It’s Friday, April 16th, 2021,…but before we begin, we present a question asked and answered:

For those interested, James Nichols forwarded a video of Officer Tatum offering his analysis of Daunte’s true character.  It’s a bit lengthy, but well worth the watch, as Brandon covers pretty much every aspect of this unfortunate incident:

Here’s the juice: Unless the Boy Scout’s have started awarding merit badges for gangbanging, Daunte wasn’t as he’s being represented by his family and the MSM.  Most importantly, if Daunte Wright hadn’t chosen to resist arrest, he’d be alive today.

Now, here’s The Gouge!

First up, we learn from The Hill a…

Maryland trooper fatally shot a 16-year-old

“…Police confirmed they received two calls Tuesday about a suspicious man holding what appeared to be a gun. A uniformed trooper then confronted the male teen, who appeared to have a gun and a knife.

Police said a witness informed them that the teen adopted what appeared to be a shooting stance and pointed a gun at the trooper. A second witness told investigators that after the trooper fired a shot, wounding the teen, the person pulled out a knife and tried to get up. The trooper ordered the teen to drop the knife before firing for a second time.

The gun recovered at the scene was determined to be an airsoft gun that is “a close representation of an actual handgun,” police said…”

Sorry, but if getting yourself shot for resisting arrest for outstanding warrants (See “Blake, Jacob“, “Wright, Daunte“, “Brooks, Rayshard“, etc., etc., etc., ad infinitum, ad nauseam.) was a bad idea, we cannot even begin to fathom the thought process behind pointing an airsoft gun at a trooper who has already drawn down on you, let alone pulling a knife after having already been shot!

Young Master Ham was either that or mentally ill.

It’s also worth noting the tenor of the questions posed to the Maryland State Police spokesman during the press conference following the shooting.  We report, you decide, but to our ears, these “journalists” sound like they’re trying to turn this into another Trayvon Martin or Jacob Blake circus/charade.

In what comes as no surprise, Kim Potter, the Brooklyn Center police officer who, after 26 years on the job still couldn’t tell her Taser from her Glock, will be charged with second degree manslaughter.  You can review the Minnesota statute for second degree manslaughter here, but the only section applicable to Kim Potter we found was this:

(1) by the person’s culpable negligence whereby the person creates an unreasonable risk, and consciously takes chances of causing death or great bodily harm to another;

From what we could determine, “culpable negligence” as defined by Minnesota courts means gross negligence combined with recklessness.  Thus a jury will have to determine Potter was grossly negligent and reckless when she created an unreasonable risk by attempting to stop a wanted felon from escaping police custody a second time, and consciously took the chance she’d mistake her Glock…

…for her Taser.

Especially after any competent expert witness for the defense echoes the analysis of Brandon Tatum:

BTW, the shooting happened Sunday afternoon, and Potter was arrested and charged Wednesday; justice may occasionally be swift, but this was the Operation Warp Speed of criminal investigations.

Though the truth will eventually out, for now, here’s a second shot of the juice: Some mistakes, however honest, you live with the rest of your life, as Kim Potter is already learning.  Other mistakes, like Daunte Wright choosing to resist arrest, you don’t live long enough to regret.  A sad, sad state of affairs any way you cut it.

Next up, two commentaries from NRO‘s Dan McLaughlin on the Dimocrats’ latest moves against both the Constitution and those it protects.

House Democrats Vote Today on Slavery Reparations

It’s a terrible idea that in no way could be fair, sensible, or practical.

Court-Packing Democrats Corrupted by Their Own Power

Only the voters can stop lawmakers before they cross this Rubicon.

So much for respecting the wishes of Darth Bader.

Listening to WCBM in Baltimore this afternoon, we heard Derek Hunter wonder why The Left would act in such an overtly partisan manner.  We can sum it up in five words: to invalidate the 2nd Amendment.  Dan McLaughlin compared the effort to pack the SCOTUS to crossing the Rubicon, the act of Julius Caeser on January 10, 49 BC which precipitated the subsequent Roman civil war.

We find a comparison to the initial shots on Fort Sumter, which, curiously enough, were fired almost 160 years ago to the day Jerry “the Toad” announced the Dimocrats’ latest assault on the Constitution, far more apt.  What we find even more eerie is, if they’re successful, secession may once again become the only alternative.

Maybe…just maybe…that’s why even Nancy the Red won’t bring the court-packing measure to a vote.  Or, as is more likely, she knows Progressives don’t have the votes to pass it.

We’ll leave the last word to George Orwell, courtesy of Balls Cotton:

Moving on, we offer eight items carefully crafted for inquiring Conservative minds:

(1). NRO‘s Zach Evans confirms Amazon and Google have joined hundreds of American corporations in signing a letter opposing voting limits.  Brit Hume offers his usual insightful analysis of what he terms an out-and-out lie here.

Reports all the signatories will no longer require any identification to utilize their services or make purchases remain unconfirmed…and highly unlikely.  We should also note, as Just the News relates, a number of these companies are incorporated in business-friendly Delaware, a state which has far stricter voter laws than Georgia, including a requirement voters provide a valid reason when applying for an absentee ballot.

(2). The WSJ informs us Bernie Madoff has died in a North Carolina federal prison at age 82.  The passing of such a contemptible individual always brings to mind this clip from the opening sequence of Diamonds Are Forever:

Move over, Blofeld; you’ve got company.  And save a seat for The Groper, as he’s not far behind.

(3). The Washington Free Beacon reports China recently sent 25 warplanes into Taiwanese airspace, marking the largest incursion since September.  In other words, 46* is being tested and thus far been found wanting.  Meanwhile, he’s sanctioning Russia but removing sanctions against Iran.  Can anyone try to make sense of all this without concluding whoever’s running things is acting against America’s interests?!?

(4). In a related item, just as 46* is set to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory by easing sanctions against Iran, The Washington Free Beacon also reports Trump’s sanctions pushed the America’s most implacable foe to the brink of bankruptcy, as the Mad Mullahs burned through almost $120 billion under The Donald’s maximum pressure campaign.  Again, sorta kinda makes one wonder whose side Socialists are on, eh?

(5). Jim Geraghty offers a number of reasons 46* may regret his decision to withdraw all U.S. forces from Afghanistan, though we find it far more likely certain yet-to-be-slaughtered innocents and their loved ones will have much greater cause to regret the decision than the demented man who made it…or had it made for him.

(6). So while Derek Chauvin is standing trial for murdering career criminal and drug addict George Floyd, and Kim Potter has been charged with killing George Floyd wanna-be Daunte Wright, Just the News informs the officer who fatally shot Ashli Babbitt, unarmed and with no criminal record, during the Capitol riot won’t face charges, as Federal prosecutors have evidently determined there was insufficient evidence to support a criminal prosecution.  If only there was video evidence, as in the cases of Messrs. Floyd and Wright.  Oh,…

We know it’s too much to ask of a totally compromised Department of Injustice, but where does it say in the Capitol Police training manual the inside of the Capitol is a free-fire zone in which officers are authorized to use deadly force against unarmed protestors who are not posing an imminent threat of bodily harm without first employing non-lethal means such as a Taser or pepper spray?  And if Quick-Draw McGraw WAS in imminent threat of bodily harm, why did his fully-armed and amply-equipped fellows featured in the foreground of the second video not come to his aid?

We can only assume those who riot, loot, kill and burn…

…in supposed frustration over the death or wounding of Blacks engaged in criminal activity by White police officers, or support those who do, yet haven’t any issue when a Black Capitol Police officer kills an non-threatening, unarmed White woman subscribe to the belief…

No double standard here, folks…please move along.

(7). More sh*t you just can’t make up, as the California Senate has passed a bill allowing the names and information of those signing future recall petitions to be released to the subject of said recall.  No intent to permit harassment and intimidation here, folks…please move along, quietly and obediently, further into Orwell’s 1984.

(8). The WSJ‘s Kim Strassel notes while the entire cruise industry in America remains tied up fast to the CDC dock, Europe and Asia are sailing again.

Which brings us to The Lighter Side:

Then there’s these from Mark Foster…

…Balls Cotton…

…Ed Harvey…

…Ed Hickey…

…and Major Jon:

Finally, we’ll call it a wrap with News of the Bizarre, including some of the reporting herein, as we learn a…

San Diego Zoo worker is bitten by venomous snake with no antivenom

African bush viper bites ‘can be fatal’ according to a toxicology study

A San Diego Zoo employee was hospitalized Monday afternoon after being bitten by a venomous snake, according to reports. The incident occurred as the wildlife care specialist was caring for the African bush viper, scientifically known as Atheris squamigera, in a non-public area, the zoo said. The zoo added, “In keeping with our protocols, the staff member was immediately taken to a hospital for evaluation and medical care, and we remain in close contact.”

The staff member is currently in unknown condition, 10 News reported…”

“…National Geographic states about the viper native to parts of western and central Africa: “Their venom typically kills within days.” The symptoms from a bite from the reptile include “serious kidney damage and disrupt blood clotting and flow” and “severe inflammation, hemorrhaging, and tissue death.”

The snake “can cause fevers or internal bleeding, which can be fatal,” a study from the American College of Medical Toxicology (ACMT) reportedThere is no known antivenom for an African bush viper’s poison, according to the Seneca Park Zoo in Rochester, New York.

Several thoughts immediately came to mind while reading this story.  First, “In keeping with our protocols, the staff member was immediately taken to a hospital for evaluation and medical care“.  As opposed to what, keeping him at the zoo, carving an “x” over each fang mark and sucking out the venom?

Second, if the zoo in fact remains “in close contact” with the bite victim, how would they not know his or her status?

Lastly, how many expert sources did the reporter need to consult for this story?  Seriously, National Geographic, a study from the American College of Medical Toxicology and the Seneca Park Zoo!  As for that last one, though we grew up south of Rochester and visited the Seneca Park Zoo on many occasions in our youth, we never realized they were an authority on African bush vipers, notwithstanding the fact they feature one in their reptile exhibit.

On the other hand, we never realized the highest paid bureaucrat in the federal government could know so little about his supposed area of expertise.
