Angus (aka “Anus”) King’s Gambit

Maine’s Senator wants free entertainment streaming for all.

Democrats have pushed to expand government entitlements and business mandates during the pandemic. Now Maine Sen. Angus King wants Netflix and other streaming services to provide complementary entertainment to help Americans social distance over the holidays.

“At this time, we must find ways to incentivize people to follow guidance from the CDC, their employer, local public health officials, or school leaders,” (Who is this a*s clown?!? Since when do Americans allow their employers or “school leaders” to control their personal lives?!?) Mr. King wrote in a letter this week to Netflix, Amazon, Disney and WarnerMedia. Americans left to their own devices will “carry on their typical holiday traditions instead of remaining safely at home.” (Yes, you read that right!)

To encourage Americans to “make responsible choices”—i.e., abstain from merriment with family and friends—Mr. King is asking the platforms to “provide temporary service at no cost to non-subscribers.” He added: “I look forward to hearing what steps you see feasible and able to be accomplished to limit the health emergency that COVID-19 is posing at this difficult time.”

Who knew Netflix could slow Covid? The pandemic has been a boon for online streaming services, which have added tens of millions of new users during the pandemic. Disney+ now boasts 74 million, up from 50 million in April. There’s no evidence, however, the streaming surge has stopped the virus from spreading.

In any case, many young people (along with many old people as well!) already free-ride on subscriptions of family and friends. Increased streaming of “The Queen’s Gambit” or “Seinfeld” reruns would increase broadband traffic and slow speeds for other uses including telemedicine visits and FaceTiming with grandparents. There’s no such thing as free Netflix…”

Or anything else, for that matter…though you’ll never convince dyed-in-the-Red Socialists like Anus King of this inconvenient but irrefutable truth.

Speaking of the scam that is Wuhan, Best of the Web‘s Jim Freeman wonders…

How Many People Have Died of Covid—or Just with Covid?

Danielle Chavira of Denver’s CBS affiliate KCNC reports:

The Grand County coroner is calling attention to the way the state health department is classifying some deaths. The coroner, Brenda Bock, says two of their five deaths related to COVID-19 were people who died of gunshot wounds.

Bock says because they tested positive for COVID-19 within the past 30 days, they were classified as “deaths among cases.”

…The state health department says the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention requires them to report people who’ve died with COVID-19 in their systems because it’s crucial for public health surveillance.

It’s as our daughter-in-love Liz informed us back in May: the figures are fabrications; and the restrictions, heretofore never necessary in the history of the planet, like every other Progressive policy ever pronounced, not intended to aid, but to control

DNI Declassifies Handwritten Notes From John Brennan, 2016 CIA Referral On Clinton Campaign’s Collusion Operation

On Tuesday, Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe declassified and released to Congress handwritten notes from former CIA Director John Brennan as well as a CIA investigative referral to James Comey and Peter Strzok requesting that they investigate Russian knowledge of Hillary Clinton’s anti-Trump collusion smear operation.

Top U.S. intelligence officials were so concerned heading into the 2016 election that the Russians were aware of and potentially manipulating Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s plans to smear Donald Trump as a Russian agent that they personally briefed President Barack Obama on the matter, newly declassified Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) documents show. CIA officials also requested that the FBI investigate Russian knowledge of the Clinton campaign’s collusion smear operation.

Newly declassified handwritten notes from former CIA Director John Brennan show that the U.S. intelligence community knew in 2016 that Russian intelligence was actively monitoring, and potentially injecting disinformation into, Clinton’s anti-Trump collusion narrative. The intelligence concerning Russia’s knowledge of Clinton’s campaign plans was so concerning to Brennan and other national security officials that they personally informed Obama of the matter in the Oval Office in the summer of 2016. The handwritten notes from Brennan were declassified by Director of National Intelligence (DNI) John Ratcliffe and provided to Congress on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the declassified notes, Brennan and the U.S. intelligence community knew months prior to the 2016 election that the collusion smear was the result of a campaign operation hatched by the campaign of Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton“We’re getting additional insight into Russian activites from [REDACTED],” Brennan’s handwritten notes state. “Cite alleged approval by Hillary Clinton–on 26 July–of a proposal from one of her foreign policy advisers to villify [sic] Donald Trump by stirring up a scandal claiming interference by the Russian security services.”

The notes appear to have been prepared by Brennan to memorialize a meeting held at the White House with the president and his top national security advisers. Included in Brennan’s notes are the responses of other participants in the briefing — including those of former White House National Security Adviser Susan Rice, former White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough, and former DNI James Clapper, but those responses are redacted.

At one point, Obama asked whether there was any evidence of collaboration between the Trump campaign and Russia, but any response that may have been recorded in Brennan’s notes is redacted…”

Yeah…

Since we’re on the subject of highly inappropriate…if not illegal…intelligence practices, Best of the Web‘s Jim Freeman questions…

The Swalwell Timeline

Did a communist spy know the congressman was about to assume oversight of the CIA?

“…If Mr. Swalwell’s story is accurate, it means he was told sometime in late 2014 or earlier that he had unwittingly been conducting a relationship with a communist spy. If this is accurate, then how can one explain what happened next in Congress?

On Jan. 14, 2015, Speaker Pelosi announced that Rep. Swalwell was joining the House Intelligence Committee. The speaker was likely aware that he appeared to have little relevant experience for the highly sensitive position. “Congressman Swalwell’s determined leadership and energetic, fresh perspective will help our country meet the national security and intelligence challenges of the 21st century,” said Mrs. Pelosi in a statement.

Back home in California, local press noticed that the 34-year-old Mr. Swalwell had scored something of a coup. Carla Marinucci reported in the San Francisco Chronicle that the congressman was “named to a plum position on the House Select Committee on Intelligence.”

And he didn’t just receive a seat on the committee. A subsequent press release from his office announced:

U.S. Representative Eric Swalwell (CA-15) today was selected to serve as the senior Democrat on the Committee on Intelligence’s Subcommittee on the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). This newly established subcommittee is responsible for the oversight, policy, activities, and budget of the CIA.

Just a few weeks or months after being told by the FBI that he’d been duped into conducting some sort of relationship with a communist spy, a young backbencher in Congress was given a significant role overseeing the CIA? Both Mr. Swalwell and the speaker need to explain who knew what and when about the Chinese infiltration of his political network and why many intelligence committee colleagues were not told, among other issues.

They must also address the process that led to Rep. Swalwell’s lead role among Democrats in overseeing the CIA. Who were the people who weighed in on the young congressman’s behalf when the speaker was preparing to hand out committee assignments? And don’t tell us it’s classified.

For more on the subject of Socialist disinformation, we turn to the Morning Jolt, where Jim Geraghty highlights the incredibly destructive hypocrisy at the heart of the public education system, as the Teachers’ unions promulgate the curious conundrum…

If School Is Continuing Remote, There’s Less Urgency Around the Vaccination

Teachers’ unions deserve every bit of scorn that they get and more. In the New York Times, the head of the country’s largest teachers’ union whines that parents are attempting to “bully” teachers back into schools:

We don’t want to be in the business of putting a hierarchy in place,” said Becky Pringle, who runs the country’s largest teachers’ union, the National Education Association, “because some of our members are being bullied into returning back to classrooms. That’s not safe, we don’t want to support that.

Bullying? Bullying? Ma’am, the classroom is where the students are — it is where your members’ jobs are. Everyone working in supermarkets and pharmacies and Amazon warehouses and driving trucks doesn’t want to get exposed to the virus, either. But they’re putting on their masks and socially distancing and going in and doing their best because the job has to get done. And now some teachers are saying they don’t want to go back into the classroom, even with a vaccine available?

But somehow, this article gets much, much worse:

In Chicago, the teachers’ union is fighting a plan to begin returning some students to schools early next year. “Obviously, if school is continuing remote, there’s less urgency around the vaccination,” said the Chicago Teachers Union’s president, Jesse Sharkey.

Asked if he could imagine schools opening before fall 2021, Mr. Sharkey said yes, but he suggested it would have more to do with controlling the spread of the virus than vaccinating teachers. “With mitigation strategies in place, and with a reasonably low level of community spread, I do think that we could get to open schools,” he said.

Sure, reopening the schools could add some urgency to get vaccinated, but you know what’s really causing most of the urgency around the vaccination? The contagious virus. Some unions used the lack of vaccine to justify keeping the schools closed, and now they’re using closed schools as an excuse to put off getting vaccinated.

Clearly, the teachers’ unions are quite content with the current status quo of students attempting to learn from home. Working parents are notRoughly 2.2 million American women have left the workforce since February. In many cases, those women haven’t had a choice about leaving their jobs, because the schools and after-school care are closed, and that’s where their children would be weekdays. And for the most vulnerable kids, distance learning isn’t working either.

But in the eyes of these teachers’ unions, distance learning is a comfortable status quo that is meant to be extended as long as possible. Forget bullying; parents should seek out any way possible to punish the teachers’ unions for how they’ve abused their power throughout this whole ordeal.

Again, yeah…
