It’s Wednesday, May 17th, 2023…but before we begin, writing at Townhall.com, Kurt Schlichter offers a tough-love solution to the problems Progressives’ urban policies produced and perpetuate:

Let the Blue Cities Die

“The Democrat cities are urine-soaked hellholes that reek of pot where criminals stalk unmolested while the full fury of what is supposed to be the law hangs over the head of any citizen who dares do something about it, and that’s good. The idiots who live there voted for turning their urban landscapes into petri dishes of social pathologies, and they should enjoy the full benefits of their decisions. We normal people should avoid these socialist wastelands and elect legislators to Congress who will starve them of the federal funds that enable their decline. In red states, our legislators should wage warfare on the blue tumors in their midst lest they metastasize outside the city limits. And we should ruthlessly point to them as the future Democrats want, which they are, a vision of a psychotic hobo taking a dump on the sidewalk out in front of your house forever.

Us normal people can’t help the cities and their moron populations because they don’t want to help themselves. We tried compassion. Now let’s try compression. Let’s squeeze them until they pop, like the pimple on America’s rear end that they are.

We used to love going to New York City. It was like Vegas for people who don’t play slots. The excitement, the food, the energy – there was no other place quite like it. And now there is no place like it at all, because the corpse of the Big Apple that we enjoyed visiting was rotting even last year when we swung through on a book tour. The people, at least the normal ones, were missing – it looked empty somehow. But what it lacked in people it made up in dank clouds of weed smoke. The whole place smelled like a dorm at Rasta U. Junkies, bums, derelicts, and other key Democrat demographics loitered on the streets; the cops seemed to have simply checked out. But who can blame them? The Soros DAs, the slack-jawed electorate elected won’t charge anyone anyway unless he’s a political enemy or a normal person trying to protect New Yorkers from one of the myriad freaks the city fetishizes and indulges.

As in California, all the good ones are leaving. There are a lot of complaints about blue state denizens shifting to red places and bringing their clown show politics with them, but in my experience it’s the red people who are saying “The hell with this” and checking out. The poor libs can’t move and the rich ones don’t need totheir little enclaves are relatively safe. The subways may be a concrete jungle where freaks with meat cleavers wander and you might get pushed into an oncoming train by some schizo with 100 arrests and no real jail time on his rap sheet, but the cops are still empowered to act in the well-heeled precincts. People ask how I can stay in LA, but I’m not actually in LA – I’m in a city by the beach where the cops actually cop. The chaos is for the poors on the uncool side of the 405; my neighbors vote for Ted Lieu and let the consequences of their moral preening fall on the people who don’t work via Zoom.

Our job as conservatives is not to fix the blue cities for the sake of their inhabitants. Those dummies should suffer the consequences of their actions. Let them dodge bum spoor on the sidewalks, let them walk in fear of the unhoused who would be housed in asylums or dungeons in a civilized metropolis. Our job is to contain the infected blue cities, to keep their poison from spreading to the rest of the country. And one way to do that is to mercilessly use them as an example of what all of America would be like if the Lori Lightfoots of the Democrat Party got their way. Make no mistake – they want to impose the same foul chaos on the rest of us, but the good news is that normal people are still disgusted and repelled by the dystopian dysfunction. The dogma that created failed cities should be the cautionary example we cite endlessly and tirelessly as the alternative to our Republican freedom, security, and prosperity agenda.

Of course, the regime media will slobber all over their Democrat masters trying to cover up the truth – look at all of them earnestly explaining that the subway system is actually very safe and the real problem is that you people just hate the differently mentally because you are racist and you should ignore the guy threatening to stab you because of equity and shut up, white privilege wielders of all colors. But we all know the truth. We’ve all passed the encampments of needle-jockeys and lunatics that blight the urban landscape. We’ve all seen the filth. We have all inhaled the rancid odor of civilizational collapse. Hell, even the Republicans could sell the alternative. What the Democrats offer is just that bad.

Let’s get the idea of helping the blue cities out of our heads, though. There is no helping those who will not help themselves. They vote for these people. They choose this. Let them backstroke through the cesspool of their own creation. Our first job is containment. We need to keep the cancer from spreading. We do that by holding the blue cities up as the alternative to us in all their stinking glory. Then, wherever we have sufficient political power, we must strangle the cities. Money funds this all, our money. We must cut off their money, employing the same tough love strategy used by the mom of an indolent 25-year old who sits down in the basement playing Legend of Zelda and taking bong hits all day instead of getting a job. The cities live on our subsidies – much of the business they had has left for less scummy climes, and they survive on our collective largesse to fuel their addiction to socialism. Make them further cannibalize the last remaining muscle to feed the socialist fat, and thereby drive the remaining productive out.

Heighten the contradictions. Make it all worse. That’s the only way of ever making it better. The pain must be so great that the denizens fire the Democrats – remember how the New Yorkers finally turned to Rudy and he turned the Big Apple into a showplace? It can be done, but only agony will provoke it, so agony they must have. Let the cities die, and maybe they will live again. But even if they don’t, okay, fine. It’s not our problem. At least they won’t infect the rest of us.”

Though a mite harsh…

Now here’s The Gouge!

First up, as Jonathan Turley relates at The Messenger, the…

Durham Report Condemns the FBI’s Russia Probe — But* Don’t Expect It to Make a Difference

* We added the asterisk; more on that shortly.

Yes, in what will come as no surprise to any sentient human, the long, long, long-awaited the Durham report has ultimately determined the DOJ and FBI did not have “any actual evidence of collusion” between Russian officials and the 2016 Trump campaign before beginning their Crossfire Hurricane probe, and that, “Based on the review of Crossfire Hurricane and related intelligence activities, we conclude that the (Justice) Department and FBI failed to uphold their important mission of strict fidelity to the law in connection with certain events and activities described in this report.”

NRO reports, “Durham scolded the agencies for failing to “uphold their important mission of strict fidelity to the law” as part of their investigation.”  Hey, nothing like a good scolding to make deep state apparatchiks straighten up and fly right?!?

Consider this rather half-hearted mea culpa from one member of the MSM who was aboard the collusion train when it first left the station:

Andy McCarthy puts this whole unconstitutional affair in proper perspective when he finds it “impossible to draw any other conclusion than that the FBI, and the Obama administration more broadly, did not IGNORE the intelligence about Clinton’s strategy but rather that the law-enforcement and intelligence apparatus of the United States government knowingly ABETTED Clinton’s implementation of the strategy.

* Back to the “but” in Turley’s headline to which we added an asterisk: Despite the Bureau issuing a brief statement assuring the nation it’s already fixed what’s wrong

“The conduct in 2016 and 2017 that Special Counsel Durham examined was the reason that current FBI leadership already implemented dozens of corrective actions, which have now been in place for some time. Had those reforms been in place in 2016, the missteps identified in the report could have been prevented. This report reinforces the importance of ensuring the FBI continues to do its work with the rigor, objectivity, and professionalism the American people deserve and rightly expect.”

…as this item forwarded by Jeff Foutch confirms, Turley’s skepticism is well-founded, as the Deep State doesn’t change:

FBI Asks Judge to Delay Seth Rich Laptop Release for 66 Years

“The FBI is asking a federal court to reverse its order that demanded the bureau to disclose information from a laptop belonging to Seth Rich. If the judge refuses, the FBI has asked for a delay of 66 years. Rich was working as a staffer for the Democratic National Committee when he was shot and killed on a Washington D.C. street in 2016. No arrests have ever been made in connection with the Rich killing.

U.S. District Judge Amos Mazzant, an Obama appointee, ruled in September that the bureau must hand over information from the computer to Brian Huddleston, who filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request for the information. The FBI asserted that a release would violate the privacy of Rich’s family members. Their assertion that these privacy interests outweighed public interest in the Seth Rich murder was ultimately denied by Mazzant, who ordered disclosure. Mazzant stated that the bureau failed to cite any relevant case law in their request.

In a new filing, U.S. lawyers are arguing that FOIA exemptions for information that are compiled for law enforcement purposes and “could reasonably be expected to disclose the identity of a confidential source,” should be withheld. “Given the Court’s findings that except for the information related to Seth Rich’s laptop withheld pursuant to Exemptions 6 and 7(C) based on privacy interests, the FBI properly withheld or redacted all other information responsive to Huddleston’s requests, the production order seems inconsistent with the rest of the order,” the motion stated.

The FBI previously claimed that it was not in possession of Seth Rich’s laptop, or any information from it. Then, in 2020, the bureau admitted that it had several thousand files from the computer…”

First its a concern over the Rich family’s privacy; Then it’s about the possibility the identity of a confidential source might be disclosed.  First they don’t have the laptop or any information from it; Then they admit to being in possession of several thousand files.  All of which fairly screams the question whether anyone in the FBI capable of telling the truth?!?

And leading Best of the Web to conclude

“As a very modest first step in limiting the ability of the rogue agencies to abuse our constitutional rights again in 2024, Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy (R., Calif.) should demand significant FBI and CIA budget cuts, including defunding any offices that have participated in any efforts to influence what is reported and shared in U.S. media.”

Sorry, but both organizations need to be disbanded, torn apart and rebuilt from the ground up with significant limitations imposed on their powers, one of which is the statutory inability to withhold information from congressional oversight.  Otherwise, we’re well on the road to becoming a banana republic.

Trump hits DeSantis on abortion, suggests 6-week abortion limit is ‘too harsh

“Former President Trump attacked Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for his abortion stance on Monday, suggesting in an interview that Florida’s six-week restriction was “too harsh.” Trump made the statement in a wide-ranging interview with The Messenger published on Monday. Trump refused to elaborate on his own stance regarding abortion, however, instead claiming to have heard that pro-life voters opposed DeSantis’ bill.

“He has to do what he has to do,” Trump said when asked about Florida’s abortion rules. “If you look at what DeSantis did, a lot of people don’t even know if he knew what he was doing. But he signed six weeks, and many people within the pro-life movement feel that that was too harsh.”

When asked about whether he would support restrictions on abortions after six weeks of pregnancy, Trump replied, “I’m looking at all options.”…”

“Too harsh”: on who?!?  Certainly not a 13-week-old unborn baby…

…such as our first grandchild shown in an ultrasound taken just this week.  Yes, Donald, even your cold, calculating heart functioned at this point.

And nothing whatsoever prevents women intent on murdering their children traveling to Blue states which will welcome the chance to assist them.

Meanwhile, DeSantis keeps doing what DeSantis does, signing legislation prohibiting state-funded colleges and universities from spending money on diversity, equity, and inclusion programs as well as barring the infusion of critical race theory and related grievance politics ideologies into curricula for general education courses.

Witness who called for gun control in aftermath of Texas mall shooting lied about his actions

Police say Steven Spainhouer contributed to spreading ‘misinformation’ about the Texas mall shooting

“A witness to the Allen, Texas, mall shooting who has called for gun control in the aftermath of the tragedy has had his account disputed by Texas police, who say he has spread “misinformation” in multiple media interviews. Steven Spainhouer, who has identified himself as a former Army officer, gave multiple media outlets a dramatic account of the Texas mall shooting earlier this month, saying he showed up at the mall before police and first responders to begin administering aid to shooting victims.

According to CBS News, Spainhouer said he arrived at the scene after receiving a call from his son about hearing gunfire on the property. When he arrived, the former officer said he gave first aid and performed CPR on shooting victims, including one girl who “had no face” and a young boy covered “head to toe” in blood who was hiding under the body of his dead mother.

However, Spainhouer’s dramatic retelling of the events has been disputed by the Allen Police Department, who released a statement on Friday claiming that he was not a “credible” witness. “Allen Police Department wants to inform the public of discrepancies with statements made by a witness to several media outlets. Following the shooting at Allen Premium Outlets, Mr. Steven Spainhouer of McKinney, Texas gave multiple public accounts of his actions,” the police statement said. “Inconsistencies between these public accounts and investigative facts led Allen Police Department to conduct a follow-up interview. During this interview, detectives determined that Mr. Spainhouer is not a credible incident witness.”

The police response comes after Spainhouer made multiple appearances not only recounting his version of events, but calling for gun control legislation in response to the shooting. In an interview with MSNBC, Spainhouer said that he is a “someone who loves” guns but believed there needed to be “federal and state level” gun control. “When you get hit with an automatic weapon fire at close range, there is no opportunity for survival,” Spainhouer told MSNBC. “I don’t know what the gunman’s problem was, but it wasn’t mental health that killed these people. It was an automatic rifle with bullets.”

Three things immediately come to mind: (i) It was a semi-automatic rifle, not an automatic, a mistake no former Army officer and supposed gun-lover would make; (ii) How can Spainhouer have been a witness when by his own admission he showed up after the fact?; and, (iii) How on earth could he have gotten a call from his son and still showed up faster than the police and first responders?

And it can only be coincidence…

…Spainhouer’s a Dimocrat.

Since we’re on the subject of Dimocrats, in Minneapolis…

Democratic Party city council convention descends into ‘complete chaos’

Keep in mind, this was over a council seat in an incredibly Socialist city.

Moving on, here’s another sextet of special selections certain to pique the interest of inquiring Conservative minds:

(1). Meet the definition of delusional:

Not just him, but the people who continue to support him.

(2). In another insult to law enforcement, at the very last minute Biden canceled a speech he was scheduled to deliver honoring fallen officers to kick off National Police Week, choosing instead to attend his granddaughter’s graduation at the University of Pennsylvania.  Maybe Joe was looking for some of those classified documents he left in the Biden Center.  No word on whether he drove the ’67 Vette.

Adding insult to fatal injury, the Windy City’s new mayor issued a special inaugural expression of contempt for his city’s already-demoralized police force, drawing an incredibly insensitive comparison between the recent execution of a Chicago cop to the completely justified 2021 shooting death of an armed teen by police.

(3). Jim Geraghty suggests, and with good reason…

…”Biden’s reelection bid is a direct consequence of Harris’s disappointing performance as vice president, and Democrats’ widespread fear that she wouldn’t win if she was atop the ticket in 2024.”

(4). In the fourth installment of his series detailing the insanity sweeping Ontario’s public schools (you can find the first three here, here and here), NRO‘s Ari Blaff explains how it came to be a teacher was allowed to sport giant fake breasts in shop class, which is particularly intriguing when the individual in question is frequently seen dressed as a man sans boobs away from school.

(5). Speaking of insanity, Gavin Newsom’s Reparations Task Force…

…is now demanding the California legislature require all cities and counties with allegedly (Talk about a loophole you could drive a truck through!) segregated neighborhoods to submit all their real estate ordinances to a state agency for approval based on whether they maintain or lessen “residential racial segregation.”

(6). Firebrand informs us PETA, not content to just worship the creation rather than the Creator, has moved up to blasphemy, having teamed with an AI program to rewrite the book of Genesis.  Changes include Enosh living not 905 years, but a mere 50 because, as the Bible according to PETA states, “Enosh consumed the flesh of animals and thereby committed the ultimate sin, leading to a shortened life of shame, weakness, ignorance, and illness.”  As the article notes, “By far the best part of the entire book is God’s quips during the six days of creation in which he says, “Let there be Meatless Monday!””

Which brings us, appropriately enough, to The Lighter Side:

Then there’s these from the lovely Shannon…

…along with five from The Patriot Post:

Finally, we’ll call it a wrap with yet another sordid story straight from the pages of The Crime Blotter, and this just in from the Lone Star State, as a…

Texas child, 12, fatally shoots fast-food employee with AR-15 rifle, charged with murder

“A Texas 12 year old is accused of killing a fast-food employee with an AR-15 rifle as he argued with another man, who also faces charges in the fatal shooting, authorities said. The shooting happened Saturday night at a Sonic drive-in restaurant in the Dallas suburb of Keene, the Keene Police Department said. Officers arrived and found Matthew Davis, 32, with multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to a hospital where he died.

Authorities believe Angel Gomez, 20, was at the Sonic with passengers in his vehicle. He began arguing and acting disorderly in the parking lot and was confronted by Davis, a Sonic employee, police said. Gomez was allegedly urinating in the back of the parking lot when Davis came to talk to him, Fox Dallas reported. During the argument, the 12-year-old shooting suspect, who was a passenger in Gomez’s vehicle and remains unidentified, grabbed the AR-15 rifle from the car and opened fire, authorities said. Davis was shot.

The child and Gomez fled the area. Gomez later returned to the scene and was arrested. The boy was later arrested at a home and several firearms were recovered, police said. Both are charged with murder…”

To put truth to the lie our old friend Steven Spainhouer spun in response to the Texas mall murders…

…we don’t know what the gunman’s problem was, but it wasn’t an automatic rifle with bullets that killed Matthew Davis, but rather a pair of soulless, evil individuals headed for Hell.
