vineyard!)

“What the white community doesn’t understand about being a person of color in this nation is that there are daily slights, in our workplaces where people talk over you, or people don’t even see you,” she said…”

WOW!!!

It’s as if Moochie’s been magically transported to the past, back to a time before she enjoyed a privileged upbringing…before she attended Princeton…before she wrote a Marxist thesis critical of her country…before she was offered a six-figure salary at a Chicago hospital with no commensurate qualifications nor discernible duties…before she was the first Black First Lady…before $540 food bank sneakers…before she owned three homes worth a collective $35 million!!!

One would think she’d personally experienced beatings, bullwhips, fire hoses and police dogs; that it was she, rather than Sheriff Bart, who endured the scorn of the old White woman’s response…

So, from a plethora of possible responses, we’ve narrowed the candidates down to two: either (A)…

Lawsuit says McDonald’s discriminates against Black franchisees

McDonald’s Corp has been sued by 52 Black former franchise owners who accuse the fast-food giant of racial discrimination by steering them to depressed, crime-ridden neighborhoods and setting them up for failure.

In a complaint seeking up to $1 billion of damages, the plaintiffs said McDonald’s has not offered profitable restaurant locations and growth opportunities to Black franchisees on the same terms as white franchisees, belying its public commitment to diversity and Black entrepreneurship…”

No doubt not making the McRib a permanent menu item was also meant to minimize minority profits.

Let Them Boycott!

No one is saying athletes should not have social consciences or forums to express their political views. But the game is not such a forum, not if they expect people to attend or tune in.

Ostensibly, the NBA boycotts, which other sports are adopting, are illogical. But then, the animating concept behind the player protests — “systemic racism,” derived from the smear that the nation’s police forces are hunting down young black men — is irrational, a triumph of distorted narrative over critical thinking. Why should the boycotts be any different?

For a work stoppage to be successful, it has to withhold something the potential consumer wants. Or, at least, wants badly enough to be depressed by its absence. Big-time professional sports has been that something for a long time. The sand is running out of the hourglass, though, and that won’t change if the players don’t figure out why.

With some exceptions, the astronomically paid athletes are inexperienced in anything other than their sport — understandably so: They are young, and it takes full-time dedication to compete at their elite level. They are ill-informed, or flat uninformed, about the phenomena they claim to be animated by. They do not approach public policy with an open mind. That, too, is not their fault. Modern-era education has supplanted critical thinking with tribalism, grievance-mongering, and hostility to the free exchange of ideas and viewpoints. It seems paradoxical, given how self-regarding athletes tend to be, but marination in progressive tropes has left them devoid of self-perception. The wealth, the adulation, and the open doors enjoyed by the players, a large percentage of whom are African American, defy the Manichean tale they parrot about America.

It does not dawn on today’s athletes, then, that their saleable value lies in giving the rest of us a unifying escape from our personal struggles and social divisions. For two or three hours, we can marvel at how the well-executed pick-and-roll is nearly impossible to defend. The conservative and the liberal, the black and white fan, all of us can relate to wishing we could be the slugger who carries a team, wishing we could feel, even for a moment, what it’s like to have such talent.

The players don’t realize that the value they can singularly provide, the value that the consumer craves, is the oasis from turmoil. The oasis is disappearing. The players first invited the turmoil in, and now they are stoking it.

The Left ruins everything…”

Here’s the juice: Other than professional golf (we can’t speak to tennis), every major professional sports league and organization has surrendered to the demands of a Marxist movement built upon lies and distortions, one whose stated goals are antithetical to what generations of my family, my eldest son included, risked life and limb to protect and defend.  We for one are not going to enable their anti-American attitudes through either our time or money.

Maybe the NFL, NHL, NBA, MLS, MLB and NASCAR can increase their dwindling fanbases by getting Xi Jinping to order his 1.4 billion subjects to tune in…you know, on pain of arrest and imprisonment!  LeBron should be down with that.

Yarmuk: Venerated by Islam, Forgotten in the West

Learning from the “most consequential” battle between Islam and the West

Last week in history, on August 20, 636, arguably the single most consequential battle between Islam and the West took place—that of Yarmuk.  Occurring just four years after Muslim prophet Muhammad had died, not only did the military engagement decide whether the Arabian creed thrives or dies; it became a chief source of inspiration and instruction for jihadis throughout the centuries, right down to the Islamic State.  And yet, very few in the West are even aware of the Battle of Yarmuk’s existence—much less how it motivates contemporary Islamic terrorists…”
