It’s Friday, May 31st, 2019…but before we begin, when facts belie the lies, Progressives invariably refuse to address the facts, as is evidenced by the destruction “left”…

In AOC’s Wake

She advocates ‘policies that led to one of her former employers shutting down its business.’

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D, N.Y.) is set to bartend again for a day to advocate for policies that led to one of her former employers shutting down its business. The freshman congresswoman will return to her district in New York City this Friday to “pour a few pints” and push for the federal Raise the Wage Act while showing support for “abolishing below-minimum wage” for tipped workers in the state, the New York Daily News reports

Charles Milite, co-founder of the Coffee Shop, where Ocasio-Cortez previously worked, said that the increased minimum wage to $15 per hour for businesses with more than 11 employees led him and his partners to reevaluate their business and shut it down. “I know it doesn’t sound like much$2 an hour,” Milite told Crains New York Business in April. “But when you multiply it by 40 hours, by 130 people, it becomes a big number. It was going to increase our monthly payroll $46,000.”

New York City restaurants saw nearly a 2 percent job loss last year—the city’s first loss in the sector in two decades

All businesses in the city must pay their employees the increased $15 per hour wage after December 31 of this year

Ocasio-Cortez’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Nor is her office likely to any time soon.  Make that any time ever!

Speaking of AOC, she was featured in a Memorial Day tribute by the Fresno Grizzlies, the Nationals‘ farm club in the Pacific Cost League.  Don’t blink at the 3:07 mark or you’ll miss her.

The team apologized multiple times for the video, explaining…

The video was not produced, created or commissioned by the Fresno Grizzlies. It was carelessly taken from YouTube. There are multiple versions of this video available on the internet, the version that our employee selected contained offensive content. (Certainly not offensive to us, as we found it a completely appropriate comparison!) The airing of the video in the ballpark was the result of an unintentional oversight by an employee who did not view the video in its entirety. The employee responsible has been reprimanded by the organization.

Not fired, thankfully, just reprimanded.  Still, according to the Fresno Bee, Sun-Maid announced it was ending its partnership with the Grizzlies.

Consequently, we have ended our partnership with Sun-Maid…and we would urge you to do the same.  And though raisins certainly don’t grow on trees, Sun-Maid ain’t the only one makin’ them!

Now, here’s The Gouge!

First up, we present the utter illogic and complete incongruity which characterized Robert Mueller’s farewell address, expressed in three succint quotes:

“If we had had confidence that the president clearly did not commit a crime, we would have said that,” Mueller said. “We did not determine whether the president did commit a crime.”

“…it would be unfair to accuse someone of a crime when there could be no court resolution of the charge.”

There’s no shortage of excellent analyses on the final salvo Mueller aimed squarely at The Donald, including the thoughts of Charles Cooke (Not Exonerated’ Is Not a Standard Any Free Country Should Accept), Sean Davis (Mueller Just Proved His Entire Operation Was A Political Hit Job That Trampled The Rule Of Law) and Andy McCarthy (Mueller’s Press Conference Makes the Impeachment Tightrope Tougher to Walk for Democrats), but we’ve chosen to feature two.

First, as the editors at the WSJ observe, this was indeed…

Robert Mueller’s Parting Shot

The special counsel gives House Democrats an impeachment nod.

Robert Mueller is an honorable man, as Marc Antony might have put it. And in his public statement Wednesday we saw a special counsel who went out of his way not to absolve Donald Trump and may have put his thumb on the scale toward impeachment...”

His “thumb”, hell; as Alan Dershowitz suggests at The Hill, Mueller was leaning on the scale with all the force he could muster short of screaming aloud for Trump’s head in an updated version of the Reign of Terror…

…an excessive event many on The Left would happily replay….using our necks!

Shame on Robert Mueller for exceeding his role

“…Comey was universally criticized for going beyond his responsibility to state whether there was sufficient evidence to indict Clinton. Mueller, however, did even more. He went beyond the conclusion of his report and gave a political gift to Democrats in Congress who are seeking to institute impeachment proceedings against President Trump. By implying that President Trump might have committed obstruction of justice, Mueller effectively invited Democrats to institute impeachment proceedings. Obstruction of justice is a “high crime and misdemeanor” which, under the Constitution, authorizes impeachment and removal of the president.

Until today, I have defended Mueller against the accusations that he is a partisan. I did not believe that he personally favored either the Democrats or the Republicans, or had a point of view on whether President Trump should be impeached. But I have now changed my mind. By putting his thumb, indeed his elbow, on the scale of justice in favor of impeachment based on obstruction of justice, Mueller has revealed his partisan bias. He also has distorted the critical role of a prosecutor in our justice system…”

Now, as Phil Klein accurately assesses at the Washington Examiner, it’s high time…

Democrats should impeach Trump or shut up

Though we’re of the opinion, the longer they drag it out, the better Trump’s chances in 2020.

Here’s the juice: not only are the wrong people being investigated and charged, as Katie Pavlich records at Townhall.com, the right people are being let off.

As importantly, our theory of the real crime, as we mention in the meme accompanying our Quote of the Day at the top of the page, is Mueller didn’t take sides against a particular party or President, rather he zealously defended the Deep State, i.e., the status quo in Washington…those he was truly sworn to protect and defend…against a clear and present danger to an entrenched, self-enriching bureaucracy which works against the interests of the People.

The Deep State wanted Hillary, who represented “business as usual”.  The People opted for Trump, who, unlike any President before him…even Ronaldus Maximus…wasn’t subject to even a modicum of their control.  The Deep State couldn’t depend upon him…

…so they had to neutralize the threat.

Seriously, think about it.  The Deep State cares about one thing and one thing only: itself!  It is the real-life embodiment of the lust of Auric Goldfinger:

How else can one explain almost 60 years of skyrocketing spending and counterproductive policies which, far from benefiting John Q. Citizen one iota, have rather, as this item forwarded by Jeff Foutch from Frontpage Mag confirms, like everything else they’ve ever passed…

…not to mention manifestly adversely impacting the lives of everyday Americans.

Since we’re on the subject of manifestly adverse impacts, the recent…

Mount Everest death spike is prompting review of ‘all the old laws,’ Nepal official says

“…Renowned mountaineer Um Hong-gil of South Korea, who was honored by the Nepal government Wednesday at an event commemorating the 66th anniversary of the first ascent of Everest, said the number of climbers should be scaled back and only those with proper training and experience should be allowed. “There should definitely be less permits issued and more experienced climbers on Everest,” he said.

…”Many people are now taking climbing Everest very lightly and as entertainment only, which they think they can do without much training,” Um said…”

Ummm…probably because so many inexperienced climbers have, of late, successfully summited!  Um’s solution sounds greatprovided you’re an experienced climber…i.e., those with nothing else to do but constantly climb mountains!

Frankly, provided they’re aware of the risks, we see no reason anyone aspiring to stand atop the world shouldn’t be afforded the chance to kill themselves in the attempt.  And if the Sherpa guides feel the risk of ushering these mountaineering ingénues to the summit outweighs the benefit, they should seek alternative employment…which in Nepal ain’t readily available.  Which is why they keep guiding.

And in the EnvironMental Moment, Jeff Foutch forwarded this commentary from Dr. Tim Ball writing at Watts Up With That?, who reminds us, when it comes to…

Environmentalism: Evidence Suggests it Was Always and Only About Achieving World Government

Which is why, at least where we’re concerned, the junk science of global warming…aka, climate change…aka, whatever The Left needs to call it on a given day, is…

The myth of anthropogenic global warming is dead; long live truth and reality!

Last surviving Sumatran rhinoceros dies in Malaysia

As the Boy Wonder blurts out above, the headline is indeed misleading.  Truth be told, it was the last surviving MALE Sumatran rhino in Malaysia which died…of old age.  Some eighty other Sumatran rhinos are still extent in other parts of Southeast Asia.  This isn’t to say things are looking good for the Sumatran rhinos in general, but we challenge you to name another species in history more committed to inflicting harm upon its own in order to care for other comparatively useless occupants of the planet.

Reports authorities have asked Jerry Nadler (shown naked below) to help preserve the species in Malaysia…
