It’s Friday, September 26th, 2014…and here’s The Gouge!

First up, Frank Salvato, editor of The New Media Journal, speaks for us:

Good Riddance to a Race-Baiting Divider

eric-holder-cartoon

Attorney General Eric Holder, the first Black man to be appointed as United States Attorney General, has resigned. Americans who suffered the slings and arrows of rising above the racial divide since – and before – the enactment of Civil Rights legislation are jubilant in his departure. Never before has an Attorney General belittled the American citizenry as Mr. Holder has in his comments on racism. Never before has an Attorney General abused the power of his office as Mr. Holder has in the pursuit of racial retribution. And never before has an Attorney General overseen such an aggressive division of our citizenry based on race as has Mr, Holder. To put it directly, Mr. Holder, don’t let the door smack you in your racist behind as you leave. I was raised in the 1960s and 1970s. My parents taught me, in no uncertain terms, to consider individuals through a lens that evaluated their character, not their skin color. When I didn’t, my attitude was “adjusted” and I am thankful for their unyielding insistence on that issue.

Gee…Holder’s sudden departure couldn’t have anything to do with this late-breaking development:

We can only hope Holder, along with his criminal co-conspirator, ultimately receives his just desserts:

For more on the subject of race-baiting dividers, we turn now to the latest from Joe Curl in The Washington Times, who details…

Obama’s breathtaking naivete at the United Nations

neighborcopy

“President Obama on Wednesday delivered a speech at the United Nations filled with his usual soaring rhetoric of global collectivism and the importance of “international norms.” But the president also displayed a shocking naivete about global affairs, religion, Islam — a Pollyannaish interpretation on the state of the world and America’s role in it.

To Mr. Obama, there’s no global conflict of ideology, just “pervasive unease in our world.” To him, the strife is merely the “failure of our international system to keep pace with an interconnected world.” And to him, “it is one of the tasks of all great religions to accommodate devout faith with a modern, multicultural world.”

He asked delegates from nations across the world to mull this “central question of our global age: Whether we will solve our problems together, in a spirit of mutual interest and mutual respect, or whether we descend into the destructive rivalries of the past.” His answer? “It’s time for a broader negotiation in the region in which major powers address their differences directly, honestly, and peacefully across the table from one another, rather than through gun-wielding proxies.”

lunapic_132407321111871_1

Simply believing something doesn’t make it so. The president’s desire for a world in which nations talk openly about their true feelings, perhaps share a good cry together, and sing kumbaya around the campfire, is the height of naivete.

So is this passage of his speech: ” … the United States is not and never will be at war with Islam. Islam teaches peace. Muslims the world over aspire to live with dignity and a sense of justice. And when it comes to America and Islam, there is no us and them, there is only us.”…”

“There is only us“?!? Bull…

SH*T!!!

In a related item exposing the utter idiocy behind The Dear Misleader’s continued inability…or deliberate refusal…to acknowledge evil when it’s staring him in the face, The Washington Free Beacon notes…

Obama Praises Muslim Cleric Who Backed Fatwa on Killing of U.S. Soldiers

Controversial cleric gets nod in Obama’s speech at the United Nations

Who-knew-Obama-was-an-Islamic-scholar

“…Patrick Poole, a reporter and terrorism analyst who has long tracked Bin Bayyah, expressed shock that the Obama administration would endorse the cleric on the world stage. “It is simply amazing that just a few months ago the State Department had to publicly apologize for tweeting out it’s support for Bin Bayyah, only to have Barack Obama go before the leaders of the entire world and publicly endorse Bin Bayyah’s efforts,” Poole said.

“It seems that nothing can stop this administration’s determination to rehabilitate Bin Bayyah’s image, transforming him from the Islamic cleric who issued the fatwa to kill Americans in Iraq and calling for the death of Jews to the de facto White House Islamic mufti,” he said…

Submitted for your perusal, five of Bin Bayyah’s greatest hits:

None of which sounds even remotely moderate to us; but none of which prevented Bin Bayyah from receiving…

…a respectful White House reception.  Almost makes one wonder whose side this White House is on!

Then again, The Obamao isn’t the only world leader using carefully worded phrases to equate Islamic extremism to those teaching the Biblical view of homosexuality as sin:

Thus Jews and Christians peacefully practicing their religion are placed on a par with Islamic terrorists like ISIS.  If you didn’t hear it, you need to listen again…more closely.

Next up, a most excellent piece by Hisham Melham in Politico, courtesy of Balls Cotton:

The Barbarians Within Our Gates

Arab civilization has collapsed. It won’t recover in my lifetime.

FootofIslam

“…The jihadists of the Islamic State, in other words, did not emerge from nowhere. They climbed out of a rotting, empty hulk—what was left of a broken-down civilization. They are a gruesome manifestation of a deeper malady afflicting Arab political culture, which was stagnant, repressive and patriarchal after the decades of authoritarian rule that led to the disastrous defeat in the 1967 war with Israel. That defeat sounded the death knell of Arab nationalism and the resurgence of political Islam, which projected itself as the alternative to the more secular ideologies that had dominated the Arab republics since the Second World War. If Arab decline was the problem, then “Islam is the solution,” the Islamists said—and they believed it.

noexcuse

At their core, both political currents—Arab nationalism and Islamism—are driven by atavistic impulses and a regressive outlook on life that is grounded in a mostly mythologized past. Many Islamists, including Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood (the wellspring of such groups)—whether they say it explicitly or hint at it—are still on a ceaseless quest to resurrect the old Ottoman Caliphate. Still more radical types—the Salafists—yearn for a return to the puritanical days of Prophet Muhammad and his companions. For most Islamists, democracy means only majoritarian rule, and the rule of sharia law, which codifies gender inequality and discrimination against non-Muslims.

And let’s face the grim truth: There is no evidence whatever that Islam in its various political forms is compatible with modern democracy

That bears repeating: There is no evidence whatever that Islam in its various political forms is compatible with modern democracy.

Then there’s this rather intriguing and important question raised by Michael Rubin writing at AEI:

Are the Iraqi Kurds really pro-American?

000_ts-nic63599

“It’s hard not to fall in love with Iraqi Kurdistan. The land is beautiful and the people resilient despite the blows history has delivered them. For some retired generals, colonels, and diplomats, the money that the newly oil-rich Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) dangles in front of them can also be alluring. But does that make the KRG pro-American?

It’s easy to come away charmed, but it’s also crucial to recognize that the KRG likes to be all things to all people. KRG officials may tell American journalists and diplomats what they want to hear, but what they say to other audiences can be just as important

Particularly as these “other audiences” include the Iranians.  The age-old philosophy the “enemy of enemy is my friend” works only so as the status quo remains unchanged.  And in the ever-shifting sands of Middle Eastern politics, where the only value Muslims throughout the region share is an implacable hatred for Israel, it never lasts for long.

Turning now to the Health Section, courtesy of the WSJ, Dr. Paul Offit describes…

The Anti-Vaccination Epidemic

Whooping cough, mumps and measles are making an alarming comeback, thanks to seriously misguided parents.

images

“…Who is choosing not to vaccinate? The answer is surprising. The area with the most cases of whooping cough in California is Los Angeles County, and no group within that county has lower immunization rates than residents living between Malibu and Marina Del Ray, home to some of the wealthiest and most exclusive suburbs in the country. At the Kabbalah Children’s Academy in Beverly Hills, 57% of children are unvaccinated. At the Waldorf Early Childhood Center in Santa Monica, it’s 68%, according to the Hollywood Reporter’s analysis of public-health data.

These are the kind of immunization rates that can be found in Chad or South Sudan. But parents in Beverly Hills and Santa Monica see vaccines as unnatural—something that conflicts with their healthy lifestyle. And they have no problem finding fringe pediatricians willing to cater to their irrational beliefs…

The very definition of Educated Idiots; and, we’d be willing to bet, almost all, if not exclusively Dimocrats!

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, as the WSJ‘s Allysia Finley reports, The Gang Who Still Can’t Shoot Straight is once again demonstrating their errant marksmanship:

Stingy Republican Lawmakers

images

“…Mr. Shelby has amassed $17.8 million in his war chest, according to his campaign committee’s second-quarter filing with the Federal Election Commission. His committee has spent about $179,000 this cycle, which includes $4,400 at the Senate Gift Shop and $1,000 at Chick-fil-A. That’s a lot of cole slaw and chicken nuggets. The Senate baron has also rung up $10,400 at Capitol Hill’s posh private 116 Club.

Yet the 80-year-old incumbent has donated a mere $17,400 from his cash pile for the National Republican Senatorial Committee in a year where Senate control hangs in the balance. The fifth-term senator doesn’t face voters for another two years and hasn’t had a formidable challenge since his election in 1986. It’s plausible that Mr. Shelby is hoarding the cash in anticipation of a primary challenge.

But Mr. Shelby could surely do more to help out his party colleagues—and his own chances of becoming Banking Committee chairman—by sticking more into the collection basket. He might need their support if he draws a primary challenge in 2016.

Then again, it’s equally as plausible Mr. Shelby might be, as are so many in Congress, a self-centered egotist concerned solely with his personal political survival rather than the best interests of his party, let alone his country.  Just a thought!

Finally, on the Lighter Side…
