Removal is expected to begin as early as Friday, July 9th and conclude within three days, weather permitting.
“USCP will continue to monitor intelligence information and the associated threat environment. The Architect of the Capitol has the ability to and will expeditiously reinstall the temporary fencing should conditions warrant.
“Although the temporary fencing will be removed, current building access restrictions will remain in place.” (Emphasis added).
Well, excuse me for not cheering. That fence should never have been put up around the world’s greatest temple of democratic deliberation in the first place. “The balance of opposition to critical race theory in schools is not led by people who have an alternative comprehensive vision of education and schooling. It’s led primarily by people who, inchoately and inconsistently, believe in John Dewey’s vision for public schooling as an institution meant to mutually assimilate diverse children to each other, and to provide a civic and social touchstone. They want school to give their kids a few critical skills, extracurriculars to support the development of character, to prepare the brightest pupils for college, to give all students a basic familiarity with each other, and to inculcate broad allegiance to a loosely defined American civic creed.
But an allegiance to even a loosely defined American civic creed can only be the product of a broad consensus about the goodness of America itself, the basic terms of the American project of self-government, and the like. Political polarization is dissolving that consensus. Progressives, who have disproportionate representation in the culture-forming institutions of schools and mass media, have abandoned the broad center for their transformative agenda.

Thus reads a note sent in 1989 to the U.S. Forest Service by Tracy Stone-Manning, now President Biden’s nominee to run the Bureau of Land Management.
Presidents are generally entitled to personnel picks. An exception might be a nominee who ran with eco-terrorists—who collaborated with Earth First! saboteurs, known for spiking trees to halt timber sales, and who misled senators about the nature of her involvement.
Mr. Biden put Ms. Stone-Manning forward in April, and she isn’t new to politics. The environmental radical has worked for Sen. Jon Tester and former Gov. Steve Bullock of Montana, and more recently at the National Wildlife Federation. She’s spent a lifetime protesting fossil-fuel production, logging, mining and public access to federal land.
The Earth First! story also isn’t new, though over the years Ms. Stone-Manning crafted a heroic version. In that tale, told in various forums over the years, she was an innocent graduate student at the University of Montana in Missoula. In 1989, a “frankly, frightening” and “disturbed person” from Earth First! asked her to mail a warning letter about tree spiking, which is designed to kill or maim loggers and mill workers. She agreed, because “she didn’t want anybody getting hurt.” In 1993 she nobly testified against the spikers, helping send two to prison. A Biden official said that Ms. Stone-Manning has always been “honest and transparent” about her history.
Hardly. Public documents obtained by the Journal tell the real story…”

Meanwhile, we’re not aware of a single person who’s been jailed in connection with the arson, looting and rioting inspired by and involving Antifa and Black Lies Matter. …the description of the killer was woefully insufficient. Meet Bryan Rhoden, who’s subsequently been arrested for the triple homicide. Now consider the portrayal of the suspected perp authorities published prior to Rhoden’s arrest and tell us what’s missing:
“The suspect was described as 6-foot-1 with long hair, wearing a white or light-colored shirt and dark work pants, the newspaper reported.”
Turns out not only was Rhoden jailed on DUI charges the night of shootings and released two days before he was charged with the murders, he was was arrested almost a year ago in Indiana following a high-speed chase before being released on a $5,000 bond. So, for whatever reason, Rhoden wasn’t incarcerated despite facing a Level 6 felony of resisting law enforcement, as well as aggressive driving, a Class A misdemeanor, and reckless driving, a Class C misdemeanor, yet remained free to kill three innocent individuals.
Thus the security of the nation’s law-abiding citizenry is subject to the Progressive-imagined “rights” of criminals and the mentally ill.
And Ashli Babbitt’s killer remains unidentified and uncharged.
