It’s Wednesday, October 27th, 2021…but before we begin, a little kerfuffle in the Sunshine State piqued our interest, so we thought we’d share it.  As the story goes, at least according to FOX

Florida’s surgeon general told to leave meeting after refusing to wear a mask

Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo was meeting with state Sen. Tina Polsky, who has breast cancer

Florida’s top health official was asked to leave a meeting after refusing to wear a mask at the office of a state senator who told him she had a serious medical condition, officials have confirmed.

[Tina] Polsky told The Associated Press about the tense exchange with state Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo that was first reported by the news site Florida Politics. She said Ladapo and two aides were offered masks and asked to wear them when they arrived for the Wednesday meeting. She did not tell him she had breast cancer but said she had a serious condition. (As Polsky’s a Dimocrat, that hardly narrowed the issue down!)

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Yeah, the same a*sclowns who tell us the vaccinated still need to wear masks!) says cancer patients are at a higher risk (Uh,…how much higher?!?) to get severely ill from COVID-19 and may not build the same immunity to vaccines.

Ladapo had asked to meet her in Tallahassee as he seeks confirmation in the Senate after being named to the post by Gov. Ron DeSantis last month. “It was so shocking to me that he treated me in this manner,” Polsky said. “If he is a surgeon general for the next several years, I am really concerned about a future public health emergency and not being able to rely on him for necessary guidance and proper scientific leadership.” (You know,…like we can rely Dr. Faux Chi, the NIH and the CDC!!!)

Ladapo offered to go outside, but the senator said she did not want to sit on the metal picnic tables on a warm day when her office was nice and spacious. She said she asked whether there was a reason why he couldn’t wear a mask, but he wouldn’t answer.

Democrats have opposed the appointment of Ladapo, criticizing him for comments and actions related to the pandemic.

Here’s the juice: When first we read this, our Spidey sense immediately started tingling.  Were we a prosecutor going after Tina Polsky for character assassination, we’d enter the following into the record:

Exhibit “A”: We noted this article from Florida Politics offered quotations markedly different from those contained in the FOX account, including this particularly important citation:

Polsky said he offered to go outside when she asked him to put the mask on, but she declined. I don’t want to go outside,” Polsky said she told Ladapo after he made the offer.I want you to sit in my office and talk to you.”

No mention of Polsky having an aversion to hot metal picnic tables, which makes sense given the daytime highs in Tallahassee last week…

…weren’t hot enough to turn metal benches…if, in fact, that’s what Ladapo was somehow going to force Polsky to sit on…into branding irons.

Exhibit “B”: Polsky KNEW Lapado to be of a mind with Ron DeSantis regarding the ineffectiveness and counterproductive nature of mask mandates.  Thus this entire kerfuffle was purely political, with Polsky using her Stage 1 status as a prop to embarrass and/or hurt Ron DeSantis politically.

Exhibit “C”: Polsky had yet to even begin treatment for her cancer, so she was neither in extremis nor was her immune system at all compromised.  Based on the Florida Politics story, Polsky was concerned not over the seriousness of her illness, but that a positive COVID test might delay her treatment a week, which, with Stage 1 cancer, was hardly life-threatening.

And even if it were, the fact Tina was photographed earlier the same day sans mask…

…confirms Polsky is political poltroon of the basest variety.

Speaking of poltroons of the basest variety, the Vaccinator-in-Chief was recently recorded circumventing every one of his own mandated COVID requirements by coughing, maskless, into his hand, then pressing the flesh…and who knows what else…with anyone in the crowd desperate enough to want to meet him:

Now, here’s The Gouge!

Our opening provides the perfect segue into Derek Hunter’s latest at Townhall.com, in which he accurately assesses Dimocrats as…

The Evil Party

Evil is a very strong word, when used properly. Merriam-Webster defines it many ways, the most relevant to what I’m talking about being “morally reprehensible” and “arising from actual or imputed bad character or conduct.” That is the modern left, the “progressive movement,” the “Democratic” Party. And to fight evil, to stop it, is the most important thing anyone can do.

What justifies the use of “evil” as a descriptor? It’s a dangerous word to use, one that has been abused throughout history to demonize innocent people as well as condemn the guilty. But there is no other word for what these people are doing, both in tactic and objective.

As they vanquish statues of our Founding Fathers, they erect them to Huey Newton and write long, glowing pieces extolling the virtues of the left’s racist division tactics. (Not to mention George Floyd.) Anything for the cause.

That dedication to the cause is what progressives have always done. From the eugenics in the early 20th century to Germany in the 1930s, nothing will dissuade a committed leftist from their objective. The starvation and death in the Soviet Union didn’t bother Joseph Stalin, similar horrors in China never cost Mao Zedong a moment of sleep. Both leftist “leaders” had their actions lead directly to unspeakable horrors, up to and including cannibalism and genocide, and not only do leftists try to ignore these horrors, to the extent they acknowledge them they simply don’t care.

In this country, they are in charge, but just barely. A 3-seat majority in the House and a tie in the Senate they can break in their favor might as well be a landslide in their eyes. They don’t let decisively losing statewide referendums deter them from their objectives, why would they let slim majorities? They fight to win, and when they lose they sue to overturn the will of the people. Has there been a referendum in California they’ve lost they haven’t sued over?

When Republicans have a clear majority, Democrats filibuster, shut down the government, and in states they flee to prevent legislatures from doing their jobs. When even a fraction of that favor is returned – use of the filibuster – it’s somehow a rekindling of Democrats’ Jim Crow laws. That is evil

What’s more evil is the ease with which they spread these lies. Nothing is off-limits, and no lie for the cause is too big. Race, gender, sexuality, and every other made up form of victimhood is currency with the new left. No matter how rich or successful someone is, the left has their people scrambling to find a way to wrap themselves not in accomplishment, but oppression

As one Twitter user put it about a pathetic piece in the Huffington Post by an extremely wealthy black woman desperately seeking some of that victimhood currency, “Wherein a multi-millionaire doctor previously married to the CEO of Paramount explains that although she’s richer than you or almost any white person will ever be, she’s actually very oppressed and that crushing oppression should be a central topic of our current zeitgeist.”

What kind of people embrace this mentality? Is there a better word than evil for those who do? For those who encourage self-martyrdom? Worse, for those who’d tell children they can’t win, they can’t get ahead because “the system” is somehow rigged against them? The same system in which they’ve succeeded. How did they do it? No one ever asks, and they never say. They can’t, it undermines their objectives

The kind of people who can inspire a well-off, pudgy white woman who admits she and her husband make a good living but rising gas prices are putting a small dent in their discretionary spending asking the President how he can help her. It wasn’t the dumbest or most offensive question at CNN’s town hall, but it was the most telling and pathetic about where we are as a society. When people like her run to the government for help, rather than taking responsibility and maybe choosing a choice cut of beef over prime every once in a while to make up the difference, our country is nearly done.

The United States of America could never be overtaken by a foreign enemy, no matter how much they saber-rattle about it. But our enemies don’t have to work to destroy the United States, they simply have to wait. The left in this country will do it for them from within. When it comes to what these people are doing, until someone creates a stronger, more accurate way of describing it, evil is the perfect word.

Though “treasonous” also comes to mind.

Now, juxtapose Hunter’s attitude with a thought recently expressed by Jim Geraghty:

“…Last night at the National Review Institute’s William F. Buckley Awards Dinner, NRI honored Adam Meyerson of the Philanthropy Roundtable and Leonard Leo and Eugene Meyer of the Federalist Society. All three gave excellent and inspiring remarks, but something Meyer said stuck with me. He emphasized the importance of doing everything you can to understand your opponent’s argument. He pointed out that if you do this, you’re more likely to think of your opponent as wrongheaded, but not evil. He said that you might learn something from your opponent. And he said that you are more likely, through reasoned debate and the clear exchange of views, to come to the truth…”

Eugene Meyer must not get out much.  If the width of the window of opportunity for “reasoned debate and the clear exchange of views” was inversely proportional to the human concept of speed, it was the Wright Brothers following Watergate, a P-51D under Dutch, accelerated to sublight with the “stolen” 2000 election, went warp with Obama, and immediately upon the The Donald’s nomination where no man…or level of political discourse…had gone before.

With all due respect for Jim Geraghty, which is significant, might we remind Mr. Meyer and him precisely who we’re dealing with for the foreseeable future:

All of which calls for a second shot of the juice: NOTHING a Socialist can say will aid anyone in coming to the truth.

NIH Quietly Edited the Section of Its Website on Gain-of-Function Research

The National Institutes of Health edited a section of its website explaining gain-of-function research this month as scrutiny over the research the NIH funded in Wuhan, China intensified.

The original page, seen on the Wayback Machine, displays several sections including Potential Pandemic Pathogens, Gain-of-Function Research, U.S. Government Funding Pause, HHS P3CO Framework, Research Within P3CO Scope, Research Outside P3CO Scope, and a Timeline.

The Gain-of-Function section stated:

The term gain-of-function (GOF) research describes a type of research that modifies a biological agent so that it confers new or enhanced activity to that agent. Some scientists use the term broadly to refer to any such modification. However, not all research described as GOF entails the same level of risk. For example, research that involves the modification of bacteria to allow production of human insulin, or the altering of the genetic program of immune cells in CAR-T cell therapy to treat cancer generally would be considered low risk. The subset of GOF research that is anticipated to enhance the transmissibility and/or virulence of potential pandemic pathogens, which are likely to make them more dangerous to humans, has been the subject of substantial scrutiny and deliberation. Such GOF approaches can sometimes be justified in laboratories with appropriate biosafety and biosecurity controls to help us understand the fundamental nature of human-pathogen interactions, assess the pandemic potential of emerging infectious agents, and inform public health and preparedness efforts, including surveillance and the development of vaccines and medical countermeasures. This research poses biosafety and biosecurity risks, and these risks must be carefully managed. When supported with NIH funds, this subset of GOF research may only be conducted in laboratories with stringent oversight and appropriate biosafety and biosecurity controls (link is external) to help protect researchers from infection and prevent the release of microorganisms into the environment. (NIH)

Now the page lists only Potential Pandemic Pathogens, ePPP Research, and Oversight…”

Faux Chi fighter Rand Paul was quick to note the deletion:

Contrary to the guidance offered earlier by Eugene Meyer, no discussion is needed to understand the thought process or motivation of this particular opponent: After helping to loose the WuFlu upon the world, then lying about their involvement, the NIH is desperately trying to cover their tracks.

Next, we offer another octet of items specially selected for inquiring Conservative minds:

(1). In an item related to the NIH cover-up, the Tuesday installment of the Morning Jolt offered an exceptional, must-read  analysis of how decidedly slanted coverage by U.S. media conglomerates with deep economic ties to Communist China allow Xi Jinping to literally get away with murder.

( 2). NRO‘s David Harsanyi relates why, contrary to Progressive pronouncements, America is the most tolerant place on the planet.

(3). Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen explained on CNN Sunday how a new levy proposed by Ron Wyden would impose an annual tax on unrealized capital gains on liquid assets.  “I wouldn’t call that a wealth tax, but it would help get at capital gains, which are an extraordinarily large part of the incomes of the wealthiest individuals and right now escape taxation until they’re realized,” Yellen said, conveniently ignoring the fact such assets have no real value until any gain is realized.

(4). Next Tuesday will tell, but it’s not a good sign when the subject of this sign…

…is considered a selling point of your campaign.

(5). Remember when the slogan of Socialism was “Workers of the world, unite!”?  Evidently, it applies only when those doing the oppressing are of a non-Progressive political persuasion.

(6). The 46* clown car recently announced revised vaccine rules for foreigners entering the U.S., said requirements NOT applicable to those

forcing their way into the country.

(7). The circumstances surrounding the death of Halyna Hutchins at the hands of Alec Baldwin just get curiouser and curiouser, with reports now indicating the weapon Baldwin was handed was an actual firearm used by members of the crew for off-duty target practiceSeriously?!?  To borrow a line from another Hollywood production…

(8). In another stupefyingly stupid headline, FOX misinforms us how a TV actor’s tragic death at 59 shocks the world.  Seems one James Michael Tyler, who evidently had a recurring, supporting role on Friends, tragically and prematurely passed away from prostrate cancer.  As John Donne so eloquently observed in For Whom the Bell Tolls, “each man’s death diminishes me, for I am involved in mankind”.  But “shocks the world”?

Which brings us, appropriately enough, to The Lighter Side:

Then there’s these from Balls Cotton…

…Bad Billy…

…and the lovely Shannon:

While we certainly understand and appreciate the thought, we hope and pray the tour never starts.

Last, and certainly not least, we present Texas governor Greg Abbott’s response to the Useless Nations request his state cut back on carbon emissions:

Finally, we’ll call it a wrap with yet another sordid story straight from the pages of The Crime Blotter, as Townhall.com‘s Landon Mion updates us on the case of the Loudoun County, VA school system’s pet sex predator:

Justice was Served’: Loudoun County Student Found Guilty of Bathroom Sexual Assault

The Loudoun County student accused of sexually assaulting a ninth-grade girl in a bathroom on May 28 was found guilty on all charges Monday.

The student, described as a biological male who was wearing a skirt at the time of the incident, sexually assaulted the victim in a girl’s restroom at Stone Bridge High School. A judge concluded that the evidence presented was enough to convict the accused but will wait on the sentencing until the student is tried for a separate alleged assault at a different high school earlier this month.

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Department said in an Oct. 13 statement that the boy in question had been charged with two counts of forcible sodomy back in July.

The victim’s father, Scott Smith, accused the school district of trying to cover up his daughter’s assault to continue pushing transgender policies during a June 22 school board meeting. He was arrested and ultimately charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest following an altercation with a woman who said she doubted the validity of his daughter’s rape…”

Here’s hoping the sexual predator in question serves his time in an adult facility where his fellows can give him, if you’ll pardon the phrase, a taste of his own medicine.

BTW, there’s an aspect of this case no one’s hit upon, at least not in the MSM: Rather than the skirt-wearing student truly identifying as a female, is it not far more likely the skirt was a ruse, the predator isn’t transgender and was just using the gullibility of the educated idiots running Loudoun County to gain legal access to his prey?!?
