It’s Monday, August 24th, 2020, but before we begin, this item from the Daily Caller forwarded by Bill Meisen reveals how Dimocratic Socialists have sunk to a level of self-serving, hypocritical behavior so low it exceeds what was, heretofore, even their crush depth:
“Democratic Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot defended banning protesters from her block, saying Thursday that she has received threats against her and her family. “I think that residents of this city, understanding the nature of the threats that we are receiving on a daily basis…understand that I have a right to make sure that my home is secure,” the mayor told reporters Thursday, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Police could not cite instances where Lightfoot’s predecessor, Rahm Emanuel, had his home repeatedly blocked off from protesters, the Tribune reported. Lightfoot, who receives 24/7 protection from the policeincluding squad cars stationed at her home, said that comparing the level of protection she receives to previous mayors doesn’t “make any sense” because “this is a different time like no other.”
“I’m not going to make any excuses for the fact that, given the threats I have personally received, given the threats to my home and family, I’m going to do everything I can to make sure they’re protected,” the mayor said. “I make no apologies whatsoever for that.”
Chicago’s privileged political elite enjoying 24/7 armed security while hundreds of the city’s ordinary, defenseless, disarmed citizens were murdered every year was bad enough, but this takes the proverbial cake!
Threats…WHAT threats?!? Were we a resident of the Windy City, we’d need a little bit more than Lightfoot’s say-so to believe any serious threats have been made against her, let alone her family. Unless Hollywood’s version of Frank Nitti has literally risen from the grave to terrorize Chicago’s first Black lesbian…

…we’re forced to conclude Her Honor is dishonorably wasting badly needed police resources in an effort to augment a lack of courage and allow her to sleep better at night.
This is how Democratic Socialism works: it’s basically Communism wrapped in empathy. The elite live in secure luxury while the masses suffer. Sure, you can have freedom of speech…just not on my block; and only as long as it doesn’t offend anyone in a protected group…which remains protected only as long as its members unwaveringly support the Party.
As Walt Meisen opined, when Liberals like Lori Lightfoot say “Black Lives Matter”, they’re speaking in the first-person singular, while Bill Meisen suggested when rioters and looters…er,…peaceful protestors…enter Lightfoot’s block, the police should take a knee.
Meanwhile, as this video forwarded by James Nichols demonstrates, while maintaining their social distance in basements and enclaves protected by 24/7 armed security, Progressive politicians at every level of government are surrendering large swaths of America to The Mob:

Here’s the juice: When someone can explain to us how (other than providing certain groups of people benefits paid for by other groups of people based solely on the color of the parties of the first part’s skin…or preferred sexual perversion/gender-of-the-moment) a race-neutral public policy can benefit Whites…and Yellows…
…while somehow putting Blacks, Browns, Reds…and…
…at a disadvantage, we’ll reconsider the advisability of race-based redistributions.

Christina Wilkie of CNBC reported last week:
Joe Biden, the presumptive Democratic nominee for president, called for a nationwide mask mandate on Thursday, drawing a sharp contrast with President Donald Trump, who rarely wears a mask himself and opposes such mandates.
…In Thursday night’s widely praised Democratic nomination acceptance speech, Mr. Biden returned to the theme, proclaiming:
We’ll have a national mandate to wear a mask — not as a burden, but to protect each other.It’s a patriotic duty. In short, I will do what we should have done from the very beginning.
Our current president has failed in his most basic duty to this nation. He failed to protect us. He failed to protect America. And, my fellow Americans, that is unforgivable.
The former vice president then concluded his remarks, donned a mask and went outside to greet supporters and enjoy a fireworks show. But like so many of us, he quickly grew tired of the mask and took a breather, with the equipment tucked comfortably under his chin as he celebrated his nomination with fellow Democrats.
Talk about flipping the script. The patriotic duty to save lives for three months appears to have lasted mere minutes. Will Mr. Biden be able to forgivehimself?…”
Three thoughts: First, as Allysia Finley recently noted, the science surrounding the efficacy of masks is very unsettled. Second, this makes Biden’s previous promise to keep Dr. Faux-Chi on as part of a Biden Administration rather incongruous in light of Faux-Chi’s dismissal of the necessity for masks, not to mention his later admission he had lied so as to not create a run on them. Third, as demonstrated with his conduct during the fireworks show, like Lincoln and the Emancipation Proclamation, Biden will never have to endure the impact and effects of his own mask mandate…particularly as we predict, come the dawn of November 4th, if Biden’s the winner, the threat posed by the Wuhan virus and all its associated hysteria will suddenly and miraculously subside.

Except he’s Michael Poalucci, electrical inspector for the town of Foster, and he’s registered in 4 of the last 5 Rhode Island primaries as a Dimocrat. The fifth was 2016, when he registered as a Republican, likely to vote for Trump in an effort to ensure he was Hillary’s opponent in November.
Ain’t it amazin’ such “errors”…from the Baltimore couple who chose a trendy lifestyle over health insurance for their children, to the laid-off steelworker who blamed Romney for his wife’s from cancer, even though she had her own coverage…only crop up in the commercials of ONE particular political party!

And in a follow-up segment of sorts, echoing a point we’ve made numerous times in previous editions, the WSJ‘s Kim Strassel offers the facts regarding…
“Is it reasonable to blame a single politician for the spread of a highly infectious virus, especially in a free country with 50 states and 330 million people? Joe Biden is lucky that wasn’t the standard a decade ago.
…Democrats don’t like to talk about H1N1, because it didn’t go well. If it had been as deadly as Covid-19, the toll would have been catastrophic. The history is a powerful reminder that governments can’t stop a virus—although they can make epidemics worse.
H1N1 began much like corona, with panicked stories in late April 2009 about a novel “hybrid” flu strain in Mexico that was popping up in the U.S. It was even more alarming, in that it especially affected children. Yet the new administration began with a muddled message.Mr. Obama encouraged calm, while Mr. Bidenrambled a warning about staying off airplanes and public transport—prompting backlash. “Biden’s flu gaffe a headache for Obama,” read one headline.
Within days, some 30 states had suspected cases, and by April 27 the U.S. had its first death, a 23-month-old child. Other countries started shutting facilities, telling citizens to stay home, quarantining visitors. The Obama administration still had no idea how deadly the disease was, though the World Health Organization called the outbreak a threat to “all humanity,” and health experts predicted hospitals would be overloaded.
The administration nonetheless took a resigned approach to its spread. Mr. Obama didn’t close the Mexican border, saying that would “be akin to closing the barn doors after the horses are out.” His officials did declare a health emergency (Mr. Obama was golfing that day) and distributed the national stockpile (which they never replenished). The administration recommended schools “consider” closing if experiencing an outbreak, though the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention chief said this might not help with spread and warned about taking kids out of classrooms. No one considered a national lockdown, especially not an administration focused on a fragile economic recovery. Mr. Obama promised to “control” the “impact” of the virus—not the virus itself. He asked Congress for all of $1.5 billion.
Authorities grew more optimistic as H1N1 turned out to be less deadly than had been feared, but they still faced the risk of an uglier strain in the fall. Team Obama promised 100 million doses of vaccine by mid-October. (A flu vaccine is easier to produce than a coronavirus vaccine). But government setbacks in production, manufacturing and dosing protocols resulted in only 11 million doses, prompting national outrage. By that point, the CDC estimated 22 million Americans had been infected, 36,000 children hospitalized, and 540 kids had died.
Before Covid-19, Democrats were willing to admit they’d dodged a bullet.Former Biden chief of staff Ron Klain said at Texas A&M in 2019: “We did every possible thingwrong. Sixty million Americans got H1N1 in that period of time, and it is just purely a fortuity that this isn’t one of the great mass-casualty events in American history. [It] had nothing to do with us doing anything right; just had to do with luck. If anyone thinks that can’t happen again, they don’t have to go back to 1918. Just go back to 2009, 2010. Imagine a virus with a different lethality, and you can just do the math.”
Yes, let’s do the math. The U.S. has some five million reported cases of coronavirus and 170,000 deaths. A virus with the spread of H1N1 and fatality rate of Covid-19 could produce a death toll approaching two million. The Trump administration response has been flawed—in particular its initial testing delays. But let’s acknowledge (as Democrats once did) that there is only so much government can do to “control” a germ. As for distributing equipment, providing antivirals and developing a vaccine, the current response has so far met or exceeded 2009-10. Mr. Biden is free to argue he’s a better man for the White House; he shouldn’t get to rewrite history, or virology.“
In other words, Dimocrats didn’t dodge a bullet…
…rather America was spared a plague of Biblical proportions, with no thanks whatsoever to either Tweedle Dum or Tweedle Dummer.

Reports the Central Florida School of Rocket Surgery and Cipherin’ (endowed by Jed Clampett in honor of his nephew Jethro) terminated Mr. McClellan’s scholarship could not be confirmed at press time.
Here’s an idea: rather than defunding law enforcement, let’s restrict police services to people and households who want them! Available resources could then be devoted to citizens who value police protection and assistance.
Individual preferences could be indicated on a voter registration form, or with the application/renewal of a driver’s license. Those opting out of law enforcement services…or anyone who refuses to cooperate with the police…would be placed on “do not respond” list, and 911 dispatchers would respond to any request for assistance with a polite, “Have a nice day!”
