It’s Friday, May 21st, 2021…but before we begin, allow us to offer a few random thoughts on the passing scene.

First, though 46* is now attempting to claim his “quiet, relentless diplomacy” led to a cease-fire between the Middle East’s only functioning democracy and the terrorists who, for almost two weeks and without provocation, relentlessly rained rockets down on its innocent citizens, the fact remains the conflict never would have begun had Trump still occupied the Oval Office.  Not to mention FOX is suggesting Egypt brokered the deal.

Second, though most know prices for building materials, lumber and PVC in particular, have been shooting upward since the onset of the scamdemic, and almost everyone’s aware the cost for a gallon of gas has been steadily climbing since 46* took office, has anyone else noticed the cost of restaurant meals lately?  TLJ and we recently had a light dinner at a local diner, and our Greek salads topped with chicken and tuna cost $18.99 each, and the cup of soup which used to come with any entrée appeared as an additional $6.99 on our bill.  Like any other business crippled by the needless and destructive lockdowns, restaurants have to make up for lost revenue somehow…at least those still in business.

Third, regarding the homeless “epidemic”, like the continuous, vicious cycle of single-parent bred poverty, homelessness is largely the result of decades of purposeful, counterproductive Progressive policies and judicial decisions.  And though we recently detailed the incredible amounts of money literally thrown away by politicians and bureaucrats attempting to solve this self-created crisis by providing free housing, it doesn’t stop these same Socialists from embodying Einstein’s supposed definition of insanity.

Case in point, the folks featured in this video on the problems in Austin, TX.  Though the video’s well worth watching in its entirety, the money shots come at the 2:08-2:20 and 5:31-6:08 marks…

…as an Austin property owner hopes other, more sensible voters take him off the hook, and a “homeless” woman definitively opts out of living in a homeless shelter.

And while we initially felt for this eviction-threatened single mom, our sympathy waned as it was revealed at the 1:42 mark…

…she blames her seven supposed asthma attacks NOT on her obesity, but owing to stress.  AND she’s avoided seeking new employment for fear she’d get sick, and then who would take care of her children…who are about to be evicted along with her

Here’s the juice in keeping with our earlier assertion: Our nephew, a mid-40’s, lifelong drug addict, just secured a spot in a rehab facility.  The conditions certainly weren’t to be confused with The Four Seasons: he had a toilet, sink, clean sheets, a metal-framed bed and three squares a day.  Unfortunately, the spartan but adequate accommodations were accompanied with some rules…such as the liquor store across the street was off-limits.

Which exceeded the limits of his tolerance for being told what to do, so he opted, for the umpteenth time, to return to the streets.  Sorry, but NO AMOUNT OF TAXPAYER FUNDED HOUSING will address the issues of a homeless population who doesn’t wish to be housed as long as they’re required to follow rules.

Now, here’s The Gouge!

2017 Article About Mask Addiction in Japan That Perfectly Predicted What’s Happening to Mask Worshippers Now

As mask mandates continue to fall throughout the country in places most never would have predicted just two weeks ago, those of us who have longed for a return to normalcy are breathing a sigh of relief and enjoying the ride.

However, habitual mask-wearers, particularly those aligned with the political left, aren’t celebrating, not by a long shot. Instead, they are clinging to their face diapers like Linus iron-grips his security blanket, and they aren’t about to let go anytime soon. We’ve all seen it play out time and time again with Branch Covidian mask-worshippers we know online and even personally. No amount of data or reason will sway them, but why

Turns out, the likeliest explanation for this illogical devotion to their weird face mask god is, in fact, rooted in mental illness, one that was eerily described in an article about Japanese mask addition Tor Ching Li wrote for The Straits Times in 2017.

From the piece:

But if you stay in Japan long enough, you would realise that the Japanese love affair with the surgical masks goes beyond health and hygiene – to the realm of psychology and even pathology.

While many wear the mask as a defence against allergens, some use it as a cover-up, a shield against social situations that trigger anxiety.

Figures attest to a phenomenon some have termed “mask dependency”: Mask production rose 20 per cent year on year in 2015, to a record high of 4.9 billion pieces, according to latest data from the Japan Hygiene Products Industry Association.

Mask dependency” anyone?…”

…to learn of another mental illness directly linked to Liberalism.

Speaking of the mentally ill, Kyle Smith explains why the Right (or anyone else with minimal discernment) HATES Dr. Faux Chi.  Spoiler Alert: It’s not an aversion to, or ignorance of truth and/or science.  Rather it’s a decided distaste for despicable, deceitful douchebags.

Since we broached the subject of the despicable and deceitful, NRO‘s Charlie Cooke relates why…

The Democrats Have a Kamala Harris Problem

It seems indisputable that the Democratic Party has a real interest in Harris being more popular than she is.

Americans have never much liked Kamala Harris. Despite being theoretically well-placed to dominate the 2020 Democratic primary, she dropped out of the race in December of 2019 with just 3 percent support nationally and about 7 percent support in her home state of California. Now holding the vice presidency, Harris remains impressively unbeloved. Per a recent YouGov poll, her net approval rating is ten points underwater among all voters and 25 points underwater among independents, 44 percent of whom say they have a “very unfavorable” opinion. For a vice president to engender such feelings — especially at this stage in the cycle — is unusual, to say the least.

Still, that Harris is unpopular should come as no great surprise, given that she somehow manages to combine into a single package a transparent insincerity, an unvarnished authoritarianism, and a tendency toward precisely the sort of self-satisfied progressivism that helped the Republicans to limit their losses at the last general election. If her apologists wish to, they can pretend that the reaction Harris yields is “gendered” or “systemic” or “inequitable” or whatever other bastardized academic term is fashionable this week, and they should feel free to knock themselves out doing so. Deep down, though, they must know that America isn’t the problem here. The problem is that Harris is a phony. It remains the case that, throughout her entire public career, almost nobody has looked at Kamala Harris and thought, “Yes, she’s the person we need to lead us.” Sure, she’s won a couple of elections. But even in deep blue California, she has struggled. Her 2010 victory in the attorney general’s race was decided by just 74,000 votes out of more than 9.6 million cast, and ended up being so close that it took three weeks before the result was finally clear. There is a reason that, having been picked as Biden’s running mate, Harris was quickly shoved offstage.

It is hard to intuit now — against the backdrop of a new presidency, with all the talk of a Republican civil war, and amid the usual media-driven certainty that conservatism is at death’s door — but the Democratic Party has a good number of challenges of its own ahead of 2024. Its social politics are deeply unpopular. Its most prominent members are in thrall to Twitter. Its penchant for spending huge gobs of money is already causing real-world problems. And, as the last election showed, the likelihood that the party will be able simply to ignore all this and let changing demographics do their work has been exposed as a mirage. By 2024, Republicans may well be politically ascendant — and, if they are, the Democrats are going to wish that they hadn’t allowed a dud such as Kamala Harris to become the most vibrant face of their brand.

Unmask the Children

Now that older Americans have the choice to protect themselves, it is deeply unfair to subject children to restrictions that no longer apply to adults.

“…Earlier in the pandemic, the argument in favor of having children wear masks was that even if they don’t typically get severe COVID-19, children could spread the virus to somebody older who could get seriously ill. But again, by the logic of the CDC announcement, that argument no longer applies. Remember, the CDC guidance is based on the idea that “if you are fully vaccinated, you are protected” and that “people are responsible for their own health.” So if any adults are worked up about the prospect of bands of unvaccinated and maskless kindergartners running wild, they have the option to take the shot.

Once we eliminate the societal component from the risk equation, we are left with only the question of whether the COVID-19 risk to children is great enough to justify continued masking. There is no universe in which this is true.

Children are extremely unlikely to get seriously ill from this disease, let alone die. Over the course of the entire pandemic, there have been only 287 COVID-19 deaths among those 17 and under in the U.S., out of a population of 56 million. That’s one death out of every 200,000 children. That qualifies as a mild flu season. Specifically, between the 2012 and 2020 flu seasons, the median number of deaths for ages 17 and under was 456, according to an analysis of CDC data.

The number of COVID-19 deaths was lower than flu deaths in five of those eight years. This, even though the COVID-19 number counts all deaths since the start of the pandemic last March, while the flu numbers apply only to each flu season and thus cover shorter periods.

At no point in those previous years were children required to wear masks at school, let alone at outdoor summer camps while doing heavy exercise in extreme heat. There is no reason to require them to do so now…”

In a related item forwarded by James Nichols, it comes as no surprise new research suggests the number of kids hospitalized for COVID has been overcounted, and as Brit Hume notes, NOT by just a little, but a LOT!

The American Medical Association Now Has a Plan to ‘Embed Racial Justice

The American Medical Association announced its “anti-racist” plan last week to “embed racial justice” in the medical community.

“Fulfilling the AMA’s mission to promote the art and science of medicine and the betterment of public health requires an unwavering commitment to equity and a comprehensive strategy for embedding racial and social justice within our organization and domains of influence,” the AMA says in introducing its three-year plan.

The organization notes that it will “aggressively push” five strategic approaches to reach health equity—”embed equity in practice, process, action, innovation, and organizational performance and outcomes; build alliances and share power via meaningful engagement; ensure equity in innovation for marginalized and minoritized people and communities; push upstream to address all determinants of health; and foster truth, reconciliation, racial healing, and transformation.”

Sorry, but what the heck does such gobbledegook even mean?!?

The 86-page report titled “Organizational Strategic Plan to Embed Racial Justice and Advance Health Equity,” discusses the need to use critical race and intersectionality theories. Additionally, in an effort to reach equitable solutions in healthcare, the AMA states one goal as “ensuring just representation” of persons of color in medical school admissions, medical schools, and hospital leadership.

It goes on to reject the notion of meritocracy, particularly in medical schools and teaching hospitals. “The commonly held narrative of meritocracy is the idea that people are successful purely because of their individual effort,” the AMA states. “Medical education has largely been based on such flawed meritocratic ideals, and it will take intentional focus and effort to recognize, review and revise this deeply flawed interpretation.”…”

Get it?  You people who hold success results solely from individual effort need to get your minds right.  Besides, it’s not like anyone in the AMA hierarchy will ever use the services of doctors who got their MD as a result of their skin color or racial ancestry.

That the report goes on to acknowledge we are all living off “the taken ancestral lands of Indigenous peoples for thousands of years”, “the extraction of brilliance, energy and life for labor forced upon people of African descent for more than 400 years”, as well as collectively celebrating “the resilience and strength that all Indigenous people and descendants of Africa have shown in this country and worldwide” is simply the icing on this incredibly politically-correct, Socialist woke cake.

Our advice?  It’s May 21st, 2021: When the time comes, never utilize the services of any medical professional of color who began practicing after May 22nd, 2028.

Moving on, we offer seven items specially selected to stir the senses of inquiring Conservative minds:

(1). Townhall.com‘s Leah Barkoukis provides a 30-second snippet of a phone call between the IDF an a Gazan which reveals the entire conflict in a nutshell.

(2). FOX is reporting Kommielaa keeps her assets in a tax-advantaged trust, violating a pledge from old 46* himself he’d require any member of his Administration who is a beneficiary of a such a discretionary trust to disclose all of its holdings.

(3). We’ll say this for mayor Lori Lightfoot: At least she’s honest enough to let White Chicagoans know where they stand.  As we note each and every time such blatant bias bubbles to the surface, had the respective races been reversed, Lightfoot would have already have been run out of town on a rail.

(4). Since we mentioned taking sides, Townhall.com‘s Katie Pavlich tells us Black Lies Matter has firmly sided with the Iranian-backed Hamas terrorists over the only functioning democracy in the Middle East.  Let’s see if this is enough to put a damper on corporate support for these Marxist real estate magnates.

(5). As a forward from Keith Calcote informs us, by affording a Russian pipeline consideration he refused a domestic equivalent, the hyper-hypocritical 46* demonstrated not only are some pipelines more equal than others, but the cancellation of the Keystone XL had NOTHING to do with protecting the environment.  Any chance Hunter or another member of the Biden criminal family profited from its Don’s decision?

(6). The WSJ‘s Kim Strassel highlights how passing the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act—a sweeping bill that would empower unions to force Americans into their ranks by nullifying all 27 state right-to work laws, strip companies of basic rights to make the case to employees against unionization campaigns, give the NLRB power to impose sweeping fines on supposed corporate labor violations, outlaw most independent contractors AND let unions bully workers into agreeing to unions via public “card check” pledges rather than secret ballots is the ONLY measure by which Big Labor will assess this Congress and the 46* Administration.

Only problem is, Mark Warner, Gabby Gifford’s husband and Kyrsten Sinema haven’t signed on.  And because the PRO Act, unlike so much of 46*’s uncontrolled spending agenda, is entirely about labor policy, it’s unlikely to meet the threshold for 51-vote “budget reconciliation” status, meaning proponents will need 60 highly-unlikely votes in the Senate to override a Republican filibuster, let alone a SCOTUS challenge to federal intrusion into the rights of states.

Which explains 46*’s plan of trying to include it in “infrastructure” bill.

(7). While American children remained masked and many of their parents struggle to pay their bills, the clown car that is the 46* Administration is flying young illegals to different parts of the country in the dead of night courtesy of the American taxpayer, just like the pallets of cash The Obamao sent to Iran as ransom.

Nothing to hide here, America…just ignore it.

Which brings us, appropriately enough, to The Lighter Side:

Then there’s these from Ed Hickey…

…Speed…

…and Breeze:

Finally, we’ll call it a week with two titillating tales torn from the pages of The Crime Blotter, both involving dimensionally-challenged women and both which brought a number of thoughts and questions immediately to mind.  First, a rather randy 250-lb…

Florida woman allegedly crashes children’s birthday party, rapes teen

“…Good had been out drinking with a friend before crashing the celebration for another teen on May 9 when her buddy went to bed, authorities said. “After returning home intoxicated, Good continued to ‘hang out’ with the juveniles while allegedly making extremely inappropriate sexual comments and providing the 17-year-old victim with alcohol,” sheriff officials said in a statement.

A 12-year-old girl at the party told deputies she was asleep on a bean bag in the home when she was awoken by sounds of two people having sex. The girl, who was just a foot away from Good and the 17-year-old, said the teen whispered to her to help him, according to an arrest report obtained by the Port Charlotte Sun.

The boy later told deputies that Good forced herself on him after he fell asleep, claiming he was unable to push the woman off him due to her size, the arrest report states. Good is listed at 250 pounds in jail records. At one point, the boy got up to use the bathroom, where he vomited, the 12-year-old girl told deputies. The pair continued having sex and Good then got her belongings and left the home, according to the report.

Good told investigators she had “blacked out” and claimed to not remember most of the illicit sexual contact, the arrest report states…”

Soooo,…(i) Guess it couldn’t have been THAT good; (ii) Where were the parents?!?; (iii) How does a 12-year-old know what sex sounds like?; and, (iv) If the 17-year-old boy wanted help, why did he go back for more after hitting the head?

In our second sordid story, a 5’4″, 150-lb Brittany Kennedy (no relation to the Hyannisport Kennedys, though given the way their men get around anything’s possible) is sought after being filmed giving this…

Wild beatdown at Little Caesars in Georgia

Soooo,…(i) While we initially wondered why someone present didn’t intervene on the victim’s behalf, after viewing the males in the video we wondered no longer; (ii) We can only imagine the quality of the “man” who fathered these women’s children; (iii) The fact a mugshot of the young Ms. Kennedy was already available for publication tells us…

…this wasn’t her first rodeo, so here’s hoping the justice system makes certain it’s her last; and, (iv) Both these stories teach us whatever our circumstances, things could always be worse…much worse.

BTW, here’s an alternate approach to a similar problem taken by more civic-minded citizens:
