It’s Monday, January 27th, 2020, but first, courtesy of George Lawlor, we present two rather disparate headlines about the same subject:

Ishmael Jefferson, father of four who ‘looked out for everybody,’ dies at 22

Ishmael Jefferson couldn’t resist helping someone in need. Whether it was giving a friend a ride to Boston, loaning someone money or doing a good deed for the homeless, the 22-year-old Hempstead resident was always willing to lend a hand.

Jefferson died on Jan. 3 after he lost control of the 2015 Infiniti he was driving on the Southern State Parkway, hitting a tree in the center median. Passengers Tony Porter of Westbury and Ja-Asia Hasty of Hempstead were also killed in the crash, while another passenger, Ty-Jeneyah Cruz, (more on Ty-Jeneyah later!) was seriously injured. Police believe speeding was a factor.

Kashawn Goldsby describes Jefferson as a friend he could always count on. Recently, Goldsby called Jefferson when he needed a last-minute ride to play a gig in Boston. “He stopped everything he was doing and drove me there” said Goldsby…”

Just curious, Mr. Goldsby: did Mr. Jefferson perchance drive you to Boston in a 2018 Chrysler 300?

Stolen Vehicle Found in Southington; 2 Suspects Charged

A man and a woman from New York each face a felony charge after they were found in Southington inside a stolen vehicle. Ishmael Jefferson, 20, and Ty-jeneyah Cruz, 19, have been charged with first-degree larceny and possession of marijuana after state police pulled over a stolen 2018 Chrysler 300 – worth $38,900 – on June 27…”

We’re all for not speaking ill of the dead…though when it comes to a number of individuals currently in positions of power in the Dimocratic Party…

Still, inquiring minds would love to know whether Newsday, who published Jefferson’s obituary, bothered to research their subject before praising him?

Now, here’s The Gouge!

We lead off the Monday edition with a time-lapse recording of the massive turnout for the 2020 March for Life, a video you won’t view on your MSM local or evening news:

As our older brother Rob said of pro-life Dim Kristen Day’s self-serving statement, The pro-life movement, to be successful, MUST be bipartisan“:

“…God didn’t need Pharaoh’s vote to deliver Israel from its slavery in Egypt, and I don’t think He needs either political party’s support to protect the most defenseless of human lifeI’m very glad, in any case, to see the various parties and people that supported life in this year’s march, and disappointed to see those conspicuous by their absence. Roe must go.

To which we can only add the heartiest “AMEN”, as well as wish good riddance to the worst variety of judicial malpractice.

Next up, as Andy McCarthy opines at NRO

On the Bidens, Schiff Opened the Door

If they have to testify, they have the Democrats’ chief impeachment manager to thank.

“…It is fair enough to tut-tut that a president should not conflate foreign policy and domestic politics (something all of them do to some degree). And it would certainly be prudent (even if not constitutionally required) for presidents to leave questions about who should be investigated to the Justice Department, especially when a president’s political fortunes may be implicated. All that said, though, it makes a difference whether this president is asking the foreign power to manufacture a case against a political opponent, or whether the president is instead asking for an investigation into something that truly appears suspicious.

Schiff has ignored that salient distinction from the start. And by ignoring the difference, he has — however heedlesslypainted a bull’s-eye on the Bidens. The father and son were front and center within the first ten minutes of Schiff’s opening statement at the impeachment trial Wednesday afternoon. But that was old news. Schiff kicked the door open at the start of the very first House hearing. Not content to quote from President Trump’s actual call with President Zelensky of Ukraine, Schiff insisted on presenting a “parody” that, he maintained, conveyed the unspoken essence of Trump’s message: “I want you make up dirt on my political opponent, understand? Lots of it.”

In sum, the House’s chief prosecutor represented to the American people that President Trump had asked his Ukrainian counterpart to fabricate a false case against Biden. In any court in America, that would open the door to the Trump defense team to show that this was not the president’s intention at all; he was simply asking Zelensky to look into a situation that cried out for an inquiry.

In light of Schiff’s explicit allegation, the president is entitled to an opportunity to show that there was reason for him to believe that a notoriously corrupt Ukrainian energy company had retained Hunter Biden and paid him a fortune despite his lack of qualifications; and that later, despite the blatant conflict of interest, then–vice president Biden extorted Ukraine into firing a prosecutor who was investigating the company, threatening to withhold $1 billion in desperately needed funds.

Schiff insists that Trump’s claims in this regard are false. But his mere say-so does not prove falsity, no more than his mere say-so proves that Trump wanted Ukraine to “make up dirt” on Biden. Figuring out who has the better of a factual dispute is what a trial is about. If a litigant does not want to create a dispute, it’s up to the litigant to steer clear of the issue.

Adam Schiff steered his case straight into the Bidens. The Trump team may have their political reasons for highlighting Biden’s involvement. But it was Schiff’s strategy that made the Bidens relevant. If one or both of them ends up in the witness box, they have Schiff to thank.

Like they say, haste makes waste, and the Dims must now pay the price for moving faster with impeachment than Hillary cleaning out the White House travel office.  Thus, though it was the House leadership who erred in haste, it may well be the Bidens who join the Clintons in repenting at their powerless leisure.

It’s worth noting Schiff-for-Brains’ unquenchable thirst for national prominence (unsuccessful though he’s been!)…as well as The Donald’s blood…has resulted in life once more imitating art, as evidenced by one of our favorite scenes from The Hunt for Red October:

Speaking of arrogant asses, the WSJ‘s Kim Strassel details how…

Schumer Whiffs Impeachment

The Democratic leader succeeds only in unifying the Republican caucus.

An old Beltway joke is that the most dangerous place in Washington is between Chuck Schumer and a TV camera. After Week One of the Trump impeachment trial, that deserves modification: The most dangerous place for Democrats IS Chuck Schumer in front of a TV camera.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi handed the impeachment baton to the Senate minority leader, and doesn’t America know it. The New Yorker has engaged in a media sprint, accusing Republicans of a rigged trial. He’s doing a masterful job of unifying Republicans, encouraging them to vote next week to ignore his witness demands and expeditiously acquit President Trump.

Mr. Schumer’s job this week was to the secure the cooperation of a handful of Republicans for his demands to drag this trial out further; he has likely failed. Will there be Republicans who break here or there on his witness demands? Probably, and understandably. But given the New Yorker’s undisguised political hardball, it seems far less likely that he’ll get enough to win his motions.

This week was Mr. Schumer’s audition for majority leader, and Republicans certainly weren’t impressed. Mr. Schumer’s bigger concern—when the dust settles after acquittal—is that his own party realizes how badly he served them.

If you can learn a lot about a man by the company he keeps, one can tell as much about voters who keep someone as obnoxious as Chuck Schumer in office.

Moving on, Stilton Jarlsberg reminds us of a strikingly similar action by Trump’s predecessor which curiously did not result in subsequent calls for the impeachment of the supposed-superhuman who was going to hold back the seas and heal the planet:

Germany’s Renewable Energy Disaster – Part 1: Wind & Solar Deemed ‘Technological Failures

Germany’s wind and solar experiment has failed: the so-called ‘Energiewende’ (energy transition) has turned into an insanely costly debacle.

German power prices have rocketedblackouts and load shedding are the norm; and idyllic rural communities are now industrial wastelands (see above).

Hundreds of billions of euros have been squandered on subsidies to wind and solar, all in an effort to reduce carbon dioxide gas emissions. However, that objective has failed too: CO2 emissions continue to rise.

But you wouldn’t know it from what appears in the mainstream media. Its reticence to report on what’s actually going on in Germany probably stems from the adage about success having many fathers, and failure being an orphan. Having promoted Germany as the example of how we could all ‘transition’ to an all RE future, it’s pretty hard for them to suck it up and acknowledge that they were taken for fools

Germany provided the perfect opportunity to prove that a modern, industrial economy could run on sunshine and breezes and, therefore, ditch fossil fuels, altogether. However, the wind and solar industries are shrinking, as subsidies are slashed; old coal-fired power plants are being refurbished; and dozens of new coal-fired plants are being built. On any sensible reckoning, the Energiewende has been a monumental failure.

Over the next four posts, STT covers the causes and consequences of Germany’s renewable energy disaster. The work which we reproduce was done by Vernunftkraft, a group of German energy experts, engineers and technicians. Their full study is available to be downloaded in PDF here.

This post focuses on the technological reasons as to why wind and solar will never be meaningful power sources…”

The Renewable Green Energy Myth: 50,000 Tons Of Non-Recyclable Wind Turbine Blades Dumped In The Landfill

Funny, no one seemed to consider what to do with the massive amount of wind turbine blades once they reached the end of their lifespanThus, the irony of the present-day Green Energy Movement is the dumping of thousands of tons of “non-recyclable” supposedly renewable wind turbine blades in the country’s landfills.

Who would have thought?  What’s even worse, is that the amount of wind turbine blades slated for waste disposal is forecasted to quadruple over the next fifteen years as a great deal more blades reach their 15-20 year lifespan.  Furthermore, the size and length of the newly installed wind turbine blades are now twice as large as they were 20-30 years ago…”

This is along the lines of the August 2019 commentary at the WSJ informing the world, “If You Want ‘Renewable Energy,’ Get Ready to Dig“, as “building one wind turbine requires 900 tons of steel, 2,500 tons of concrete and 45 tons of plastic“.

And that’s just the tip of the “renewable” energy scam.

Massachusetts serial pooper arrested after police catch her defecating in parking lot

“…Andrea Grocer, 51, was charged with eight counts of wanton destruction property after a Natick police officer said he saw her defecating outside the Natick Outdoor Store around 7 a.m., WYCN reported.

Police were first alerted to the serial pooper in December when Henry Kanner, the store’s owner, reported human feces there on eight separate occasions since October. Police began investigating, initially believing it might be an animal, but then found “toilet paper and other wipes,” Natick Police Department spokeswoman Lt. Cara Rossi told The Metrowest Daily News.

An officer was patrolling the parking lot Wednesday when he spotted Grocer waiting for the lot to clear, opening the driver’s side door of her Lincoln MKX and defecating out the door, WYCN reported.

Grocer was pulled over after driving off and told police that she was on her way to a home up the street where she worked as a nanny, but stopped because she has irritable bowel syndrome, according to the arrest report. Her employer told police, however, that Grocer had access to their restroom. This, coupled with the length of time that passed with Grocer in the lot, led to her arrest.

“I’m so happy they arrested her,” Kanner told Metrowest“There’s nothing more disgusting [than] coming into your parking lot in the morning and seeing a pile of human excrement.”…”

Unless, of course, it’s an entire city

…covered in crap!

Reports Ms. Grosser…er, Grocer…plans to parlay her newfound fame into a run for political office in San Francisco with the slogan “Andrea Grocer: she REALLY gives a sh*t!” remain unconfirmed.

Magoo

P.S.  As Balls Cotton informed us, the incredibly untimely, unfortunate death of everyone aboard Kobe’s helicopter is proof positive why filing a VFR flight plan into known IFR conditions is never advisable.
